Chapter 793 Voldemort's Failed Curse of Unwavering Loyalty
When Harry walked up the stone steps and entered the passage behind the portrait, the sounds in the room seemed to disappear all at once.
The passageway was much cleaner than I had imagined; there were no cobwebs or any unpleasant smells, and the dirt floor was worn smooth by footsteps. Brass lamps hung on both sides, casting their shadows on the walls, swaying gently.
"It's so good to see you again, Siren," Harry said happily, his voice echoing through the long corridor.
“Me too, Harry,” Cyril yawned. “But how did you manage to get to Hogsmeade? We figured the Death Eaters should have surrounded the area by now.”
"Thanks to Hermione, she—"
"It's because my Apparition failed, and I was accidentally sent here," Hermione interrupted Harry, glancing at him. "This isn't my doing. If you asked me to do it again, I definitely couldn't."
A failed Apparition?
After hearing Hermione's explanation, Celeste couldn't help but click his tongue.
A failed Apparition attempt led him to the wrong landing spot, but it landed him in the perfect place, undetected by the Death Eaters who controlled the Ministry of Magic—he was incredibly lucky.
"Wait, you just said you've found Nagini?"
"That's right, it's in Riddle Hall in Little Hangleton," Harry said. "You've seen Dumbledore's Pensieve, so you know where it is."
""
"Ah, I know." Xilun nodded.
He was a little surprised, but upon reflection, it made perfect sense.
Almost everyone in the wizarding world who knew that Voldemort was Tom Riddle was dead, and other wizards wouldn't even bother with a Muggle house that had been abandoned for a long time.
However, Sirius did not believe that Voldemort had not set up a trap.
To be honest, before meeting Harry this time, Siren had never thought that Nagini was hidden in the former Riddle House, or that he had completely forgotten that such a place existed.
Normally this would be impossible, especially since he had just recently seen memories related to Riddle House from Dumbledore.
Siren thought Voldemort must have used the Faithful Charm to completely hide Riddle Hall, which would explain why Harry didn't encounter any dark magic.
Because in Voldemort's view, it was impossible for anyone to find that place—just as he had been unable to find James and Lily no matter what.
Since no one can find it, there's no need to set a trap.
If Voldemort had just randomly chosen any Death Eater as his confidant, they might never have found Nagini.
Fortunately, he couldn't do that. The suspicious Voldemort wouldn't entrust such an important task to the Death Eaters, so the secret keeper could only be himself.
Since Harry was one of Voldemort's Horcruxes, the Faithful Charm was rendered ineffective from the start.
"It seems that sending you to find Nagini was the right decision," Siren said softly.
"It's a pity I couldn't kill the snake," Harry said, sounding a little disappointed.
"Before Hermione took me away, I tried to cast a Divine Shield Spell on the snake."
"Oh, I remember now." Ron suddenly clapped his hands. "I was wondering about that earlier, was the snake dead?"
"No." Harry shook his head. "Although I didn't see the result, I sensed Mystic's feelings—he was angry, but that was all. I think his emotions would have been even more intense if his last Horcrux had really been destroyed."
"Uh—you're right." Ron and Hermione exchanged a glance and sighed in disappointment.
On the other side, Xiren remained calm.
Horcruxes aren't so easy to destroy. Fiery Curse can do it, but Divine Blade is a bit lacking.
The group continued walking. After Harry and the others finished recounting what had happened outside, Siron also started talking about what had been going on at the school recently.
"Snape became the headmaster, and Carol, a Death Eater, became the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, responsible for monitoring the professors and students."
"But she prefers teaching students how to use dark magic. Any disobedient student who tries to rebel against the Death Eaters will be remembered by her and used as a target for practicing dark magic in the next class. Yesterday she even wanted someone to practice the Cruciatus Curse on a Gryffindor who was in solitary confinement."
"What?"
Harry, Ron, and Hermione screamed in unison, their cries echoing throughout the passageway.
"How could that be—oh, I mean, Professor McGonagall couldn't possibly have agreed to her doing that," Hermione stammered.
"Yes, Professor McGonagall certainly disagrees," Celen shrugged. "But her decision is becoming less and less important. Don't forget, the current headmaster isn't on our side."
"I can't believe it," Ron muttered to himself, unaware that the passage had just begun to slope uphill.
"But don't worry," Siron said with a smile, "Professor McGonagall has recently found another way to deal with Carlo. Although the process may be a little rough, it's very effective."
"What method?"
"Don't ask anymore, I don't want to ruin Professor McGonagall's image in your hearts—ah, we've arrived."
"7
The uphill slope in the passage became increasingly steep. After turning a corner, they found themselves at the end of the passage.
Another short stone staircase leads to a door, exactly the same as the one behind the portrait of Ariana.
Sirens pushed open the door and walked out, with Harry and the others quickly following.
They had expected to appear in the corridor or some hidden corner, just like when they came out of the other secret passages, but they didn't.
This is a very luxurious room, with a large, soft bed, light gold curtains, and a bedroom that is larger than most people's living room, and there is even a glittering golden fountain.
"Where...where am I?!" Harry took off his glasses and wiped them. "Is there even a place like this at Hogwarts?"
“Of course, after all, this is the House of Requirement,” Celen said. “And it’s not just me, you’ll all be living here from now on.”
As soon as she finished speaking, three more equally large beds appeared in the room. Considering that Hermione was a girl, several walls were raised around her bed, and in the blink of an eye, a new room was created.
Ron's eyes lit up.
Honestly, that bed was almost bigger than his room in the Burl.
Harry and Hermione weren't as overtly happy as Ron, but they were both quite pleased.
When they were searching for Nagini, they mostly lived in tents, but the accommodations were not secure. Someone had to keep watch at night, and it was common for them to wake up in the middle of the night and run away.
They dream of having a comfortable place where they can sleep soundly until they naturally wake up.
But now is not the time.
They also needed to find Professor McGonagall before Carol and Snape woke up and tell her about their discovery at Riddle Hall.
