Chapter 45 An Invitation from Gotham University

"hiss..."

With the nurse's help, the bandages were removed and the ointment was temporarily replaced. Lucius put his coat back on and put away the few remaining pills.

Through the glass window of the ward, Lucius could see at a glance the many large men crouching outside the room.

Those guys in cheap suits with bulging pockets must be Penguin's men.

Lucius frowned as he recognized the nearly two-meter-tall giant at the head of the group as Chris, whom he had met once before.

"Why are they here?"

Why is the Penguin looking for me instead of conducting a large-scale search of Gotham's gangs?

"Knock knock knock".

Just as Lucius was pondering this, there was a knock on his door.

After straightening his clothes, Lucius casually said, "Please come in."

"Hello, are you Officer Lucius?"

A red-haired girl wearing a light green shirt walked into the ward. She looked to be around twenty years old, with bright eyes and a vibrant personality.

"Yes you are?"

There seemed to be an unusually large number of visitors today, and Lucius looked puzzled as he faced the girl who carried books with her.

He had thought this person would be one of the Penguin's henchmen, but who is he?

"Ah! It's an honor to meet you. My name is Barbara, and I'm a librarian at Gotham University."

With her eyes shining, Barbara had made inquiries from various sources to find Lucius's whereabouts.

"A librarian?"

Lucius glanced at the book in the girl's hands and nodded. "Is there something you need?"

"Actually, our library is preparing to publish a newspaper, and I'm the reporter this time... so I wanted to come and interview you."

Interview?

Still wondering how the other party had found him, Lucius heard a cheerful voice again—

"Lucius! Look, would this plant be suitable?"

Holding a ginseng root in her hands, Pamela quickly entered the ward.

Recognizing her classmate, Barbara's eyes widened, and she exclaimed in surprise, "Pamela?"

"Hmm? You are...?"

Seemingly unfamiliar with Barbara, Pamela slowed her pace and approached Lucius with a strange expression after discovering there were other people in the room...

"I'm Barbara, the one from this year's speech contest, a computer science student. Remember me?"

"Ah, it's you!"

Pamela nodded in realization, recalling the outstanding student who was highly regarded in her class.

The two classmates met, and Lucius looked at Pamela curiously, asking softly, "Why does she know you?"

"I don't know... but I've heard that Miss Barbara has an exceptionally good memory; she remembers almost every classmate she's ever met."

Pamela never expected that she, who was completely invisible at school, would be so thoroughly remembered by Barbara.

"Hey... what are you guys talking about?"

Seeing the two people in front of her suddenly whispering to each other, Barbara's eyes lit up with intense interest.

She did know Pamela, but it was at a freshman welcome party, where the introverted girl was hiding in a corner of the garden, talking to the plants.

Barbara never expected that this girl, who had no friends at the academy, now seemed to have a lover... and it was Lucius!

Are you a couple?

The reporter, her eyes darting between Lucius and Pamela, had already pulled out her notebook, her gossip-loving heart burning brightly.

"What? We..."

Lucius glanced at the girl beside him who had her head down, and for a moment he didn't know what to say.

But the girl, her face flushed, was already whispering, "Yes...we're developing a relationship..."

"Wow! This is insane!"

Having received the expected response, Barbara, holding her notebook, began writing diligently, her face beaming with smiles.

Having heard about Lucius's exploits from her father, Barbara greatly admired this extraordinary police officer.

That's why she wanted to offer her condolences on behalf of Gotham University when the other person was injured.

Unexpectedly, this police officer had this kind of relationship with his classmate.

"If that's the case, why don't you come to the dance held at Gotham University?"

Remembering the recent activities at the academy, Barbara put down her pen and looked at Pamela with a puzzled expression.

"prom?"

Pamela never participates in any school activities. Her most frequent places are classrooms and laboratories, and she has no idea that such campus activities even exist.

"Yes! Gotham University's sports meet will start in three days, followed by various club activities, and a dance to commemorate the university's anniversary..."

Gotham University will be very lively recently, and some well-known alumni may even be invited to the ball.

At times like these, Barbara would have to deal with a ton of invitations, and this time she came to visit Lucius with some other intentions in mind.

But since he already has a partner, why not just have Pamela and Lucius appear together?

"May I ask what happened? Why did you suddenly come to find me at this time?"

Lucius pointed to himself, wondering when he had become so famous that Gotham University's newspaper would come to interview him.

"Huh? You didn't know? The fact that you drove a dangerous vehicle carrying a bomb out of the city all by yourself has already been reported in major newspapers and on television news."

Barbara thoughtfully handed Lucius a newspaper, and even pointed out the location of the news article.

In fact, she knew more than that; Barbara had recently heard a lot of praise for Lucius from a relative.

Barbara couldn't resist visiting such a police officer, who could inspire her usually troubled and weary father to praise him and even alleviate his worries.

"What?"

Staring at the contents of the newspaper, Lucius was momentarily unsure whether those flowery words were actually describing himself.

Driving alone to drive away dangerous individuals?

Damn it, that was clearly Black Widow's doing, how did she pin it on me?

And what's with the "risking their lives to send the bomb out of the city for the safety of the people"? Aren't they always being fooled by the mastermind behind the scenes?

Ah, the absurdity of Gotham journalism.

How could they possibly attribute all the credit to a police officer who was on leave recovering from injury? What if the enraged thugs found out? How could they then leisurely continue their money-making and promotion schemes?

Is it really necessary to maintain the police station's image in this way?

Am I practically becoming the face of the Gotham Police Department now?

With a complex expression, Lucius put away the newspaper, noticing that even Pamela's gaze towards him now held a hint of respect. He covered his forehead, seemingly understanding why Lord Wayne liked to wear a mask when doing good deeds...

Becoming famous in Gotham? I don't want that kind of thing!!!
