Chapter 97 - I've been waiting for so long, today is finally here!
As night fell, the silvery moonlight cast a cool glow over Hogwarts Castle.
From a distance, the castle stands tall in the darkness, with a bright full moon hanging in the sky. Under the reflection of the twinkling stars, Hogwarts, this thousand-year-old castle, has a mysterious feel to it.
"It's beautiful, isn't it!"
At the edge of the Forbidden Forest, Quirrell, draped in a black cloak, gazed at Hogwarts Castle. His lips didn't move, yet strange sounds emanated from them.
"Yes...yes, Master," Quirrell said tremulously.
"Dumbledore has gone to the Ministry of Magic. We have all night to make our move," the voice said again.
"But...but..."
Quirrell said, trembling with fear, "Master, would Dumbledore be so easily fooled?"
The voice said, "Of course he wouldn't, but he'd act like he'd been fooled. If you know Dumbledore, you'd know he's a very hypocritical person."
Seeing that Quirrell remained silent, the voice sneered, "You think Dumbledore didn't notice me?...No! He knew all along that I was possessing you, but he had other plans, so he didn't make a move."
"Other plans?" Quirrell asked, puzzled.
Quirrell has not had an easy time these days.
Voldemort has been sleeping for the past few months in order to regain his power, only waking up when he drinks unicorn blood and then gives Quirrell new orders.
As for his encounter with Professor Don, it was actually just a coincidence.
Professor Don ventured into the Forbidden Forest to gather material for his lecture, only to encounter Quirrell, who was attacking a unicorn. Their opposing stances naturally escalated into a fierce battle.
Since Voldemort was conscious at the time, Professor Don was naturally no match for him.
He was defeated after only a short exchange.
Having already attacked the professor, Voldemort naturally didn't want to wait any longer.
He obtained a lot of useful information using the Crucifixion and Legilimency, but he was unable to obtain the most crucial information.
Is the Philosopher's Stone still in the restricted area on the fourth floor?
So Voldemort activated Malfoy as a hidden agent.
It's not difficult to alter Malfoy's memories. His father, Old Malfoy, was a Death Eater, and given Malfoy's upbringing, he actually admired Voldemort quite a bit.
By focusing on this point, he could get Malfoy to work for him.
Malfoy's investigation was a success.
Although Dumbledore arrived in time, Voldemort had already obtained the information he wanted—the Philosopher's Stone was hidden in the restricted area on the fourth floor.
So the next task is to transfer Dumbledore away from Hogwarts.
Closer to home.
"If Dumbledore didn't have other plans, do you think he would turn a blind eye to the Forbidden Forest?"
Voldemort's tone was full of sarcasm, "What does he think that brat can do? Harry Potter... the legendary boy who survived... he's just lucky."
Harry Potter was just an ordinary baby, but that woman...
Even today, Voldemort still cannot understand what happened that night.
His killing curse was reflected back just like that.
"Harry Potter?" Quirrell asked, somewhat puzzled. This was the first time Voldemort had spoken to him so much in recent days.
"If it weren't for Harry Potter, Dumbledore would have done something to you long ago."
Voldemort didn't want to recall what happened that night, so he abruptly changed the subject, "Go, my loyal servant! With the Philosopher's Stone, I will grant you everything, including eternal life and the secret to preventing death."
In recent days, Voldemort has been secretly plotting and playing a game with Dumbledore, and he has naturally become aware of Dumbledore's thoughts.
He was overjoyed.
The more Dumbledore values Harry Potter, the more it proves his own powerlessness.
Dumbledore is really getting old.
Voldemort was fully aware of this.
If he can be resurrected... he can have everything.
Resurrection doesn't necessarily require a magic stone; it's just the optimal solution at present.
There is another way…
The bones of one's father, the blood of one's enemy, the flesh of one's servant... when the three are combined to reshape the body, one can naturally be resurrected.
Voldemort has decided that if he fails to steal the Philosopher's Stone this time, he will use that method to resurrect himself.
He couldn't wait any longer.
"Yes...yes, Master!" Quirrell shuddered.
Quirrell looked up at Hogwarts Castle, then walked unsteadily toward it.
……
Tonight is destined to be anything but peaceful.
At the entrance to the Gryffindor common room, Harry, wearing an Invisibility Cloak, tiptoed silently forward.
After walking a few dozen steps, Ron suddenly grabbed Harry, almost pulling him into a split.
"What's wrong?" Harry asked, turning around.
Ron was trembling all over, pointed a shaking finger at a corner of the wall, opened his mouth, but couldn't say a word.
"Harry Potter...!"
A low murmur, seemingly carrying a sense of unrestrained pleasure.
Snape stood against the wall like a shadow, and no one knew how Ron had found him.
"Snape!" Harry exclaimed.
Snape's face showed obvious disgust. "You're just like your father—arrogant and stupid..."
“My father is not arrogant,” Harry argued, blushing.
Snape waved his wand, and a dazzling light flashed from the tip.
He used his wand to remove Harry's Invisibility Cloak, and said dismissively, "So there's Weasley too... Our famous Savior, and his henchman, are they preparing to save the world once again?"
Ron's face turned bright red; he wished he could pull out his wand and shove it in Snape's face.
Harry looked at Snape. "You should know that someone's trying to steal the Philosopher's Stone, right?"
Although Harry had always suspected Snape, Dumbledore vouched for him, and Harry, however unwilling, chose to believe him.
Especially in tonight's circumstances—he was utterly powerless to resist.
Snape gave a sneer. "So our savior wants to protect the Philosopher's Stone?"
To wait for this day, Snape had stayed up for several nights in a row. If it weren't for potions, he wouldn't have been able to hold on.
After meeting Andy on the fourth floor of the castle that night, Snape realized something.
An attack has occurred at the school, and given Harry's personality, he might, like his father, want to be a hero and catch the attackers alone.
So after talking with Dumbledore that night, Snape went to the Gryffindor dormitory and started blocking the door.
Two days passed, and Harry was caught red-handed.
"The Philosopher's Stone is in danger!" Harry shouted relentlessly.
Snape sneered. "Dumbledore will handle this himself. I think you two are more dangerous than the Philosopher's Stone."
