American comic book police officer survival manual
Chapter 1: Being a police officer in Gotham City is probably second only to Raccoon City.
In the clean and bright sheriff's office, a handsome man with black hair, dressed in a brand-new and dignified police uniform, sat upright opposite the desk.
Standing in front of the newly recruited officer was the middle-aged officer with black-rimmed glasses and a small mustache, who was Gotham City's Sheriff, James Gordon.
"Welcome to the team, Lucius. Although you're only being transferred from the Manhattan Police Department to Gotham, we'll be colleagues for quite some time to come, working together to protect the order of this city."
Having already reviewed the young man's file and knowing his character and personality, the usually serious sheriff couldn't help but smile and reached out to shake his hand.
Lucius, a top student at the police academy, is an upright and enthusiastic man who, like his sheriff, harbors a deep hatred for evil.
In Gotham City, a city heavily influenced by gangs and rife with crime and corruption, such officers are in extremely short supply.
Compared to the officers within the police department, who might have already been corrupted by various gangs or criminals with hefty rewards, this officer transferred from another city is more likely to become his most valuable assistant.
"Hello, Sheriff Gordon, I've heard so much about you..."
Responding to the sheriff's warm handshake, Lucius smiled obsequiously, but his expression seemed to carry a hint of bitterness.
"As you may already know, the situation in Gotham City is extremely dire..." Just as he was about to say something more, Commissioner Gordon was interrupted by the ringing phone on the desk. He could only nod apologetically to Lucius and pick up the receiver.
"The situation in Gotham is dire..."
Muttering to himself, Lucius's expression was extremely strange.
Yes, the situation in Gotham City, how could it not be terrible?
Just last night, poor Lucius, on his very first day in the neighborhood, got into a fight with a gang on the street...
The naive young police officer, being an outsider, knew nothing about the local situation. On a whim, he rushed in with a heart full of enthusiasm to mediate the fight.
As for the result...
The fact that a time traveler is here instead of Lucius himself already explains the problem.
"If I'd known I'd be a police officer in this complicated world of American comics, I would have read more comics..."
The young man sitting in front of Sheriff Gordon sighed inwardly, touched the police officer's handbook on his chest, and his sad mood improved a little.
As an ordinary male college student who had nothing to his name, no fighting ability, and died and transmigrated simply from staying up all night playing games with his buddies, he was able to return to the police station as Lucius and continue his work not because of courage, but because of the police officer's handbook that suddenly appeared beside him—
Name: Lucius Aurelius Maximus (Original Name: Luther)
Occupation: Regular Police Officer (Lv.1)
Ability: Shooting Specialization (Unlock progress 10%...11%)
Watching the handwriting about his abilities subtly change in the manual, and feeling the increased shooting experience in his mind, Lucius's confidence in facing the various troubles of American comics finally grew slightly.
As long as he remains a member of the police system and survives, his abilities seem to keep getting stronger!
According to the rules on the cover of the police officer's handbook, it seems that the growth rate is also related to the job level. If one can be promoted to become a senior police officer or even a detective, the speed of becoming stronger will be further accelerated!
"It's okay. As long as I avoid those dangerous characters in American comics and reduce the chances of getting involved in various crimes... I should be able to survive."
To console himself, Lucius carefully put the police handbook back into his pocket.
After finishing the call, Gordon, his expression turning somewhat serious, put down the receiver and said to the waiting officers:
"Sorry, I've received some more updates that need to be dealt with immediately. I'll have to trouble you to go ahead and attend to your own matters..."
"Yes, Chief Gordon."
Having already received his patrol route as a regular police officer, Lucius, who had no intention of getting involved in any more trouble, quickly got up and left the office.
As the officers left, only Gordon remained silent in the empty sheriff's office, until a deep, resonant voice rang out—
"He doesn't seem like a suitable partner."
As a lithe black figure descended through the window, a slight smile appeared on Sheriff Gordon's face.
"Batman... In this matter, I probably know that young man better than you do."
"Really? I found out through my connections that guy used to be a playboy in Manhattan..."
If he truly had a sense of justice, how could he remain silent about the troubles Chief Gordon was facing, and instead turn away as if trying to avoid them?
"Young people always need time to grow... Gotham might be too difficult for him, let's give him some time to adjust."
The knight lurking in the shadows failed to change Commissioner Gordon's mind. He slowly rose from his desk, muttering in bewilderment, "But why do you insist on having him patrol the Gotham University campus?"
"There seems to be some contraband being transported over there recently. It would be best to have the newcomer go and check it out. It would also be a good test to see if he's truly on our side."
Bruce Wayne, completely encased in a bat-like bodysuit, looked at the police officers hurrying past the window, his eyes revealing scrutiny.
With Batman and Commissioner Gordon working together, Gotham City has now broken its record for the lowest crime rate in recent years.
Although Gotham is in a relatively stable state now, various dangerous elements lurking in the shadows could unleash a bloodbath at any time.
"Gotham's quagmire has corrupted and degraded too many people; hopefully, he won't be one of them..."
......
Gotham University.
In Gotham City, a city known for its friendly and honest people, there are several universities of their own. What's even more commendable is that these universities have impressive rankings in America and are by no means some low-quality institutions that just anyone can graduate from.
"Instead of going to Arkham Asylum, I'm patrolling a relatively peaceful university campus... I shouldn't run into any problems with this kind of work."
Dressed in his police uniform, Lucius, who is currently without a partner, stands at the main entrance of Gotham University, gazing up at the magnificent academy where Batman once studied.
"Batman... Commissioner Gordon, and maybe a Mayor Two-Face? These are the only ones I recognize. I don't even know the Joker's real name, let alone his identity..."
To survive in Gotham City, one must keep their distance from these "dangerous elements".
Lucius, however, knew absolutely nothing about the villains, and even his meager knowledge of them came from hellish jokes...
As for the original owner of this body, he didn't retain any memories after his death. Even his identity as a police officer was only known through his predecessor's diary. Without any further information, the current 'Lucius' doesn't even have much cash left to live on.
"Judging by Sheriff Gordon's age, he probably won't have the chance to start his business by picking up pearls in the alleys anymore..."
A police officer's salary alone might not be enough to support themselves; they might have to take on side jobs just to barely survive in Gotham...
"It seems like surviving will be even harder than I expected..."
Putting aside the jumbled thoughts in his mind, the young police officer began patrolling the unfamiliar campus, continuing his mission as a law enforcement officer.
Hearing a few crisp sounds of arguing beside him, Lucius peeked out from behind a large flowerbed and saw two girls, one tall and one short...
A delicate, doll-like little girl with red eyes is clasping her hands together in front of her, looking pleading.
The beautiful female college student with long, bright pink hair was dressed like a bookworm, with large round-framed glasses that mostly obscured her fair face. She was speaking to the girl in a tense and slightly loud tone, and seemed a little angry.
"Hello... what happened?"
The argument grew louder, forcing Lucius to slowly approach the two seemingly harmless women.
The little girl's delicate leather boots were covered in mud, and her limbs seemed to be covered in dark dust.
The young and beautiful student appeared to be wearing a school uniform, a shirt and a short skirt, the plain colors of which made her look particularly old-fashioned.
The female college student wearing glasses turned her head slightly, looking at the newcomer with a wary and cautious gaze.
"Are you... a police officer?"
With a strong sense of skepticism and resistance, she frowned and reluctantly introduced herself: "Hello, I'm Pamela Eisley, a student in the Department of Botany at Gotham University."
