Hogwarts: Who made her a professor?
Chapter 444 Deep Sisterly Affection
Chapter 444 Deep Sisterly Affection
Aside from her hair color, Narcissa Malfoy was no different from most of the Black family.
With fair skin and outstanding looks, he possessed an arrogance stemming from his very bones, as well as a pure-blooded sense of superiority.
Narcissa also had a peculiar habit: whenever she was with someone she considered lowly, she would show a look of disgust.
Narcissa, now walking into the farmhouse accompanied by Ministry of Magic staff, wore this expression, as if the female batter beside her hadn't bathed in a long time.
It wasn't until she entered the drawing room that the expression on Narcissa Malfoy's face disappeared, as if she had smelled something unpleasant.
Narcissa had no right to be arrogant in front of Belvina, especially since she had come to ask for a favor tonight. There was no reason for her to be so arrogant when asking for a favor.
"I thought you wouldn't see me."
Narcissa spoke slowly, looking at her cousin sitting on the sofa, her heart filled with a myriad of emotions.
There was a time when the two, though not exactly sisters, got along very well and would get together from time to time.
Nowadays, even just wanting to meet someone requires permission and undergoes checks.
"I didn't want to see you," Belvina said. "As you can see, the people in the ministry not only have to guard the Fertile Plain, but also protect my safety."
She paused for a moment, then continued, "Of course, my reason for not wanting to see you isn't solely because you need to undergo examination."
Whether it was Miss Black in the past or Mrs. Malfoy now, being searched by Ministry of Magic staff is an insult.
However, Narcissa endured the insult for the sake of her family, her husband, and her children.
"I saw it," Narcissa said. "I just apparated in the Fertile Plains, and people immediately surrounded me."
Narcissa then sat down on the nearest sofa. Belvina didn't invite her to sit down for a while, so Narcissa had to find a place for herself.
"There's no way around it, these are necessary protective measures," Belvina said calmly. "I don't want missing person reports or death reports on my desk."
Narcissa could hear the barbed words in Belvina's voice, and she could also see the impatience on Belvina's face.
At the farmhouse in Fertile Plains, Narcissa Malfoy is an unwelcome guest.
"I want to talk to you, Belvina," Narcissa said. "About what's been happening lately."
"What's been going on lately?" Belvina asked knowingly. "Oh, I remember now, Draco received the prefect's badge."
Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Draco will be fifth-year students at Hogwarts starting tomorrow. Ron, Hermione, and Draco have all received their prefect badges.
Being a prefect at a magic school isn't exactly a prestigious honor, but it's a good start.
"That's not what I'm talking about, you know what I'm going to say, Belvina," Narcissa said, her face pale in the lamplight.
Narcissa pursed her lips and continued, "You know perfectly well what I'm going to say—well, I want to talk to you about my husband—"
Before anyone could finish speaking, Belvina had already raised her arm and pointed to the door.
The meaning she wanted to convey was simple: she didn't want to talk about anything related to Lucius Malfoy.
Narcissa wasn't blind; she could certainly see Belvina's body language, but she couldn't just leave like that. She wanted to try again.
For Narcissa Malfoy, the Ministry of Magic, the Order of the Phoenix, and the Death Eaters were all unimportant; all she cared about was her family, her husband, and her son.
"Belvina, Lucius is my husband, Draco's father. Do you really want to send him to prison?"
Narcissa looked at Belvina and continued, "If only the Ministry of Magic could declare him innocent like it did a decade or so ago—"
'
"Did I ask him to join the Death Eaters?" Belvina couldn't take it anymore and had to interrupt Narcissa once again.
Belvina lowered her arm, which had been pointing towards the door, and continued, "Was it me who made him a Death Eater in his student days? Was it me who made him stand behind the Dark Lord again more than a decade later?"
The two questions in that sentence immediately silenced Narcissa, leaving her speechless and unable to utter a word.
Narcissa had always known that her husband was a Death Eater, but she didn't think it was a big deal.
She was raised with pure-blood superiority; her older sister was a Death Eater, her cousin was a Death Eater—what's wrong with that?
"Belvina, Lucius is just—he's actually just like us, a proponent of pure blood. He's just doing what he thinks is right."
Narcissa's tone carried a hint of pleading; she was so eager to plead for her husband that she forgot Belvina's other identity as a Muggle Studies professor at Hogwarts.
The current Belvina Black is no longer the little kid who used to mimic her mother's words.
"Please note that you two are a couple, and I am me. Don't confuse me with you," Belvina said, her tone sounding somewhat ruthless.
With that, Belvina let out a loud, mocking laugh, looking as if Sirius Black had possessed her.
"Lady Malfoy," not Narcissa, nor the more affectionate Sissy, but the stiff Lady Malfoy.
"What did you call me?" Narcissa stared at Belvina in astonishment; the curt and cold address chilled her to the bone.
"Of course, Mrs. Malfoy. What do you think I should call you, Sissie?"
Belvina's gaze turned cold, and she continued, "Don't be ridiculous, Mrs. Malfoy. Do you think you can tolerate anyone but the Malfoys?"
"I don't know what you're talking about." Narcissa hurriedly tidied her hair. "I just hope you can be merciful and let my husband go."
"Mrs. Malfoy," Belvina suddenly raised her voice, "have you even thought of me, your cousin, these past few years?"
For the first time tonight, Belvina looked Narcissa in the eye and said, "If you still considered me your cousin, you wouldn't have come tonight, much less plead for Lucius Malfoy."
Nessa felt a chill run down her spine, both from the tone of her voice and the way she looked at her.
"Lady Malfoy must remember what happened that night of the Quidditch World Cup final a year ago, right?"
Before Narcissa could speak, Belvina continued, "That night, a group of people dressed as Death Eaters caused a riot, and your husband Lucius Malfoy was among them."
Narcissa opened her mouth, wanting to refute, but unable to, because the riot that night was organized by her husband, Lucius.
"Your husband is not only a rioter, but he also used an Unforgivable Charm on the Ministry of Magic officials who came to stop him. Guess who that official was?"
Although the riots were organized by Lucius Malfoy, Narcissa herself was not involved and had no idea about it.
"That Ministry of Magic official who was almost hit by the Killing Curse was me, Mrs. Malfoy. I was so close," Belvina gestured in a way that was hard for South Korea to accept, "I was just a hair's breadth away from dying."
"I don't know—I really don't know—" Narcissa's tone became even more flustered, and her face grew even paler.
Belvina leaned forward slightly, her gaze becoming even sharper. Narcissa, unable to withstand the pressure, lowered her head, not daring to meet Belvina's eyes.
Even without this personal grudge, Belvina would not have let Lucius Malfoy off the hook, since he had returned to Voldemort's side again.
"Think about it, you two are husband and wife. If your husband wants to kill me, of course you'd be on his side."
Belvina sneered and continued, "If you treat your own two older sisters like this, what about me, your cousin?"
When Bellatrix Lestrange was imprisoned for kidnapping and torturing the Longbottoms, Lucius Malfoy tried his best to distance himself from his sister-in-law.
Two kinds of people can't sleep in the same bed. Lucius tried his best to distance himself from the relationship, and Narcissa also deliberately avoided it.
From the day she became Mrs. Malfoy, Narcissa had only her husband and son in her eyes, and she did everything she could to protect the interests of the Malfoy family.
She avoided her sisterly relationship with Bellatrix to help her husband Lucius avoid being implicated; she maintained her sisterly relationship with Belvina to help her husband Lucius expand his influence in the Ministry of Magic.
For Lucius Malfoy, Narcissa was undoubtedly an exceptionally good wife who never felt torn between Malfoy and Black.
"Have you considered visiting Bellatrix in Azkaban?"
Narcissa was speechless.
"Have you thought about visiting Andromeda? Do you know how old her daughter is?"
Narcissa opened her mouth again, intending to say that Andromeda, who had married a Mudblood, had been expelled from the family.
"Ha!" Belvina's sneer grew louder. "Should I thank you two for not distancing yourselves from me because of Sirius?"
Sirius Black alone is worth Bellatrix and Andromeda. He was first expelled from the Black family and then spent twelve years in Azkaban.
A suffocating silence fell over the spacious living room.
Belvina looked coldly at Narcissa, at this woman who had abandoned everything except her husband and son.
Narcissa, flustered and confused, lowered her head. Her world was small, consisting only of her husband and children. She didn't care about grand topics like politics, nor about goodness and justice, and she didn't even care much about pure bloodlines.
Apart from Lucius and Draco, Narcissa doesn't care about anyone or anything; she only values her family.
Lucius is Voldemort's servant, and his wife Narcissa is Voldemort's supporter; if Lucius joins the Order of the Phoenix, Narcissa will support Dumbledore.
Now, Narcissa's family is in crisis, and the only solution she can think of is Belvina.
Even if Belvina's attitude was terrible, even if she kept making sarcastic remarks, as long as she hadn't been kicked out, Narcissa would try to persuade her.
