From Witcher to Lord of the Empire

Chapter 34 The circular fate made them meet

two days ago.

Ciri fled in a hurry in the forest. She was wearing a jacket with a red hood, which was already dirty and messy, and her beautiful little boots were also full of filth, with weeds and leaves of different lengths sticking to her body, but she kept walking.

She didn't know where she should go, but she knew she must not go to Verdon, anywhere but there was fine. Let her do whatever she wants as long as she doesn't marry the Verdon people.

The little girl has always been curious about the wild and exciting adventures. She has learned a lot about the forest from Mosthas, and the druid is also willing to help Ciri understand nature.

This allowed Ciri to master complex knowledge of life in the wild far beyond what she should have learned about court etiquette, noble heraldry and so on.

But no one ever taught her that no matter how much she knew about forests, she shouldn't go into a jungle she didn't understand alone, especially when the jungle was called Brokilon.

Five steps away from Ciri, something was slowly squirming forward, overturning the weeds. It was dark brown in color and nearly as long as Ciri was tall.

Luckily, Ciri felt that she had tripped over something, which made her narrowly escaped the pounce of the beast.

Her Royal Highness, who was lying on the ground, only felt a gust of wind passing over her head, and she looked over in a panic, only to see a long strip of things standing there.

She thought it was a snake at first, but then noticed its barbed yellow legs and its long, knobby torso. That's not a snake, but it's much more dangerous than a snake.

Ciri screamed loudly, turned around and ran, the giant centipede shook its long tentacles, felt the smell and temperature, and raised itself up in the grass.

At the critical juncture of the situation, Ciri suddenly heard a calm and magnetic voice shouting loudly.

"do not move!"

Before the words were finished, a tall man rushed out from the bushes. He stomped on the ground vigorously, as if he wanted to use his voice to attract the attention of the giant centipede.

But the giant centipede didn't respond at all, its tentacles were busy looking for the position of the small prey, which made hunting easier.

The worm started to move, its body curled into an S shape, and it rushed forward. Its bright yellow legs shone in the grass, swinging rhythmically like rows of oars.

Ciri ran faster. But in the forest, even adults can't outrun these hunters, let alone a little girl like her,

Seeing this, the strange man hurriedly stepped forward, drew his sword out of its sheath from behind, and the silver blade gleamed.

Before confronting the enemy, saving the child is more important to him. With the momentum of the forward charge, the man rammed Ciri, who was about to be overtaken by the centipede, into a blackberry bush.

Ciri was temporarily safe, while the man became the target of the giant centipede.

The giant centipede moved on the grass, first bent down, then turned to the strange man, raised its knotted front body, and opened and closed its fangs dripping with venom.

The man deftly leaped over the monster's knotted body, turned, intending to drive his sword into the fragile joint of the carapace. But the monster moved too fast, and his sword grazed the chitin armor, but couldn't penetrate, as if weakened by a thick layer of moss.

Missing a hit, the man tried to pull away, but couldn't move fast enough. The giant worm wrapped its belly around his legs with such incredible force that it knocked him off balance.

The giant centipede curled up, trying to hold him with its claws. In the process, it scrapes hard against a tree, wrapping its body around it. At this moment, an arrow whizzed past the man's head, piercing the giant insect's carapace with a loud noise, and nailing it to the tree trunk.

The giant centipede twisted its body and broke the arrow shaft, but was shot by two arrows one after another.

The man breaks free from its restraints and rolls aside.

At the place where the man just came out, a honey-haired green-skinned woman knelt on one knee, firing arrows one after another at an astonishing speed, each one hitting the target. Every time the giant centipede breaks the arrow shaft, the next arrows will nail it to the tree again.

The giant worm's flat mouth was shining with a dark brown luster. It opened and closed, and its jaws bit the place pierced by sharp arrows, foolishly thinking that it would hurt its enemy by doing so.

The man jumped aside and made a weird gesture with his left hand. Seeing a flash of light, the centipede, which was struggling fiercely, suddenly became quiet in confusion.

Immediately afterwards, with a strong swing of the sword in his hand, he used the tree trunk as the monster's guillotine, ending the hasty battle.

The green-skinned woman stepped forward and revealed a figure. This woman's dress is very "forest", I saw that she tied her honey-colored hair with a piece of rush grass, and the clothes she was wearing were only made of bark and leaves, and the clothes were close to the skin to outline graceful and powerful lines.

"This is the giant Yoggon centipede." She stomped on the still wriggling corpse. "It snapped my arrow."

"Thank you, Brian." The man thanked, "You saved my life and that little tree spirit's life."

"Don't be so phony, Gwinblad. You can easily handle it without me, and you guys are the best at that kind of thing."

Brian didn't accept the man's thanks, and carefully parted the blackberry bush without looking back, her arms reaching deep into the thorny twigs.

"That's what I thought," she exclaimed, lifting a dazed Ciri from among the trees. "Look, Gwinblad, she's not a dryad!"

The man looked at the little girl in Brian's arms. She had beautiful mouse-gray hair and big clear green eyes. She looked no older than ten years old.

The problem was that it wasn't a dryad, or an elf, or a goblin, or a pixie, or a halfling, just a normal little human girl. And here is Brokilon: The Land of the Most Intolerant of Humanity...

"Don't be afraid, child." The man knelt down and asked softly, "What's your name?"

"I'm not scared, I'm cold." Shirley shivered. "My name is Sheila."

The man turns around. Brian was checking her bow when she met his gaze.

"Listen to me, Brian..."

"What?"

"Is it possible that she... escaped from... from you... from Doon Canal?"

"What?"

"Don't take me for a fool." The man said angrily, "I know you will capture young humans. Did you fall from the sky to Brokilon yourself? I'm asking you, is it possible..."

"Impossible," interrupted the Dryad. "I've never seen her."

"Is that the poor kid from Do Not Enter the Forest?" the man murmured.

The dryad approached Ciri slowly: "But now, she needs to go with me to Doon Canal. We cannot tolerate humans entering this forest. We found her in Brokleon, she is ours, she It will become us too."

Men don't seem to tolerate this happening.

He shielded Ciri behind him, and warned in a low voice: "Be careful, Brian. You shot an arrow in the dark yesterday and shot a boy through the eye. But I am not him. I know how to protect myself. The child was injured. I wasn't there when I was there, and now I won't let you take another child."
