Chapter 632 It seems I'm not a mutant.

Soon, Rune brought Aisley back. Aisley still seemed somewhat reluctant to get close to Logan, but at least her emotions weren't as intense as before.

"Dad, I'm back." Ashley's lips were still pursed, but at least she was willing to call Logan "Dad" again.

Logan crossed his arms, his mind filled with doubt. He hadn't expected Rune to be able to appease Asley so quickly.

"How did you do that?"

"What?" Rune asked, seemingly confused. "How did you do that?"

"Well—never mind." Logan didn't intend to pry, but what he didn't know was that this kind of job of disciplining rebellious girls was incredibly easy for Rune.

Filtering memories based on conditions, extracting them, and then pulling Aisley into this memory—this series of operations didn't even exceed the knowledge scope of a Hogwarts professor, not even that bumbling author.

After Logan pointed out each instance of his affection for Ashley and showed it to her, she immediately admitted her mistake. In fact, in terms of a father's responsibility, Logan far surpasses Ashley's real father, Hawkeye.

Hawkeye is indeed a hero, a true hero. He has been working tirelessly day and night to save this wasteland, doing countless jobs such as helping the resistance, assassinating oppressors, and killing Hydra underlings.

But as a father, he was extremely incompetent.

In the original story, Hawkeye had a child, Asley, with the niece of a comrade who was much younger than him. This is actually not wrong. In that kind of environment, it is very normal for two pitiful people to help each other, stick together for warmth, and develop feelings for each other over time.

However, Hawkeye then neglected Aisley, forcing his wife to live with a robot. Aisley herself became a delinquent due to her father's irresponsibility and other reasons.

Fortunately, Logan is now in charge of Ashley, and he's ruthless enough to keep her in check, preventing her from becoming the beast in the original story who sees the law of the jungle as the ultimate truth.

Rune glanced at Logan and continued to transmit the message telepathically into Logan's mind: "I haven't told Asley about her past yet. This is your job."

Logan nodded, indicating that he understood. He walked over to Ashley, half-squatted down to be at eye level with her, and then extended his hand.

He looked at his daughter, his melancholy and weathered eyes seeming to say everything, yet also saying nothing at all.

Aisley pursed her lips, hesitated for a moment, and finally offered her hand. She gently grasped Logan's hand, feeling details she had never noticed before—the thick calluses, the slightly trembling palm—

"I'm sorry, Dad. Did I hurt you?"

Logan ruffled Aisley's hair with his other hand. "It's alright, I'm Wolverine, no scar can stay on me."

They then hugged each other tightly, as if Rune beside them didn't exist. But soon, Andrei poked his head out of the portal, excitedly shouting, "Come quick! Come quick! I've brought you all your entry permits!"

After Andrei was kicked into the portal by Rune, he didn't stop. He first teleported Jade to the nursery and told her to wait there. Then he went to submit a report, wanting to bring Aisli and Rune in together.

Fortunately, the White Queen and Wolverine's subordinates each gave Andre an entry permit; otherwise, Andre would have had to spend a lot more time filling out the paperwork, which was a rather tedious and cumbersome task.

As he spoke, Andrei showed the access permit in his hand. It was not a pass in the traditional sense; it was not a card, it was not smooth, and even the two passes were different shapes. If you didn't know, an outsider would just think they were two ordinary stones.

Asri released Logan and gently took a stone. Andrei, who was standing beside her, began to say, "This is a stone from Krakor Island. If you hold it, Krakor will automatically recognize you as part of itself and allow you to pass through this portal."

A very clever approach.

However, Rune did not take the stone. Instead, he reached out and touched the pale blue portal, but all he felt was resistance.

"Looks like I'm not a mutant." Rune shrugged. Come to think of it, the fusion of magical beast bloodlines would eliminate the side effects of the bloodline at the cost of weakening the abilities, and being born a mutant was a negative trait in itself.

In Marvel comics, there are countless special weapons for targeting mutants. Viruses, robots, and even mutants themselves can easily eliminate the abilities of other mutants, or even kill them outright.

Logan clearly assumed that Rune also had a complicated past like Aisley's. He walked over to Rune, patted him on the shoulder, and comforted him, "Being a mutant isn't a good thing—"

"I know." Rune took the stone from Andrei's hand. "Let's go in and see what Krakor, the land of mutants, really looks like."

As soon as he stepped onto the land of Krakor, the wind carrying the scent of damp grass and flowers rushed towards him. Rune relaxed and opened his arms. Everything here was so beautiful, a world apart from the wasteland where Logan had been.

Upon arriving in an unfamiliar area, Logan instinctively extended his steel claws, his nostrils twitching as he vigilantly detected every unusual scent in the air.

"Relax, Logan, this is a land for mutants—this is Krakow!" Andrei said, spreading his arms wide, his voice filled with undisguised pride.

"Where's Judd?" Ashley looked around and, noticing her sister wasn't there, asked curiously, "Where is she?"

"I just took her to the daycare; the staff there will take good care of her," Andrei said with a smile.

At this moment, the three mutants behind him, who had barely spoken, ignored the others and left.

-

Andrei quickly explained to them, "Rasputin and the others are going to see my superior and then tell me everything that happened on their trip. That's going to be a real hassle—"

As he said this, a chill ran down his spine, as if he had recalled some unpleasant memories. However, Andrei quickly recovered and walked briskly to the edge of a flower field full of purple blossoms, gesturing for everyone to follow.

"Look at all this. There are no humans hunting us down, no prejudiced eyes. We can use our abilities freely here, and even—create a better future."

He spoke proudly, his heart filled with pride, but Rune's self-illumination passed over Andrei and landed on the path not far away.

There were two figures wearing the same gray uniforms bending over to tend to the flower field. Their movements were so precise that they were almost mechanical. Even the angle of their raised hands and the degree of their bending were almost identical, as if they had rehearsed it.

As if sensing Rune's gaze, one of the figures raised his head, his eyes as empty as a soulless puppet, his skin pale as if devoid of color, and even his expression remained unchanged. After a moment, he mechanically lowered his head again and continued to repeat the previous action.

Rune and Logan exchanged a glance. Something seemed off here!
