Chapter 602 Not a Scumbag

"What were you doing just now?" Jaina asked, puzzled. Rune turned around, the red light in his eyes quietly fading away.

"I just taught a few bastards a lesson," Rune said calmly. Jaina didn't suspect anything and began to look around curiously at the little house that looked like a child's drawing.

Jaina and the other Dalaran mages could sense the unusual nature of this hut despite its bizarre appearance. Several of the more curious and daring mages had already taken out parchment and begun copying down the magical circuits within.

Goldling had no interest in any of that; he only cared about the man praised by Rune, the man suited to be his alpha wolf.

However, this is just a transit point, not the final destination.

Rune opened the portal again, this time to the Eternal Rock Sanctuary. He waited until the curious mages had finished taking notes before speaking up to remind them.

"Come in quickly. On the other side of the door is the gathering place of mages in this universe. They are also the partners you need to win over," Rune briefly introduced the importance of the sanctuary. "I hope you can realize the importance of this matter."

Jaina nodded immediately and solemnly, "Of course, our purpose in coming here is to unite the powers of other universes!"

Rune raised an eyebrow. Wasn't your purpose to come here for a visit?

He didn't ask any questions, but instead walked into the portal first, followed by the Azerothian mages led by Jaina.

Today, the Eternal Rock Sanctuary has become like the Sanctuary in the Marvel Universe, attracting a large number of mages. Their magic is completely different from that of Azeroth, thus immediately drawing the attention of all Azerothian mages.

"That's Kamar-Taj magic. Those mages need to borrow magic from powerful beings to cast spells," Rune explained.

Strictly speaking, the power of mages in the World of Warcraft universe also comes from a great being—Azeroth.

When the Titans vanquished Y'Shaarj, they left a wound on Azeroth, which formed the Well of Eternity. The night elves continuously drew magic from the well, allowing it to diffuse throughout the world like steam.

During the later War of the Ancients, the Well of Eternity exploded, and the magic spread, forming a layer of membrane on the planet, similar to an atmosphere. This membrane evolved into the Magic Net.

However, compared to the stingy gods in the Marvel Universe, the Azerothian Starsoul is much more generous; at least she doesn't make spellcasters pay back their debts.

"Borrow magic?" Jaina frowned. "Do I have to pay it back later?"

"Of course." Rune confirmed Jaina's guess, but before he could explain further, the king had already teleported out.

After exchanging pleasantries with Rune, Wang Cai looked at the group of curious children behind Rune, but he dared not be careless at all, as the magical fluctuations emanating from these guys were terrifying.

"With so many people here, aren't you going to introduce them?"

"These are all mages from another world, they are—" Rune was explaining the origins of these mages to the king, but after listening for a moment, Jaina stepped forward to bow and then tugged at Rune's sleeve.

Rune turned around and looked at Jaina with a questioning gaze. She whispered, "I don't understand your language—"

""

Snapped!

Despite all his calculations, Rune hadn't anticipated this: the humans of Azeroth and the humans of the DC universe don't speak the same language. All those trips to other worlds had led Rune to believe that the entire multiverse spoke English, but he had forgotten that Jaina and the others spoke the common language.

"Wait a moment," Rune said, then turned and placed his hand on Jaina's forehead before beginning to transfer knowledge.

A flood of fragmented memories rushed into the girl's head, causing Jaina to scream.

If you want to learn a language quickly, you have to endure the corresponding pain. But considering its convenience, Rune believes that if he were to use this ability to offer English courses, many people would be willing to enroll.

Even if it means the learner might faint from the pain.

The Dalaran mages continued their discussion, having guessed Rune's purpose, and therefore refrained from disturbing him.

The dark mage hadn't held their copying of the spell's loop against them, so the Dalaran mages thought Rune was a generous sharer. If Rune weren't currently casting a spell, they might have already rushed up to ask him about the spell's mechanics.

The mages were right; Rune was indeed happy to share, but this spell that could quickly teach someone something was probably impossible to pass on.

First, this spell is not perfect, and is even quite crude. Second, it does not rely entirely on magic to operate, and magic is not even the main power used in this spell. Psychic abilities are the most frequently used spell in this spell.

Within minutes, Jaina had successfully learned English, but at the cost of a headache; had she not been a mage, she probably would have fainted.

Now that there was a translator, Rune was ready to quit and leave Jaina and the Azerothian mages there to talk to the king in person. But the king and Jaina seemed to be on the same wavelength, grabbing Rune's arms from either side.

"Rune, these are the people you brought here!" the king said sternly. "You can't just ignore them!"

Although the King had little contact with Rune, the Sorcerer Supreme had already figured out the latter's lazy personality!

As one of the most powerful mages in the universe, Rune was completely indifferent to the legal system under the new magical order, even though he himself had created it.

-

He was too lazy to show up when setting up a protective shield for the spiritual realm of the Earth, only donating supplies, and was even unwilling to inherit the position of the Sorcerer Supreme.

Of course, this can't be entirely considered a drawback. At least the king doesn't need to worry about Rune suddenly having a brain fart and wanting to conquer the world or something. Ruling the world is just too troublesome for this lazy person.

"Where do you think you're going?" Jaina looked at Rune warily. "Are you going to abandon me?"

She and the other mages were unfamiliar with the place and its people. Now that Rune was gone, who would she go out to play with?

Hmm? Upon hearing Jaina's words, the king narrowed his eyes. What did she mean? There was something strange about what she said—could there be some kind of unspeakable relationship between them?

But according to Wanda, haven't Raven and Rune already pledged their love? Could it be that Rune's mistress from another world wants to take his place, so she brought her family here to demand an explanation?

This absurd idea rushed into the king's mind, but soon the Supreme Sorcerer shook his head violently.

What on earth is all this?!

Rune also felt that this statement was too misleading, so he directly said to Jaina, "You are the representative of mages from Azeroth, while the mage in front of you is the representative of mages from this universe. Of course, the specific matters of cooperation between the two worlds are for the two of you to discuss. What does it have to do with me?"

Hearing this, Wang finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Thankfully, Rune isn't a jerk, otherwise, that crazy guy who already treats Raven like a daughter—well, that would be hard to explain to Wanda—
