Chapter 58 Enemy

"I'm sure!" Link nodded. "You're just paying the price for your mistakes. Think about what you discovered in the army."

Frank was taken aback. He instantly recalled many things. "I don't know the specifics. I just have some doubts."

"Yes, I only have some doubts, but those people won't let you get away with this," Link said. "Billy Russell, William Roslyn!"

"They used soldiers' corpses to transport the seized drugs back. I believe you should know the profits involved. We cannot allow even the slightest danger to exist."

"You knew there was a problem, but you covered it up. That was your mistake."

Frank finally put down his gun, or rather, the gun slipped from his hand. He knelt down, covered his head with his hands, and Link could guess what he was feeling at that moment.

Link didn't go over to comfort him, but let the tough man kneel there and weep silently.

It was indeed his mistake. He clearly noticed the problem, but he didn't investigate it further, prioritizing brotherhood.

He underestimated the greed inherent in human nature!

He thought that if he left, everything would be over, but the profits were too huge. It was a business with almost no cost. How could the other party be willing to give up such huge profits?

Frank's existence was a threat, so he had to be eliminated. However, he didn't die, even after being shot in the head.

His tenacious will to live allowed him to survive, but he went in the wrong direction. He originally intended to use legal means to punish the gang members who killed his family, but the result was not good.

He then tried his own methods, but he was going in the wrong direction, making his desire for revenge even more difficult.

Link took out a cigarette, lit it, and slowly smoked it, just watching quietly. After a long time, the other person finally regained their composure.

Frank slowly stood up and said, "I won't continue. Thank you for the information."

He turned around to pack his weapons. Link thought for a moment whether he should help Frank, after all, he was a very talented person.

Although Link didn't want to recruit him into S.H.I.E.L.D., he was a good choice as a second-in-command.

Especially for Jessica's protection, and also to act as her other hand when necessary, having a powerful combat force at her service is a good choice.

Link said, "I can help you, but I hope you will work for me from now on."

"Work for you?" Frank was taken aback, turning to look at Link. "What for? To kill for you?"

"Maybe!" Link said. "My cover was that of a professional gambler, but that was before. Now I've made a lot of money and invested in voting. I'm now one of the major shareholders of Stark Industries, owning 10% of the shares."

"A charitable foundation was established, and a law firm was acquired to provide legal assistance to vulnerable groups."

Frank was taken aback; he hadn't expected that the person in front of him was actually a billionaire.

"Then why are you still in that bureau?" Frank didn't quite understand.

"Now that we know the truth about the world, we naturally want to continue to learn more; that's what makes life interesting," Link said. "My girlfriend, Jessica, runs a charitable foundation. Although this kind of legal aid is a charitable endeavor, there are still dangers involved."

"Especially when it comes to funding vulnerable groups, the people involved are naturally not simple individuals."

"I need you to be her bodyguard, protect her safety, and participate in the investigation when necessary."

"I believe this suits your taste, doesn't it?"

Frank nodded and said, "Okay, but how do you plan to help me?"

"First, arrest Billy Russell. He and your former comrades were all involved; most of those who weren't involved are already dead," Link said. "Then, William Roslin. Although he's with the CIA, arresting him won't be difficult for me."

"Fine, but I'll deal with them myself." Frank's hatred burned even brighter.

"It's a deal. Let's pack up and go!" Link extended an invitation.

Frank packed up the weapons, and the two men carried the items downstairs and loaded them into Frank's car. Then Link drove the way, and they went straight to Link's house.

There was one parking space left out of the four, which was just enough for Frank's car. The two then went upstairs.

Link took out his laptop, logged into the database, and quickly found Billy Russell.

Capturing him would be simple, but the two still made a plan. To capture everyone, they would first need to secretly capture Billy Russell.

Frank couldn't wait any longer, so Link had to set off with him again, each in their own car. Link gave Frank a walkie-talkie to use as a means of communication, and they exchanged phone numbers.

The two men took turns tracking Billy Russell and easily found him.

This guy is now the boss of a company and even provides donations to the military service center. Link has very detailed information about him.

So, finding him isn't difficult!

Using an alternating tracking method, they easily kept an eye on Billy Russell, and the two of them didn't need to look for evidence.

Link is no longer an NYPD officer and there's no legal recourse, so they simply followed him to his home.

Link activated his X-ray vision and discovered that there was no security system or surveillance system here.

But thinking about it, it makes sense. First of all, this is America, where burglaries are not common because most homes don't have cash.

Secondly, Billy Russell is a retired Marine who now runs a private military and security company called Chopping Board.

Finally, what he did was shady; installing these things in his home might just be asking for trouble.

"Go ahead, go knock on the front door, I'll come in from the back." Link notified Frank via walkie-talkie, then got out of the car and headed for the back door, while also observing the surroundings to see if anyone was there.

Billy Russell's house is indeed quite nice, located in an affluent area, with his neighbors all far away.

This made their actions easier. Link didn't notice any surveillance cameras pointing at him, so he simply climbed over the wall into the back yard.

Frank had already rang the doorbell. Billy Russell came to the door and was taken aback when he opened it to find Frank standing there.

"Frank?" Billy Russell's voice was clearly filled with shock.

"Billy!" Frank looked at him. "I need your help with something."

"Come in quickly!" Billy Russell immediately made way for the doorway.
