"Okay, anyway, thank you for pulling my companion's bag back."

Looking at the young man who seemed somewhat out of place in Gotham with surprise, Clark's tone returned to calm: "I think I was indeed a little too nervous before."

"You're welcome... It's what I should do. And... I completely understand how you feel."

Knowing Clark's character, Lucius naturally understood that the benevolent Superman detested Gotham's damned atmosphere, not any particular resident or the city itself.

Unlike a certain Homelander who lacked love in his childhood and is therefore extremely attached to breast milk and "mature" women, Superman, who possesses abilities but never abuses them, is undoubtedly a very easy person to get along with.

For someone as extraordinary as Gotham, whose "personality" is equally remarkable, to feel disgusted by such a transcendent being, Gotham's darkness is indeed too profound.

The disaster here cannot be solved by saving a crashed plane or carrying a damaged building.

The calamity of Gotham lurks deep within the hearts of every citizen, hidden in the dark side of each and every one of them.

The mountains that exist in the world cannot withstand even a single glance from Clark, but the filth in people's hearts cannot be cleared even by ten Supermen.

"You seem a bit different from those other officers?"

Compared to the grim-faced, crime-prone veteran officer, Clark felt that this young officer seemed more responsible.

According to Ms. Pamela, the young police officer handled the last gas attack alone.

"You have excellent eyesight. I'm new here, so I'll be bolder in my actions."

Standing next to Lucius, catching a glimpse of Pamela seemingly still chattering away with Louise, Lucius coughed lightly and tugged at the arm of the naive young woman.

"Um?"

The young woman, who was passionately recounting the heroic deeds of Gotham police officers, was gestured to by Lucius and gave Lois an awkward smile: "I think that's all I can say..."

"Are you two a couple? Or did you get together after the last incident?"

As a woman, Louise keenly noticed Pamela's feelings for the police officer and picked up her notebook again with interest, seemingly wanting to report some gossip outside of her work duties.

"No comment." Lucius mimicked his colleague's indifferent expression, supporting Pamela's injured leg, and refused to say anything more.

"Okay, thank you for your cooperation. I think I've gathered enough information."

With her mission accomplished and the bag incident proving to be a false alarm, Louise smiled and stopped bothering the young couple.

However, before Lucius escorted Pamela home, Clark slowly approached the police officer: "Be careful, there seems to be someone watching you in this city."

"What?!"

The serious reminder from Superman caused Lucius's expression to change instantly.

Who?

He appears to have left, but is actually still secretly monitoring his colleague, Brock.

Or perhaps it's a penguin who doesn't trust himself?

Or is it the Batman who is always on guard against everything?

Even... the Scarecrow, and other dangerous elements in this city of sin...

Hearing this news before parting, Lucius wanted to ask more questions, but found that Clark and Louise had already gotten back into the car...

Clark, whose ostensible identity is just an ordinary reporter, obviously wouldn't tell Lucius any more information before his true identity was revealed.

To offer such a reminder before parting ways was already a risky response to Lucius's previous act of kindness.

But that simple sentence completely changed Lucius's plan to take Pamela home...

"Ha... I thought I could finally be myself again."

Gritting his teeth and muttering something under his breath, Lucius had no choice but to change his plans because of the guy in the shadows.

Whoever that guy is, Lucius has to be fully prepared.

"What?"

Unable to hear the conversation between the two men clearly, Pamela lifted her injured right foot and, with Lucius's help, hopped towards the parking lot.

Pamela was able to walk with the help of crutches after her wounds were treated and she took painkillers at the hospital today.

"Nothing much... Are you free today? Want to go shopping together?"

Back in the driver's seat of his police car, Lucius glanced at the blushing girl in the rearview mirror...

......

"Clark? What were you talking about just now?"

As Louise organized her notes, she turned to look at her colleague in the driver's seat, curious about his conversation with Lucius before he left.

Clark, gripping the steering wheel, didn't turn around, but calmly replied, "It's nothing, just a friendly reminder. It seems the captured robber is holding a grudge... I hope he'll be careful."

"Oh, I see. Gotham City is really dangerous..." Louise said with lingering fear, recalling the dangerous moment when she was held at gunpoint earlier that day.

"Okay, so let's go straight back."

Although they hadn't met, at that moment, Clark suddenly felt a greater sense of respect for the Dark Knight.

Batman...

I wish I could meet the guy who defends justice in the quagmire of Gotham City, a city rife with crime.

......

In the movie theater, Lucius and Pamela sat side by side in the seats closest to the entrance.

Despite having time to himself, Lucius didn't focus much on his female companion. Instead, he frequently turned around to observe the situation in the entire theater.

From the moment he drove Pamela to the vicinity of the mall until now, as he walked around inside, Lucius had never noticed the "stalker" that Clark had warned him about.

Even after entering a semi-enclosed space like a movie theater, he couldn't see any suspicious people at the only entrance and exit.

But ever since Superman warned him, that vague sense of danger has been lingering in his mind, making Lucius uneasy.

"That guy should still be nearby... but where did he go?"

Lucius remembered everyone who entered, but there was absolutely no one he recognized, nor was there anyone who followed them around. It seemed that everyone's appearance here was a chance encounter, without any planning whatsoever.

But Lucius could always sense a gaze subtly watching him from behind...

There are only two explanations for this situation.

As the theater lights dimmed, just before the movie was about to start, Lucius leaned back in his seat, deep in thought.

One possibility is that the guys monitoring him are members of a gang, who separately follow him to prevent him from noticing that someone has been tailing him for an extended period.

As for the other possibility...

Is that guy able to avoid my sight in a special way?

"Um?"

Feeling the girl beside him trembling slightly, Lucius looked at Pamela in the darkness.

The woman with the ankle injury seemed to have become somewhat quiet since entering the theater, especially after the scene went dark.

Seeing the other person's increasingly pale face, Lucius felt a chill run down his spine!

She is...

fear?
