Chapter 90 Vampire Eve
Chapter 90 Vampire Eve (4 chapters released after launch)
Lux suddenly opened her eyes, a thought popping into her head: that vampire, it hunts down everyone who has come into contact with these clones.
Its target from the beginning was not the Malay Party, but LeBlanc!
Anthony was merely a bait deliberately thrown out to attract attention.
Having figured out the vampires' target, there's only one mystery left to solve.
Where did this female vampire named Eve come from?
We need to go back to that cabin; there must be other things LeBlanc left behind there.
Connecting the fireplace to the Floo Network is a very complicated matter, not something Anthony could have prepared. It must have been arranged by LeBlanc's clone after it arrived. Therefore, LeBlanc most likely placed relevant information in the cabin, but because her two clones were killed by the vampires too quickly, she was unable to connect.
Lux suddenly stood up.
"You all go back first. I need to investigate some things on my own."
Although Vova didn't fully understand, he trusted Lux completely for the time being, and he roughly shoved Anthony: "Let's go!"
""
Lux returned to the bloodstained cabin once again.
Inside the room, Lux held up her wand and carefully scanned every corner.
"This place—it's been cleaned, very roughly," Lux murmured, her gaze falling on the floor beside the fireplace. Anthony's rough cleaning clearly couldn't completely erase the traces of magic.
"His true colors are revealed!"
The magic rippled outwards like waves, affecting the traces that had been covered up by brutal magic.
Beside the fireplace, a seemingly ordinary floorboard suddenly emitted a faint light, and then an object slowly emerged from the broken wooden table.
A meditation basin, within which a mercury-like substance still slowly rotates, emitting a faint glow.
"This is—" Lux carefully buried her face in it.
Instantly, the silver substance within the fragment began to spin violently, and a memory rushed into Lux's mind.
Smoke filled the air, and artillery fire raged.
She seemed to be looking down at a devastated battlefield, where the soil was turned upside down, charred trees lay askew, and tattered flags were mixed with cold corpses.
LeBlanc came into view, strolling through this land of death as if inspecting her own garden.
Her gaze swept coldly over the corpses, finally settling on a small figure that was still twitching slightly.
It was a young witch, wearing a tattered long dress, half of her body stained red with blood, clearly struck by shrapnel from a cannonball, her life rapidly slipping away.
But her eyes were wide open, filled with an astonishing, twisted will to survive, as she stared intently at LeBlanc, who was looking down at her.
LeBlanc judged that this witch's magical abilities were very poor; otherwise, she wouldn't have been accidentally injured by Muggle cannonballs and wouldn't have been able to save herself.
But her will to survive was very strong.
"Interesting—" LeBlanc's voice carried a playful cruelty. "Such a fragile life, yet with such a strong desire. Perfect, I need a test subject, a new toy that can adapt to this cold and death."
The scene was blown away like sand art and then reassembled into a new picture.
A dark basement.
The dying witch named Eve was strapped to a cold stone platform.
She is undergoing a horrific transformation; LeBlanc is attempting to use runes to mold her into an absolutely loyal...
Artificial vampires that feed on magic and life energy.
However, LeBlanc's experiment did not go so smoothly. The whole process was extremely painful. Eve was healed and then tortured to the point of near death. This process was repeated many times. LeBlanc wanted to see how strong her will could be.
Eve's own meager magic was fundamentally incompatible with LeBlanc's magic, which was based on deception, illusion, and mind control.
This rejection was amplified and distorted infinitely during her transformation into a vampire.
Finally, when Eve opened her eyes again, her pupils had turned a cold, blood-red color.
All of Eve's memories vanished in the intense rejection reaction.
Now she is like a blank sheet of paper, but in the deepest part of her subconscious, only an instinct remains.
An extreme hatred and bloodlust for LeBlanc's magic, a desire to kill without end.
Eve escaped after breaking free of her restraints and killing many of LeBlanc's clones.
The fragmented memories ended abruptly there.
Lux lifted her head from the Pensieve, staggered back a step, her face pale and her forehead covered in a fine layer of cold sweat.
"LeBlanc's clone came here not to meet with Anthony, but to act as bait. LeBlanc deliberately exposed her whereabouts to lure Eve over so that I could get rid of her."
Lux got angry at this thought. LeBlanc really treated her like a slave, sending her to capture such dangerous vampires.
Wait a minute—this vampire was modified with runes?
LeBlanc has already found some runes and is using them?
[LeBlanc, as a clone of the host, possesses strong autonomy, but cannot hold multiple runes. Therefore, a container for runes was created to store them. The host can actively dispel the clone LeBlanc and retrieve these runes.]
LeBlanc, I misunderstood you. You are truly a loyal subject.
Based on Lux's memories from the Pensieve, that rune is very likely the Domination rune "Taste of Blood".
Then we can't let this vampire run away; we need to find a way to control her and then extract the runes.
Why are there so many things happening during every holiday? Lux looks back on her exciting first half of life: hammering Tom, fighting werewolves, finding runes, and accidentally winning some alchemy prizes.
I discovered that I was only 13 years old.
Lux wiped her face, suppressing the surging emotions within her.
Now is not the time for sentimentality. Eve's whereabouts must have already followed the magical remnants on Anthony's body. If this drags on any longer, the entire village will turn into a dried-up corpse breeding farm.
She gripped her wand and headed toward the underground warehouse. As soon as she pushed open the door, she heard Anthony sobbing. The guy was huddled in a pile of wooden crates, his fingers unconsciously rubbing the buttons on his old dress.
Vova leaned against the door, his gun pointed at the ground, but his vigilance remained unwavering. Seeing Lux enter, he spoke first: "How's it going? Did you find any clues?"
Lux didn't answer directly, but instead put the Veela earrings of Vova on Anthony's ears and used the tip of her wand to lift his collar.
It still had some dirt stuck to it from when it was buried.
"Anthony, you used magic on those two messengers, didn't you? When you dug up those two mummified corpses."
Anthony looked up abruptly, his eyes wide like saucers: "How did you know? I clearly—"
"You clearly thought no one saw it?" Lux interrupted him, her tone laced with sarcasm. "But magical remnants don't lie, just like the urine stains on your crotch can't be hidden."
