Chapter 241 Impact Target—The Cancerous Universe
Rune condensed Odin's blood into a golden sphere and stored it in the small sphere given by Odin, but he would not use Odin's blood for bloodline fusion.
The reason is simple: although in the movies, Asgardians are simply classified as aliens, in the comics, Asgardians are a true race of gods. Their ancestor was Gaia, one of the four strongest Old Gods on par with Oshutu, and the only Old God who resided permanently on Earth. One of her incarnations created Odin's grandfather.
However, bloodline was not the reason for Odin's strength. When fighting the fire giant Surtur, Odin's two brothers sacrificed themselves and passed on their power to Odin, creating the powerful Odin Force. Later, Odin sacrificed his right eye to gain countless knowledge and the method to defeat the serpent. After becoming the new god-king, he conquered the nine realms and gained countless combat experiences.
These acquired factors are the fundamental reason for Odin's power.
If Rune were to forcibly undergo bloodline fusion, it would likely only result in a slight enhancement of his physique, which would be completely unnecessary. Moreover, even if bloodline fusion were to be carried out, Rune would prefer to use Thor's blood directly, as Thor is actually the child of Odin and Gaia, and his potential is clearly greater than Odin's.
The giant serpent looked at the eight Heavenly Hammer Venerables behind it and shook its head.
"What's wrong?"
"They're not as good as last time," the giant snake sighed. The last Heavenly Hammer Venerable included the Thing, the Hulk, and...
With powerful beings like Titania, Earth's forces were insignificant in his eyes at the time. Given the quality of his subordinates, conquering the Nine Realms again wouldn't be a big problem at all.
However, Red Skull's rampage and plan to seize the Infinity Stones for a massive invasion consumed countless well-known villains. The treacherous Red Skull's daughter, Original Sin, and Green Goblin were killed by the Punisher, and Doctor Doom's whereabouts remain unknown.
Currently, the new Heavenly Hammer Masters of Orochi include Juggernaut, Titania, Sea Demon, Absorber, Sandman, Abomination, Carnage, and Red Hulk.
Compared to the previous eight Hammermasters, Orochi's Hammermasters are significantly weaker this time. Juggernaut has lost Cyttorak's blessing, and Hulk and Thing are not among them.
Odin wasn't particularly interested in these superheroes or supervillains, and couldn't accurately assess their strength, but he understood the serpent's obvious hint and immediately cooperated: "You've seen it too, the serpent has pulled out its trump card, but it's clearly not enough. Look—..."
Odin's intention, of course, was to get Rune to help fight against another universe. He couldn't possibly help Rune attract customers while fighting against another universe at the same time, could he? That would be too much to handle.
Rune remained silent for a moment.
This wasn't just a hint; it was an explicit statement. He still had some bottom lines. There was no enmity between him and the other universe for the time being, so Rune was hesitant to take action.
After a long silence, Rune finally asked, "Could you show me what Earth looks like in another universe?"
He hoped the other universe that was about to collide with him would be a zombie universe, so that he wouldn't feel any guilt when killing creatures from that universe.
The giant serpent sneered, "Hypocrite! With someone as indecisive as you around, you'll kill all humanity in both universes! Still clinging to your so-called bottom line at a time like this, foolish!"
"It's because I have a bottom line that you can feel at ease making deals with me." Rune looked at the giant serpent. He wasn't afraid of this former god-king. Instead, he directly said sarcastically, "If I were shameless enough, you would never see me again after receiving your reward."
Before the serpent could retaliate, Rune continued, "In my opinion, it is your utter lack of principles that is leading to your own destruction. Your shameless actions have angered everyone, and in the end, even your own brothers wanted to kill you. Serpent, you are indeed ruthless, but have you won? Look at the Asgardians now, and even the inhabitants of the Nine Realms—which God-King do they acknowledge?"
The serpent was so enraged that its entire body glowed green, but reason allowed it to barely suppress the power of fear. Most of the universe was now in chaos, and the fear it had generated had greatly amplified the serpent. If a real fight broke out, Rune, who had not yet thoroughly studied the energy of the universe, would certainly be no match for it. However, Rune would have more than enough time to escape.
"Hmph!" The giant snake flicked its sleeve and left.
Odin wasn't the only one who opposed the Serpent; his brothers were also fed up with its rule. Apart from the regions controlled by Olympus, Asgard's ally, the rest of the world was in ruins. After defeating the Serpent, Odin was forced to kill all the giants on Earth and erase humanity's memories.
Therefore, when Rune contradicted the serpent, Odin actually appreciated Rune even more. After all, the difference between Odin and the serpent lay in their bottom line: "He's always like this." After the serpent left, Odin patted Rune on the shoulder: "If the situation hadn't been extremely critical, I wouldn't have let him out."
Then, Odin raised his spear and casually waved it, and a vision of another universe appeared before Rune's eyes.
The bad news is that this universe is not the Lost Universe he hoped for.
Good news: This universe is a cancerous universe.
In the vision Odin revealed, a corrupt and decadent planet appeared. The Earth there was a sickly purplish-red color, with countless enormous tentacles bearing mouthparts growing from it. The sun in the distance did not emit the yellow light it had in other universes; instead, it emitted a yellowish-green light like the liquid oozing from a festering sore. Countless horrible blasphemous monsters were roaming the universe.
In the center of the image are the Avengers—no, in this universe they are called the Vendetta. Iron Man and War Machine's armor is entirely made of flesh and blood; Captain America's shield and body are emblazoned with a pentagram, and his eyes emit a terrifying red light; the Hulk has horns on his head; and the Wasp has transformed into a giant insect. As for the X-Men—in this universe they are called the EX-Men—their transformations are even more childlike, with flesh and muscle arranged like randomly pieced-together building blocks, and mouths and eyes seemingly embedded in them as if they were free.
Surrounding them were countless indescribable, terrifying monsters, driven to madness by commands from the polyhedron. The goal of these monstrous creatures was clear: to kill all obstacles and live until the end of the universe.
Rune breathed a sigh of relief. Now, he could unleash his full power and go on a killing spree.
"I will help fight against the other universe, don't worry," Rune said, then opened a portal and left.
