Chapter 587 Such a big eye, it would be a waste not to hit it.
The second phase of C'Thun is far more terrifying than the first phase, and its original body, which was bound within a solid shell, is finally able to see the light of day again.
Countless pale yellow, fleshy tentacles danced like wildly dancing mountains, each capable of easily piercing through the continental plates of Azeroth; the giant eye in the center, occupying half of the head, churned with a dark light deep within its pupil that could shatter the reason of intelligent beings.
It is the embodiment of flesh and madness, the proud creation of the Void Lord. It is the Thousand-Eyed Demon, and has its own source of pride.
C'Thun roared, and countless tentacles rained down on the runes. These tentacles secreted a large amount of thick acid that could corrode the earth, and the sharp teeth on the edges of the suckers gleamed coldly. Even the elemental armor could not stop them.
But Rune did not dodge.
Facing the onslaught of tentacles, he clenched his fist tightly, the bloodline of the Doomsday surging within him. Then, Rune swung his fist fiercely, his fist striking the countless tentacles.
In an instant, blood and flesh splattered, fangs snapped, and these terrifying tentacles became utterly vulnerable before the flesh that had endured the torment of the black hole.
This is Doomsday, the mirror image of Superman, a stark contrast to the hope he represents. This terrifying creature symbolizes absolute destruction and chaos.
When Rune truly used his power for destruction, the bloodline of Doomsday began to fully support him.
After crushing the tentacles, Rune strode forward and charged straight at C'Thun's main body, shattering the floor of the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj. Rune grabbed several of the thickest tentacles with his left hand, his arm muscles bulging, and slammed his right fist into C'Thun's body.
C'Thun tried to resist with his tentacles, but they couldn't even last half a second against Rune's fist, which then slammed into his eyes.
That eye is so big, wouldn't it be a waste not to hit it?
C'Thun let out a painful roar, and the blasphemous scream from the void directly impacted the rune's soul. Even the Alliance members of Azeroth, who were on the other side of the Scarab Wall and clearing out the remaining enemies, felt this terrifying power.
Many humans and orcs experienced headaches, especially those magic-based classes whose souls were relatively sensitive; these poor sages fainted in droves.
The night elves fared somewhat better; due to the lingering effects of the misuse of arcane energy during the War of the Ancients, none of these dark-skinned elves were mages.
The magic-based professions they work for are primarily druids, and due to factors such as prolonged travel in dreams and the blessing of the Wild God, the souls of druids are relatively stronger than those of other magic-based professions.
Some druids transformed into giant bears to fill gaps in the battle lines, while others began casting Moonfire to replace unconscious mages and provide ranged firepower for the team. Still others began transporting the wounded and using healing spells like Healing Touch and Rejuvenation to act as healers.
Fortunately, the number of those insectoids was not large, and they had lost their leader. In addition, C'Thun's Wailing was an indiscriminate attack, so the overall losses of the Alliance of Azeroth were not significant.
The aftermath of the battle had already left the Alliance of Azeroth in such a sorry state—Malfurion frowned.
Tyrande casually fired an arrow, piercing through a blasphemous creature resembling a hybrid of a beetle and a human from hundreds of meters away. Turning to her, she asked, "My love, why do you look so troubled?"
"It's because I fear the Old Gods will corrupt that powerful mage into a pawn of darkness—" Malfurion sighed. "I have no doubt that Runes can defeat that Old God buried in the earth, but the corrupt words of the Void—that's a different matter."
"But that's the meaning of the Alliance of Azeroth," Tyrande said expressionlessly. "We can't expect someone as powerful as a rune to fall from the sky every time and help us solve all our problems. That's unrealistic, isn't it?"
"You're right," Malfurion nodded.
However, they were all wrong. Between runes and the dark forces, the former was the dominant one. This wasn't because runes were stronger than the dark forces, but because the key to the new world lay in the hands of this mage.
At this moment, he was pinning C'Thun to the ground and beating him. The Old God kept shooting out dark flashes from his pupils, but Rune neither dodged nor avoided them, letting the beams hit his chest.
Although the red beam of light exploded on his skin, it did not leave him with the slightest mark; Rune's skin was even absorbing the power of the dark flash.
With a forceful pull of his left hand, he snapped off the tentacle he was holding, tearing off a large chunk of C'Thun's hard-shelled body tissue in the process. Shadows and viscous flesh mixed with void energy poured down, and the earth sizzled under this rain of blood.
C'Thun screamed again, green beams of light flashing as they aimed directly at Rune's head. Dark power surged from the wound, attempting to devour and dissolve the giant.
But Rune continued his attack on C'Thun, braving the torrent of shadows.
"No! Stop!" C'Thun screamed, extending countless tentacles to entangle Rune, attempting to physically block the giant's attack.
In response, Rune tensed his muscles and unleashed a visible surge of power. No matter how tightly the tentacles wrapped around him tightened and gnawed, they could only be broken and torn apart by him.
C'Thun let out a deafening scream, while Rune leaped high into the air, shattering the top of the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj and reaching the atmosphere. Then, he clenched his fists and his massive body crashed down like a meteorite.
C'Thun desperately tried to move his body to avoid the opponent's punch that came from the sky, but he failed.
boom!
This punch contains no technique of any kind, no additional magic, only a pure physical attack powerful enough to shatter stars.
At the moment the fists struck, time seemed to stand still, and the entire city of Silithus seemed to tremble slightly under the force of the blow.
C'Thun's roar abruptly ceased. His body, struck by those fists, was continuously compressed and disintegrated. The originally vast void energy instantly became disordered and dissipated, turning into countless tiny dark light spots.
C'Thun howled in agony. As a creation used by the Void Lords to corrupt the Supreme Star Soul, this Old God's physical strength was also quite astonishing. Because of this, he was still able to barely survive such an attack, but this was not a good thing.
Rune gripped C'Thun's mangled body with both hands and ripped it apart.
The ancient god let out a final, feeble roar before losing all his power. His massive body began to lose its support, and his tentacles, hard shell, and viscous flesh ceased to move.
The brutal battle silenced the Void Lords who had come to observe, but cheers followed immediately.
Yay, that piece of trash is finally dead!
