Chapter 92 You are the real heroes

As Superman swiped his phone screen, his eyes quickly scanning a comment that seemed to be waiting for him to appear, he felt a surge of excitement and pride.

Superman knows that the world needs him; his appearance is not only that of a superhero, but also that of a symbol of hope.

"They like me~" Superman was as happy as a big kid.

However, when Superman scrolled down and saw those morally manipulative comments, he wasn't so happy.

"If Superman doesn't appear soon, he doesn't deserve to be called a hero," one comment asserted.

"Superman clearly has super eyesight and super hearing, and now this matter has become such a big deal, does it really take Superman three seconds to fly from Metropolis to defeat those three villains and fly back? Don't tell me he doesn't even have three seconds."

"I'd unfollow Superman if he didn't save people. We believe in him and support him because we hope he'll step up in crucial moments!"

Another comment directly threatened to unfollow, and it received tens of thousands of likes. There were also hundreds of other comments below, most of which were similar, with only a few defending Superman and saying that he might just be asleep.

"Is Superman just a hypocritical symbol? Hearing our cries for help but choosing to ignore them—this isn't the Superman I know. So all his usual antics were just an act after all?"

After reading the comments, Superman sighed and asked his assistant, "If I don't go to save them, will I lose a lot of fans? Maybe I'll even gain a lot more haters?"

"There probably won't be many, right?" The assistant said somewhat guiltily, "It's best if Superman doesn't go. There's a lot of buzz online right now, and she even feels that some big company is pushing it along, otherwise the topic wouldn't be so popular."

"Are you sure? If we lose more followers than I expect, you know what will happen." Superman said to his female assistant, whose heart was pounding. His super vision allowed him to see through most people's lies.

"Well... I'm not entirely sure, but judging from the situation online, it seems quite serious." The female assistant immediately changed her tune when she saw Superman's eyes faintly glowing red.

"And if I go to save people, I can gain a lot of fans, especially in New York?" Superman then asked, as his biggest concern was gaining fans.

"This should be it. This incident is the hottest topic in New York right now." The female assistant nodded. Bruce was definitely going to be ruthless towards her. Now, her only hope was that Superman could protect her.

On the other side, Dian Deng looked at the crowd chanting "Superman" and curled his lip in disdain.

"Superman? That shameless trash, laughable~ No one can save you today."

"Is that so?" Wearing a uniform with an "S" embroidered on the chest, Superman hovered behind the Lamplighter.

The name Superman spread through the crowd instantly, bringing waves of excited screams and cheers. His appearance was like a ray of dawn in the darkness, instantly igniting hope in people's hearts.

No one doubted that Superman was no match for these three supervillains; the outcome was decided the moment Superman appeared.

Superman's eyes gleamed with a hint of joy and smugness as he surveyed the cheering crowd before fixing his gaze on the lamplighter. His voice was calm yet powerful: "Accept the consequences of your actions."

Before the words were even finished, Superman had already taken action. His movements were simple yet efficient; with a single, light punch, he sent the Lamplighter flying. The Lamplighter, as if stripped of all his strength, lay on the ground groaning in pain, unable to rise again.

With ease, Superman subdued the arrogant villain, then blinked twice more, and the telekinetic and physical enhancement users who tried to escape also fell down.

The whole process took less than a second, but it was incredibly impressive.

Upon witnessing this scene, the crowd was initially deathly silent, then erupted in thunderous applause and cheers, chanting Superman's name in unison.

"Superman! Superman! Superman!"

Amid the cheers of the crowd, Superman's heart was filled with extreme satisfaction and the joy of vanity.

Superman was in the air, enjoying the worship and praise of the people. At this moment, he felt as if he were the center of the world, and his smile was harder to suppress than AK's.

Moments later, amidst cheers from the crowd, Superman landed gracefully, a humble smile on his face, seemingly striving to demonstrate his modesty and selflessness. He glanced around, every movement imbued with calculated elegance.

"You're welcome, it's what I should do." Superman's voice resounded through the crowd, his eyes shining with what seemed to be sincerity. "Everyone here, your courage and perseverance are the true strength of this city."

Upon hearing this, the crowd shouted "Superman!" even louder, and Superman couldn't help but grin even wider.

Then, Superman slowly walked over to several police officers who were injured in the chaos. He asked them about their injuries in a low voice, and after learning that they were not seriously injured, he looked relieved, smiled happily, and patted them on the shoulder.

"You are the true heroes of this city; it is your courage that has protected the peace here."

Tony Stark sat in his spacious living room, adjusting his armor with screws while his eyes were glued to the news broadcast on the screen, his eyes filled with rage.

In the video, Superman is receiving cheers from the crowd and the spotlight from the media. His carefully calculated humility and heroic demeanor move everyone present.

But in Tony's eyes, it was all just another elaborate show by Superman, and this time, the show was actually reaping what he had gained.

A flash of anger crossed Tony's face. He clenched his fists and angrily smashed his glass against the screen.

This should have been his stage, the perfect opportunity to showcase Iron Man's skills and courage. Tony was prepared to use this event to once again prove Stark Industries' leading position in high-tech weaponry and defense systems, and his own irreplaceable status as a superhero. However, now, all the spotlight has been stolen by Superman.

Moreover, everyone in the industry knows that it was their prey there. Now that Superman has taken it from them, how will everyone feel about themselves?

Soon Bruce Wayne called, and Tony's voice was icy.

"Bruce! Your men have overstepped their bounds!"

"Calm down, Tony. I'll reimburse Stark Industries double for what they spent on this. Don't let this affect our friendship," Bruce quickly advised, while inwardly cursing Superman and the female celebrity who led the chant of "Superman."

"It's not about the money, Bruce." Tony looked at Superman's smiling face on the shattered screen, and laughed angrily. Did he look like he was short of money?

"You trespass on my territory, steal my achievements, and expect me to remain calm? You seem to lack respect for me. In that case, prepare to face the wrath of the Stark Industries!"

Tony hung up the phone before Bruce could reply.
