"Your appearance has changed, but your smell hasn't." Sirius grinned, revealing yellowed teeth. "I thought you'd failed, until I saw your wanted poster not long ago. I didn't expect you to have infiltrated the Ministry of Magic. What, are you here to arrest me?"
Both were prisoners who escaped from Azkaban, but the two looked completely different.
"Smell? I didn't notice that." Cyrus was pleased that Sirius had pointed out the flaw in his transformation. "But you, haven't you been having a rather miserable time?"
“Terrible? Anywhere is better than Azkaban.” Sirius laughed self-deprecatingly. “I just hate that the rat is hiding too well. I’m afraid he’ll decide to hide as soon as he hears about me, and I won’t be able to enter the school in a big way.”
He's been out of prison for over two months now, but he still hasn't seen Peter Pettigrew. However, he recently discovered a clever fellow and plans to recruit him as an ally.
Sirius Black only has one path: the Shrieking Shack. The other secret passages lead directly to the castle, and going that way would be too dangerous. It's a pity that Filch confiscated their map when they went to school, otherwise it would have been much easier.
"Didn't you go to see Harry?" Cyrus wasn't very interested in Pettigrew anyway, since the punishment would eventually fall on that despicable traitor.
“I…saw it from afar.” Sirius’s speech slowed, and he looked very sad. “He looks just like James.”
"Really? Then you haven't thought about going to acknowledge him as your father?" Cyrus asked.
"I……"
“You can give him a home, Sirius, just like the Potters took you in after you left the Black family,” Cyrus suggested. “Harry needs a home.”
Harry can be reckless at times, but that doesn't stop him from being a good kid. Cyrus considers Harry and the others his friends, so he hopes to make up for some of the regrets.
But Sirius hesitated.
He escaped the prison on that isolated island, but he couldn't escape the torment in his heart.
"What right do I have? If it weren't for me, he would have a happy family..."
"So now you have a chance to make amends. I think you should go to Privet Road and see him. He didn't have a good time with the Dursleys. James Potter didn't make any good impression on them."
“But…he…” Sirius opened his mouth, looking incredibly timid, “Do you think he will forgive me?”
“Or let’s ask a different question: do you really think he’ll blame you?” Cyrus countered.
“Why not? He should have done it. If I hadn’t suggested it, maybe they would have…” Sirius’s face was full of pain.
“Then you underestimate Harry. He’s a good kid. He’ll find out who the real traitors are, who killed his parents,” Cyrus said calmly. “And he’ll be glad he has a real family member, not just a blood relative, but someone who will love him.”
Sirius fell silent.
At that moment, Ms. Rosmerta knocked on the door.
Cyrus transformed back into Dexter and opened the door a crack.
"Rib chops, and butterbeer."
Thank you, ma'am.
Cyrus took the food and closed the door again. He placed the ribs on the table and started drinking his butterbeer. This wizard's drink was a little sweet and mushy, but not cloying, and tasted quite good.
"Let's eat something first. I bet you've been rummaging through the trash for about two months now, haven't you?"
“It’s not always about rummaging through the trash,” Sirius replied, silently sitting down to eat. Moving on from that topic seemed to have eased him considerably. He wasn’t afraid of the Death Eaters or even the Dark Lord, but facing James Potter’s children filled him with dread.
But in reality, this is just a cowardly escape.
Sirius took a big gulp of butterbeer, swallowed the rib meat stuck in his throat, and then, as if suddenly remembering something, looked at Cyrus seriously.
"By the way, you have to tell me, what's the deal with the successor of the secret chamber?"
Chapter 113 Darkness Envelops the Albanian Jungle
What's the story behind the successor of the secret chamber?
Sirius questioned.
"You knew already?"
"It's hard not to know that every Auror I've met since your escape, who's been searching for you and me, has been talking about this. You're the heir to Slytherin, controlling a giant basilisk that's wreaking havoc at Hogwarts and attacking several Muggle wizards!"
Because he got along well with Cyrus, Sirius sometimes forgot that Cyrus was a prisoner in Azkaban.
Because of the unbreakable oath, he couldn't inquire about Cyrus's deeds before, but now that the contract has ended, he can naturally ask about Cyrus's experiences.
"I don't think you're that kind of person. Could it be that you, like me, have been wronged?"
“No, I am the mastermind behind the locked-room attack, but only this one. The attack fifty years ago had nothing to do with me,” Cyrus explained. “What’s wrong? Regretting helping me escape from Azkaban?”
The events in the Chamber of Secrets are actually very complex, especially for the Ministry of Magic, as it is essentially the resurrection of Riddle, a ghost who disappeared fifty years ago. Although the Ministry of Magic put Cyrus on trial, it concealed the "truth" of the attack fifty years ago from the public.
Therefore, many wizards only have a superficial understanding of this matter, knowing only that "Tom Riddle" released the Basilisk and then became an insignificant part of Dumbledore's many glorious achievements.
"Commanding a serpent king more powerful than a phoenix and failing to kill a single person, is there any need to worry about someone like you?" Sirius Black sneered. "I only need to kill Peter Pettigrew; the rest is none of my concern!"
“Alright, you can stay here for the night. I’m leaving now.” Cyrus stood up.
"Leave? You don't live here anymore?"
"Living here? With a grown man like you?" Cyrus looked at him with a "Are you kidding me?" expression.
Sirius Black thought that Cyrus would ignore the beautiful Tonks at the Hog's Head and live with him instead?
Unless Cyrus has lost his mind.
He was just about to open the door when the temperature in the air suddenly dropped, followed by a series of hurried footsteps. Cyrus and Sirius immediately perked up.
Sirius Black simply threw the ribs he was holding onto the ground, shrank back into the big black dog.
"Boom boom boom——"
There was a knock on the door.
“Open the door, it’s Aurors and Dementors,” came Lady Rosmerta’s resentful voice.
When Cyrus saw that Sirius had turned back into a dog, he opened the door. Then, a faceless black shadow pounced on him without hesitation!
The coldness cut into Cyrus's flesh like an icy blade.
"Call the gods to protect you!"
Silver, cocoon-like threads surged from the tip of Dexter's wand, instantly knocking the Dementor's body back and slamming it against the wall opposite the door.
"Get out of here, you filthy thing!"
The silver light was like flames, and the Soul Eater, like a hideous beast burned by flames, immediately fled in panic.
Rosmerta and the Auror accompanying him were startled. The Auror even instinctively drew his wand, intending to duel Cyrus.
"it's me."
At this point, Cyrus had already walked out on his own.
"Delix, what are you doing here?" The Auror was also surprised to meet Delix here, but since they were both Aurors, there was no need to search him. "I didn't know you knew Patronus Charms."
“There aren’t any extra rooms at Pighead Bar. I can’t possibly squeeze in with Tonks.” Cyrus glanced at the fleeing Soul Eater with disgust. “I wonder when this will ever end.”
“Who can argue with that? I patrol with these things every day, and all my joy is gone.” The Auror sighed as well.
"Fudge is going too far! These Dementors are bound to cause trouble sooner or later! I heard he even sent Dementors to Hogwarts? He's insane!" Rosmerta wasn't from the Ministry of Magic, so she didn't hold back when scolding Fudge. However, the Auror looked a little embarrassed.
“What else can he do?” Cyrus smiled contemptuously. It was common knowledge that Fudge was incompetent, but Dumbledore’s disappearance for several months had given him a taste of power, and now he was even more unwilling to let go.
"Don't say that in the ministry, or you'll never get a promotion," Auror warned, adding, "At least Soul Eater is a bit better than Sirius. That guy's a madman. A curse he cast over a decade ago killed so many people—"
“Speaking of Sirius, I never dreamed he would be a Death Eater.” Rosmerta pondered for a moment. “Of all the people who have joined the Dark Lords, he is the one I least expected. I still remember what he was like when he was in Hogwarts. If someone had told me back then that he would become a Death Eater, I would have thought they were drunk.”
“Who says otherwise! He’s a complete madman, killing so many people!” said the Auror. “He must have been traumatized, otherwise why would he only go mad after the Dark Lord fell? And he even killed Peter Pettigrew. They were such good friends in school…”
Sirius was eating in the house while listening intently to their conversation. When he heard this sentence, he immediately let out a few angry barks!
"What, you have a dog?" Auror asked curiously.
“It was a stray dog. I saw it was in such a sorry state, so I brought it in and ordered some food for it too.” Cyrus opened the door, exposing the large black dog, which was so thin it was just skin and bones, to the Aurors and Rosmerta.
Sirius glared fiercely at Auror.
“He doesn’t seem like someone to mess with.” Auror smiled and said goodbye to Cyrus. Rosmerta also walked upstairs in her sparkly high heels.
Cyrus closed the door.
"You need to learn to control your emotions, Sirius."
"Control your emotions?" Sirius looked utterly bewildered. "I was so blind! I failed to catch the stench of treachery emanating from him! You know what? We even suspected Remus, thinking he wasn't trustworthy—"
Cyrus listened quietly to his outburst. After a long while, Sirius, perhaps tired or knowing that his anger wouldn't harm Peter Pettigrew, gradually calmed down.
Cyrus glanced out the window.
Night fell over Hogsmeade, the sky was covered with dark clouds, and there was no light at all, as if it were a sign that something dark was about to return.

Night falls over the dark jungles of Albania.
A staggering dark wizard emerged from the depths of the forest in a strange posture.
Upon closer inspection, it's easy to see that his gaze is vacant, and his body resembles that of a soulless puppet. A double image superimposed on his facial features.
The body swayed, emitting unimaginable, astonished, and hoarse sounds:
"He has come back to life..."
