Chapter 193 The Raven's Guidance
Blue Owl stared blankly at the dark figure standing in the middle of the testing room, lost in thought.
"Wow, even Commander Che is acting like a riddle now? Turns out, the so-called superpowered mentor he found for me is my dad."
He shook his head and continued thinking, "Oh no, it must be my dad who told him to keep it from me. Our terrifying crow people just love creating this kind of unpredictable atmosphere."
Seeing that the crow did not speak but just stared at him silently, the blue owl suddenly got excited and thought to himself, if you don't speak, I won't speak either. Let's see who has a better image to maintain, huh?
The atmosphere in the silver-white testing room was incredibly awkward. The similar beaks on their helmets faced each other, like two soldiers fiddling with their bayonets at each other from a distance.
For a second or two, the blue owl even wondered if he was there to compete with it to see whose beak was more dazzling. He shouted "Three, two, one," and then they flew together to the tree next to the Superhero Building, pecking at the branches with their beaks to see who caught more insects.
The blue owl frowned and tried waving its paw. The raven remained unresponsive, standing there like a statue.
Left with no other option, Blue Owl tried to break the silence. He said, "Uh... hello, Mr. Raven, what brings you here?"
The crow paused for two or three seconds before getting straight to the point, without beating around the bush.
“Show us your special abilities…”
He spoke in a calm tone, yet it was like the hoarse, penetrating cry of a giant crow.
Hearing this, the blue owl was completely bewildered and asked impatiently, "How do you mean to demonstrate it?"
As he spoke, he shrugged and said, "Also, I actually have three superpowers. So I'm curious, which one are you talking about?"
“The one you discussed with the commander,” said Blue Raven.
"Flame Fist, Switch Positions, or Rock-Paper-Scissors?" Blue Owl said. "I've mentioned all three of these abilities to him before, and I'm really curious which one you're referring to?"
Instead of answering the question, the crow said, "First, use your original strength to simply rotate your arm once."
As he spoke, he conjured several crows outside his body. The crows slowly flapped their wings and approached the blue owl, then narrowed their scarlet eyes, staring motionlessly at the blue owl's movements from all directions.
To be honest, being watched by so many crow-shaped surveillance cameras is not a pleasant experience. The blue owl felt a chill run down its spine as it felt the emotionless gazes of those creatures.
"What does this mean? Could you please explain why you've come?"
The blue owl crossed its arms over its shoulders, tilted its head slightly, and the beak on its mask tilted accordingly.
"Just do as I say," the crow said coldly.
"Okay, okay, don't worry."
Upon hearing this, Blue Owl irritably twirled his arm as he spoke, then asked, "That's it?"
“Unleash your powers,” the raven continued.
Blue Owl held up one finger and said, "You know, one day I fell into the river while fighting a supervillain. The river god pulled me out, and then asked me, 'Did you fall in with this position-swapping ability, or this fiery little fist skill, or did you actually fall in with an ability that lets you do calisthenics with your arms?' Guess how I answered?"
The crow remained silent and did not respond.
"Okay, I know you think I'm being awkward, but I just feel like, can our atmosphere be a little less... stiff?"
Blue Owl shrugged and spoke slowly.
The crow remained silent, watching him clown around like a statue.
Blue Owl rubbed his forehead, shook his head, and sighed. He felt like he was talking to an artificial intelligence, as if asking Blue Raven to say another word would kill him.
In fact, he knew which of his superpowers Qingya wanted to see. He and Che Zhengchen had discussed the "arm-spinning rock-paper-scissors" superpower in detail, and Qingya had most likely heard about it from Commander Che.
"Since you insist on doing so, then watch closely, this is the fifth gymnastics exercise for primary and secondary school students in the 21st century."
As he spoke, he unleashed his B-level skill, "Rotating Arm Rock-Paper-Scissors," his right arm slowly spinning in mid-air, the surrounding air subtly undulating.
The blue raven stood there in the distance, silently observing him through the eyes of the crows.
“Let me reiterate, I can’t control this skill. Once I spin around, we’ll definitely have to play rock-paper-scissors.” Blue Owl said while spinning his arm. “The outcome of the rock-paper-scissors game isn’t something I can decide either. Each outcome corresponds to a different ability… So if I accidentally blow your head off, the Superhero Association shouldn’t blame me for it, since I was just following your instructions.”
Finally, the blue owl's slowly rotating right arm began to produce a heavy whistling sound, and the air pressure in the entire testing chamber seemed to change with the rotation of its arm.
The raven tilted its head and squinted at him. Even several meters away, his cloak was still being whipped about by the gale whipped up by the blue owl's right arm.
He asked, "What's the maximum number of spins you can do?"
“Twenty rotations. That’s the limit my arm can take. Any more and my hand might break.” Blue Owl paused for a moment. “By the way, I don’t know if Commander Che has told you that the more rotations I accumulate, the more power I build up in my arm, and the more powerful the rock-paper-scissors ability I release afterwards.”
This guy talks incredibly fast, as if he's afraid the twenty laps will be over before he's even finished speaking. That would be so boring.
Upon hearing this, the crow replied without hesitation, "Then let's spin around twenty times."
"Uh...are you sure?"
“I have a suggestion for you…” Blue Crow’s voice was gloomy and low.
"What advice?"
"You can talk less."
"Talking more can disrupt the enemy's thinking, which is better than just throwing punches in silence."
“Then you didn’t do a good enough job,” Qingya said coldly. “Those strong people who are good at using language to attack people’s hearts can always hit the enemy’s weak spot with a single stroke; unlike you, your words have no focus and are all random thoughts, which only make people feel noisy.”
"Isn't being noisy enough? Isn't this disrupting the enemy's thinking?"
The blue owl, however, disagreed.
The raven stopped mentioning the question and instead asked, "Speed... does it have to be one revolution per second?"
“That’s right.” Blue Owl nodded. “Otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to find the feel for it. That’s probably the limitation of this ability.”
At this point, he slightly curled the corners of his mouth, "There are only five laps left. Are you sure you don't want to avoid them? Don't underestimate my abilities just because I'm a newbie."
"Unleash your powers... aimed at me."
Blue Raven spoke calmly, and even though he could feel the power accumulating in Blue Owl's arm had expanded to an exaggerated level, his tone remained completely unwavering.
"Okay... well, you said it yourself."
The moment the words left his mouth, Blue Owl's arm had spun exactly twenty times.
A system notification sounded in my ear.
[Total arm rotations: 20. Arm rotations have reached their limit. The current power accumulated in the arms is 10 times the original power.]
[The second effect of the B-level skill "Rotating Arm Rock-Paper-Scissors Technique" has been triggered: By releasing all the power accumulated through spinning, a rock-paper-scissors game with an unknown outcome is played forward. Three different skill effects will appear depending on the outcome of the game.]
The blue owl swung its right arm forward.
Immediately afterwards, accompanied by a gust of wind, the five fingers of the right hand, clenched into a fist, swung forward.
He thought, since the crow and I are keeping such a distance, even if the result of rock-paper-scissors is "rock" or "scissors", it shouldn't be enough to keep him from touching me.
The only possibility of encountering the distant blue crow is "cloth".
result……
They actually brought the cloth.
The Blue Owl's right hand spread outwards uncontrollably, its palm facing the Blue Crow's body.
It's on the verge of exploding; the situation is already irreversible.
The result of this rock-paper-scissors game is "Paper." The skill effect is as follows: When you choose Paper, you unleash a beam of energy forward (the power and maximum range of the energy beam depend on the strength of your arm; the greater your arm strength, the stronger the energy beam and the farther it travels forward).
In an instant, the blue owl's palm, clad in a metal glove, was enveloped in a dazzling light, almost like the aurora borealis. Beneath him, the silver-white metal floor distorted and blurred under the force field, resembling an artificially created mirage.
Only he himself knew that this was a skill effect, like the laughter of the trickster puppet as it left the stage, but to Qingya, this scene must have been quite unbelievable.
The next moment, the golden light on his five fingers converged at a point in his palm, and a beam of light burst forth from his raised palm, with a diameter of one meter.
The beam of light that came towards them was as graceful as a dragon, illuminating the uniform silver-white metal like a torch. The roaring beam of light was reflected in the eyes of the blue raven.
Yet there was no trace of panic in his eyes, like a dark reef standing firm amidst a raging tide.
Bang——! ! !
A deafening roar echoed through the metallic space. In a flash, the crow's body was engulfed by the pillar of light formed by the rock-paper-scissors game, instantly turning to ashes.
But the beam of light showed no sign of stopping. Roaring forward like an unstoppable beast, it crashed into the metal walls of the testing chamber with a deafening roar, violently tearing open a gap in the wall.
Mist grass?
Where is Dad? Did I really kill him?
The blue owl knelt, its right arm dangling on the floor from exhaustion, a hint of bewilderment flashing in its eyes.
He watched in stunned silence as the blue crow was engulfed by the energy beam he had shot out. He looked around but couldn't see the blue crow, and a cold sweat broke out on his forehead.
After a while, the aftershocks of that energy beam completely died out, and deathly silence and black smoke enveloped the metal space.
"Uh... Comrade Blue Crow, are you okay?"
In an environment so quiet you could hear a needle falling, the blue owl slightly opened its beak and tentatively spoke towards the swirling black smoke.
"For a new superhuman..."
The next moment, accompanied by a faint voice, the blue raven suddenly appeared beside him, gazing at the thick smoke together, and added, "Not bad."
Are you sure it's just 'not bad'?
