Hearing the noise and the sound of water behind him, the person in front turned around and then realized that his companion was gone.

He could only slowly walk towards the river, thinking to himself that this was probably a joke his companion was playing on him.

Just as he reached the riverbank and peered into the water, a hand suddenly emerged from the water, only to be immediately pulled back in by something.

"My God!" The man was terrified and pulled out his pistol, aiming it at the water.

But he quickly realized what was happening, turned around, and ran away.

However, he hadn't run more than a few steps when he heard a loud splashing sound behind him. Before he could even turn around, a thick tail pierced through his chest.

"No..." He looked down at his chest blankly, then his body was suddenly pulled down and dragged into the water.

As he was being dragged, his strong will to survive drove him to pull the trigger.

In the quiet night, the gunshot carried far and wide, alerting Shen Ye and his companions who were about to take a walk along the river.
