Chapter 572 You are not Darkseid, you are...
Rune refrained from making a move primarily to test the strength of these orcs. As it turned out, although they were not native to Azeroth, they were still quite powerful. With them around, Rune could feel somewhat more at ease.
After regaining control of the puppet creatures and having them escort the others away, Rune flew alone to the summit of Mount Hyjal.
Mount Hydar was once the site of Nordrassil, where the World Tree grew, granting the night elves immortality. However, when they faced the Burning Legion, Malfurion blew the Horn of Cenarius, summoning hundreds of elven souls to self-destruct, ultimately defeating Archimonde.
But Nordrassil was also severely damaged. The night elves completely lost their immortality. Therefore, many elves believed that Nordrassil had been completely destroyed in the explosion.
But in reality, it is still alive. If the storyline doesn't change, Nordrassil will be revived in the future, but it will not be able to grant the night elves immortality again.
But at this point, it was difficult to say whether Nordrassil was alive or dead.
Its massive tree stump was transformed into the base of some kind of energy converter, its surface inlaid with Apokolips' technological creations, and a large amount of energy spread from the roots, rushing straight into the ships in the sky.
Rune crashed onto the mountaintop platform like a meteorite. From the point of impact, spiderweb-like cracks instantly spread over a hundred meters away, and the entire mountain groaned under the impact. Debris and dust shot into the sky.
But Rune simply waved his hand, and the smoke and dust were instantly cleared away.
However, the person opposite him was not the famous Dark Lord Darkseid, but someone else.
He wore jet-black armor, the famous emblem on his chest roughly scraped off and replaced by an Omega symbol branded with an ominous red glow, and a deep red cloak hung behind the throne like congealed blood.
His face was as resolute as a marble sculpture, but his eyes, which once symbolized hope and strength, were now a dark red burning with Omega energy, containing only coldness and no trace of humanity.
You can call him Clark Kent or Kal-El, but in any case, he is no longer Superman.
"I thought I was going to face the new god of Apokolips," Rune said coldly, "but I never expected to face a fallen god of the mortal realm."
Clark's eyes were cold, and he didn't even stand up.
But Rune knew why he was so arrogant—first, the Omega effect, which chose Clark and molded him into a new god of the apocalypse. That power belonged to the new god of the apocalypse, and the qualifications to become a god were one in a million, but Clark just happened to have the corresponding qualities.
"Leave, or die!"
But Rune was unwilling to back down. "Tell me, where is the original owner of that power? Where are his most loyal hound, Kind Grandmother, and his eldest son, Kalibak?"
Despite his burning anger, Rune still tried to subtly probe to find out which Superman the other person was.
Clark simply said calmly, "It's been a long time since I've heard these names, but—they're all dead."
My world has been utterly destroyed. Those I hated and those I loved have all turned to ashes. I thought I would be sad forever, but the result tells me—”
"Love and hate are just two emotions that will eventually fade away, only war—" He finally stood up, as if he had become interested, "War has never changed."
Rune didn't get any useful information from his words, so he patiently continued to probe, "I don't believe you've forgotten Louise."
Clark's eyes visibly flickered with confusion, but after a moment, he regained his composure and stared coldly at Rune. "It seems you know me quite well. Perhaps you are one of my kind, but you shouldn't have uttered that name—"
Without any further movement, the Omega rays, like two crimson lightning bolts, shot out from his neck and instantly struck Rune's chest.
Clark didn't use his full strength, but this strike was enough to wipe an entire city off the map. Rune's body was finally pierced by this blow.
Rune staggered backward before falling backward.
ended?
Clark lowered his hand, chuckled coldly, and the red light in his eyes dimmed slightly. He had seen too many like this; they might have challenged him with the same protective spirit he had shown when he protected Metropolis, but in the end, they all died.
He died by his own hand.
In the early days, Clark couldn't even tolerate the presence of Parademons within his sensory range; he hated these biological weapons, and the Omega Effect always helped him with that.
But later, when he became a sadist, a tyrant, Clark found himself unable to face these Parademons, all created from the native inhabitants of different universes, until later, until the project known as Weapon X appeared—
Clark finally dared to confront his own army.
Just as he turned to return to his throne, Clark's superhuman senses kicked in, and he heard a faint sound behind him.
That wasn't the howling of Parademons, nor the sound of weapons clashing. It was—something was growing. Listening to these sounds, Clark could even see countless buds of flesh writhing wildly, and bones regenerating rapidly.
He turned around abruptly.
Rune was getting up from the ground. At the wound on his chest, the new, denser grayish-white tissue was filling the gap at a speed visible to the naked eye. The surface of the wound was even beginning to condense a crystalline structure similar to a reflective coating.
This guy is evolving. The moment he was hit by the Omega attack, Rune's body began to analyze the energy and adjust its structure accordingly.
"Doomsday?" Clark wasn't naive, so his face darkened.
The dark lord finally realized that this was not a creature he could easily deal with.
Rune stared coldly at Clark, "It seems you didn't run into Jonathan and Martha. You must have lost your parents at birth to be able to launch such a sneak attack with such composure and desecrate the bodies of heroes—"
"Shut up!" Clark roared. "How dare you mention their names?"
"Ha, looks like you have adoptive parents. I thought you were an orphan," Rune scoffed, while mentally ruling out the Red Son. This Superman hadn't crashed in America, but landed in Ukraine, so naturally he couldn't possibly know Jonathan and Martha.
This time, Clark didn't indulge Rune. The Omega energy in his eyes converged on an unprecedented scale, and a constantly rotating dark red energy sphere hovered in front of him, with black arcs of electricity jumping on its surface.
"Go to hell!"
