Chapter 292 Runes VS Guardians of the Galaxy (Part 1)

If he could, Rune wouldn't want to fight this battle; it's pointless.

Moreover, the Guardians of the Galaxy are no ordinary force. Don't let their appearance as a group of interstellar thugs fool you; as a heroic group, they boast Drax and Groot as their frontline fighters, Thor, Angela, and Nova providing both tankiness and damage output, top-tier crowd control like Cosmo and Mantis, and even a special talent like Rocket Raccoon who excels at creating explosions. Even Star-Lord possesses an elemental gun whose power depends on his imagination and willpower.

Aside from the lack of healing abilities, the Guardians of the Galaxy's roster couldn't be more luxurious, but that's not a big problem. In fact, apart from the X-Men having an Omega-level healer named Dan, the other heroes in the group basically have to rely on their own self-healing abilities or the magical healing abilities of sorcerers to survive.

Now, Rune is forced to fight such a team, simply because they are stubborn enough to want to uncover the truth behind this multiverse catastrophe even knowing they are courting death. Look at that man named Star-Lord; his legs went weak from Rune's warning, yet he still raised his elemental gun, attempting to threaten him.

That's really touching.

But this did not stop Rune from using force. He did not make any move, but an energy wave composed of a huge amount of dark magic appeared out of thin air and shot towards the Guardians of the Galaxy. Around the Celestials, some blurry, suffocating sounds appeared because of this dark magic, as if someone was whispering.

The Nova was the first to rush forward. The current Nova is Sam Alexander, who is currently just a boy about the same age as Rune. He is not the first Nova, and his rank is not the highest in the Nova Corps, but he can unleash the power of a Nova soldier of the highest rank.

Although he is two years older than Rune, he is not as mature as Rune and often does some irrational and immature things. Moreover, because he has the power given to him by the Nova Corps, he is somewhat arrogant. These little quirks, on the contrary, make Nova get along very well with the other Guardians of the Galaxy members.

However, when faced with Rune's magical attack, Nova felt powerless once again. He had done his best to create a protective shield with his Nova energy, but the terrifying dark magic was eroding the shield at an extremely fast speed, and the huge impact also pushed Nova away.

Others naturally wouldn't stand idly by.

Angela bypassed the Nova and used the blind spot created by the massive pillar of dark magic energy to quickly approach Rune. She then leaped out, her two Siphus short swords drawing perfect arcs in the air, aiming straight for Rune's throat. However, Rune had already sensed her intention through his beast instincts. He didn't even glance at Angela before she felt herself crash into an invisible wall and be thrown back, slamming into a huge, hard bone.

"Damn it, this mage looks so weak, how come he's so hard to deal with!" Rocket Raccoon cursed loudly. He set up a gun—or cannon—that was a bit too big for his size and started firing wildly. This was to cover Angela and prevent her from being chased by Rune and losing her fighting ability.

They had been partners with Angela for a long time and had never seen her so wolfish. Inherited from Odin and the brutal training of the Tenth Realm, Angela was invincible in these kinds of boarding battles, but then she encountered Rune, a tough nut to crack.

They were knocked away before they could even get close.

The massive energy bullets fired from the Rocket Raccoon Cannon suddenly changed direction as they approached Rune, striking one side of the corpse. However, it seemed that this level of damage was insufficient to harm the Celestials.

"Damn it, I hate fighting mages!" Star-Lord yelled, raising his elemental gun and firing it repeatedly at Rune.

The four elemental bullets—earth, ice, fire, and wind—along with bullets that combined in pairs and acquired complex effects, flew toward the wizard, but the effect was not significant. The elemental bullets eventually shattered into primal energy upon hitting Rune's magical shield.

Gamora attempted a surprise attack from the side, but Rune pulled out a long red silk ribbon and casually threw it at her. The ribbon immediately wrapped around the woman known as the most dangerous woman in the universe. Not only that, but Gamora also felt a strong burning sensation when she tried to struggle, and her strength was rapidly disappearing.

"Let her go!"

Drax charged forward, roaring and wildly swinging his dagger, but Rune merely waved his hand dismissively.

He was sent flying as if struck by an invisible giant hammer, knocking over Star-Lord who was firing elemental bullets.

Star-Lord, pinned down by the massive and heavy Drax, let out a weak, mournful cry. Drax immediately rose and released his nominal leader.

"Sorry," Drax said expressionlessly, without even glancing at Star-Lord.

Star-Lord rolled his eyes. "If only you had a little sincerity in your apology."

But he also knew that Drax's apology was already a great favor to him. This wasn't the goofy character from the MCU. In the comics, Drax carried a deep-seated hatred, and all his actions were aimed at killing Thanos. If Star-Lord's orders contradicted his goal of killing Thanos, Drax would not hesitate to resist.

Rune was getting impatient. Following the mental attacks that others couldn't see, he found the powerful psychic—a dog in a spacesuit. The dog's frequent mental attacks were irritating him.

"Get out of here!" Rune's eyes widened, and two crimson magical blasts poured out instantly.

He wasn't Professor X, and he wasn't particularly familiar with the use of psychic abilities, much less so than Cosmo, who had used psychic abilities to protect the Void for countless years. However, Rune never acquired psychic abilities for offense; it was merely a defense against psychic users. He had countless ways to deal with such psychic users.

Angela, who was knocked away but returned, realized the danger of the move. She quickly threw out the ribbon on her body and pulled Cosmo over. This ribbon was actually a magical artifact, so it was enough to grab Cosmo and take him away from the danger in a short time.

The next moment, the magical impact blasted a clear charred mark on the spot where Cosmo had been sitting—this was the body of a Celestial. Angela turned to look at Rune, which meant that this guy actually had the power to injure a Celestial.
