Hogwarts: Lacus doesn't want to be a witch who destroys nations.
Chapter 75 Hogsmeade
"Let's go stroll around the main street first," Malena said, walking ahead. "I'm going to the pharmacy to buy some potion ingredients. If you want to visit other shops, you can wait for me at the intersection ahead."
Lux, clutching the bag of candy, shook her head: "Let's go together. I also want to see what fun things are in the pharmacy."
The two entered the pharmacy on the street corner. The shopkeeper, an elderly woman wearing round-framed glasses, greeted Malena with a smile: "Miss Rozier, your mandrake juice has arrived. It was just imported from France and is very fresh."
Marlena took the small bottle and carefully examined the label: "Thank you, and give me another small bottle of herb syrup."
Lux spotted a small box of colored powder on the shelf next to her, labeled "hair dye." She picked it up and asked, "Will this dye my hair back to blonde? The fluorescent green is just too bright."
The old lady leaned closer to look at her hair and couldn't help but laugh: "Of course it can. This one smells like berries, and the gold color it produces has a bit of shine. But you have to use it at night for the best results."
Lux immediately bought the hair dye powder, stuffed it into a candy bag, and planned to dye her hair back tonight, otherwise the hair dyeing effect of that comb would last for a whole week.
After leaving the pharmacy, the two walked along the main street. As they passed a bakery, they smelled the aroma of freshly baked buttered bread. Lux pulled Malena inside and bought two loaves of bread. Lumi poked her head out of the wicker basket, grabbed a small piece of bread, and started chewing, almost dropping breadcrumbs on the ground.
"Be careful!" Malena quickly used a cleaning spell to clean it up. "If the administrator sees you when you get back, you'll get points deducted again."
Lux waved her hand dismissively: "What's the big deal about losing points? Gryffindor has enough points right now, losing a few won't matter."
The two strolled around until noon, and Malena looked at the sky: "Let's go sit at Three Brooms, have a drink, and then go back."
Three Brooms Bar is located at the end of the main street. A broom-shaped sign hangs on the wooden facade, and the glass on the door is clean, allowing you to see the lively scene inside.
The two pushed open the door and went inside. The warm breeze felt comfortable all over. The bar was full of customers, mostly Hogwarts professors and villagers from the neighborhood, as well as a few people in Muggle suits who were talking in hushed tones.
Behind the bar stood a woman in a red dress with her curly hair tied up. Seeing them come in, she smiled and asked, "What would you two like to order? For non-alcoholic drinks, we have hot chocolate, mint soda, berry juice, and our newly made creamy pumpkin drink."
Marlena thought for a moment: "A cup of hot chocolate, with some milk foam."
Lux stared at a strange name on the menu: "What's this 'Mint Cod Soda'? It sounds interesting."
The woman paused for a moment, then smiled and said, "This is something I just tried today. It's mint-flavored soda with a touch of cod extract. The taste is a bit unique. Are you sure you want to try it?"
Lux nodded: "Yes, I like things that are special."
Marlena frowned. "Are you sure? It sounds awful."
"Give it a try, and if you don't like it, we'll change it." Lux sat down and placed the candy bag on the chair next to her. Lumi leaned over the edge of the table and stared curiously at the cups of the guests at the next table.
Soon, the drinks were served. Marlena's hot chocolate was steaming, topped with a thick layer of milk foam and sprinkled with cinnamon powder; Lux's mint cod soda was pale green, with a mint leaf floating on top, and had a slightly fishy smell.
Lux picked up her glass and took a sip. The coolness of the mint and the fishy taste mixed in her mouth, and the strange taste made her wrinkle her face. She forced herself to swallow it, and just as she was about to speak, she saw Lumi jump onto the table, bring her hands to the glass, and lick it.
The next second, Lumi jumped away with a "pop," sticking out its tongue and rubbing its mouth vigorously with its paws.
"Yue, this taste is still too much like the original..."
Malena couldn't help but laugh: "I told you it tasted awful, but you wouldn't listen."
Lux pushed the cup aside, picked up Malena's hot chocolate, and took a sip: "Let me have a sip, this is awful!"
The two wizards at the next table overheard their conversation and laughed. One of them, a wizard with a beard, said to Lux, "Little girl, I tried this mint cod soda yesterday, and it almost made me throw up my lunch. Butterbeer is much better."
Another wizard sighed, "These days, even drinking a beverage is so strange. Have you heard? Grindelwald's people are causing trouble again in Paris, and the French Ministry of Magic is about to surrender."
“Indeed,” the bearded wizard said in a low voice, “I heard from my Muggle friends that things aren’t peaceful over there either. Chamberlain’s ‘peace treaty’ is completely useless, and war might break out soon.”
Malena's face darkened, and she remained silent, simply sipping her hot chocolate. Lux also quieted down, recalling what she had heard about Grindelwald in Paris.
After finishing their drinks, the two paid the bill and prepared to return to the castle. Malena intended to return to Honey Duke the same way, but Lux followed an old wizard selling strange alchemical items and took a wrong turn. By the time she realized it, she had already walked into a secluded alley.
"Look at you," Malena said with a hint of exasperation, "now look what's happened, you're lost."
Lux scratched her head and pointed to a bar at the end of the alley: "How about we ask for directions? I think it's called Pig's Head Bar."
The two entered Pig Head Bar, which was much quieter than Three Brooms Bar, with dim lighting and the smell of beer and tobacco filling the air.
Behind the bar sat a man in a tattered coat, with a stubble beard and messy hair. A goat lay beside him. When they came in, he merely raised his eyelids.
"What would you like to order?" the man asked in a hoarse voice, holding a wine glass in his hand.
Malena walked over: "We want to go back to Hogwarts, but we've gotten lost. Do you know how to get back?"
The man glanced at them, then at the wicker basket in Lux's arms, where Lumi was peeking out, staring curiously at the goat.
He suddenly laughed and pointed to the door behind him: "There's a secret passage inside that leads directly to the Hogwarts kitchen. I'll take you back so you don't get lost again."
Lux's eyes lit up: "You even have a secret passage! Thank you so much!"
The man stood up, grabbed his coat from the back of the chair, and said, "My name is Aberforth. I used to be a student there too, so of course I know the way to Hogwarts."
Malena looked at him in surprise: "You're Professor Dumbledore's brother?"
It's clear that Malena did her homework before coming to Hogwarts, and she did some research on the school's officials.
"So what if it is?" Aberforth snorted, pushing open the door behind him. "Come on, and don't touch anything inside. My goats don't like strangers."
The two followed Aberforth through the door, which led to a narrow passage with several worn paintings hanging on the walls. At the end of the passage was a trapdoor leading to the kitchen. Aberforth pushed open the trapdoor, and the voices of house-elves could be heard from below.
"Go upstairs, the kitchen elves will show you the way back to the common room." Aberforth leaned against the doorframe. "Don't wander around like that again. Not all places in Hogsmeade are safe."
Lux nodded, pulled Malena out, and waved back at Aberforth: "Thank you, Mr. Dumbledore!"
Aberforth didn't say anything, he just waved his hand and closed the trapdoor.
The two stood in the Hogwarts kitchen, surrounded by several house-elves. One of them chuckled and said, "Gryffindor little wizards! Would you like to eat or go back to the tower?"
Malena looked at Lux and shook her head helplessly: "Next time I come out with you, I'll throw all your candy into the Black Lake."
Lux, clutching the bag of candy, smiled and said goodbye to the house-elf: "Hurry up, I'm going to dye my hair tonight!"
