Rin's shout stopped Obito in time, silencing him instantly.

"Lin."

Obito gazed at the girl before him, tears streaming down his face. He had thought he would never see her again when he was pinned under the rock, only to be rescued by Madara and unable to escape. Now, finally seeing her again, he was overwhelmed with emotion.

"Obito. Welcome back."

"Minato-sensei."

"Obito, welcome back."

"Kakashi."

The two were deeply in love, and their feelings for each other quickly intensified after experiencing life and death together.

A group of people surrounded Obito, showering him with concern and completely forgetting about Korot.

"Sigh, people's hearts have really changed. I'm a grown adult here and not a single person cares about me."

Carrot said, looking jealous.

"Hey, Carrot, you did a great job. Let's grab a couple of drinks later."

The overly friendly Jiraiya tried to ingratiate himself with Carrot, wanting to support Minato and win Carrot over. Jiraiya was truly going to great lengths for Minato.

"Lord Jiraiya, drinking with you will only get you into trouble. Every time you drink, you run out of the bathhouse, and it's always the women's bathhouse."

"Hahaha."

Jiraiya scratched the back of his head and smiled sheepishly.

"Thank you, Carrot, for bringing my disciple back safely. I don't know how to thank you enough."

After catching up, Minato came over to thank Karot. Without Karot, he wouldn't even know if Obito was alive or dead.

"This is just a small thing I did for my younger brother as his older brother. If you really want to thank me, then treat me to a meal!"

Karot revealed his true intentions. He implied that he was only helping Kakashi because of him, and that if Kakashi didn't treat his brother better in the future, how could Kakashi have the nerve to complain? He then made a small request.

"It's easy."

Minato was beaming with joy. Kakashi couldn't stop him. His older brother's appetite had increased with age.

Xin Jiuna, who had been silent until now, finally spoke.

"I've just finished cooking at home, let's all go eat together."

Carrot had long heard about Shinjiro's cooking. He had no intention of trying it.

"I'm a little tired today, but I'll definitely visit you another day."

Carrot refused Kushina's invitation without hesitation. He couldn't bear to look at Minato's earnest gaze. He wondered what kind of stomach Minato had, that he could actually eat so much. Then Jiraiya, Obito, and Kakashi were all dragged to Minato's house for dinner. Kakashi desperately hoped Carrot would call him back, but he didn't hear Carrot's voice until he left.

"You're not hurt!"

Only when the father and son were left at home did Hatake Sakumo ask.

"Father, what injury could I possibly get? These are minor issues. It's very easy."

"That's good. From now on, you need to think things through carefully before you start walking."

Hatake Sakumo knew that Karot had chosen Orochimaru, which is why he rejected Jiraiya's invitation.

"I know, father."

When Kakashi returned home that evening, he stood at Karot's door without knocking. He knew Karot wasn't asleep.

"Brother, thank you."

Chapter 50 The Second Chunin Exam

"Jonin Hatake, the Hokage requests your presence."

Early in the morning, the Hokage's Anbu came to summon Karot.

When Karot arrived at the Hokage's office, he saw many familiar faces: the Legendary Sannin, Minato, and Danzo.

The power of Carrot's battle with Madara Uchiha yesterday left the entire land barren. The ninja below reported this, and Hiruzen Sarutobi took it very seriously, wanting to find out the truth. Fortunately, Minato came to report the situation and explained things clearly. This led to Carrot's summons this morning.

"Karot, thanks to you, Konoha has lost one less excellent ninja."

He was full of flattery, but Carrot wasn't fooled.

"This is what every Konoha ninja should do."

Carrot's answer was rather conventional.

"Carrot, who is the enemy?"

This wasn't just a concern for Yuan Fei and Hiruzen; everyone present was concerned. They had all seen the intelligence reports and were impressed by Carrot's strength. They were even more interested in the other person who had fought Carrot, because the most dangerous people are those lurking in the shadows. What were his true intentions in hiding in the Land of Fire? No one knew.

"I don't know who he is either. I'm very annoyed that he got away in the end."

Carrot knew nothing when asked, and he had no intention of revealing Madara's existence.

"Kid, do you know what kind of harm such an enemy could cause to Konoha? And you still won't tell him."

The hot-tempered Tsunade was about to step forward and teach Carrot a lesson, but Jiraiya held her back tightly. Carrot's indifferent attitude had really provoked her. She loved the village deeply, and even though she knew the deaths of her lover and brother were unusual, she ultimately chose to leave the village and wander.

However, Carrot wouldn't indulge this young lady.

"Since Lady Tsunade is so powerful, why don't you investigate it yourself instead of questioning me?"

Carrot slapped his forehead and said again.

"Oh, by the way, our Lady Tsunade is afraid of blood, so she's probably worried that the enemy will bleed and surrender during the fight, right?"

Carrot is rubbing salt into Tsunade's wounds. I haven't offended you at all, so why are you scolding me? Just because you have big breasts? I don't care.

"You, you."

Tsunade pointed at Karot, speechless. Normally, everyone treated her with utmost respect; even Danzo, who was her worst enemy, outwardly showed her deference. It was precisely because of her identity—the granddaughter of the First and Second Hokage—that she held a very special position in Konoha.

"Alright, stop arguing. Do you think this is a vegetable market?"

Yuan Feiri spoke up, surprised that Carrot was so vindictive. He offered both sides a way out.

This is also the image that Carrot deliberately created: a powerful and vengeful person who makes anyone who wants to harm him think twice about whether it's worth it.

"I'm leaving the investigation of Danzo to you."

Yuan Fei-ri-zan entrusted this matter to his old partner, knowing that Danzo would definitely investigate. Given even a single clue, Danzo would relentlessly pursue him like a hunting dog.

"Leave it to me, Hiruzen!"

Danzo agreed, his only thought being how to recruit this enemy to his side.

"During the Third Shinobi World War, Konoha suffered heavy losses, with most of its core strength remaining on the battlefield. Therefore, I want to hold a Chunin Tournament to replenish Konoha's core strength."

Hiruzen Yuan Fei explained his plan: Konoha's Chunin had suffered heavy losses on the battlefield, almost to the point where even basic team formation was a problem, while a large number of outstanding talents had emerged among the Genin. Having been tempered by the battlefield, each of them possessed guaranteed strength.

"Yes, it's been a long time since we held the Chunin Exams."

Danzo also held an exam because his Root organization had suffered heavy losses in the Ninja War and needed to be replenished.

"I want to hold a major tournament and invite other ninja villages to participate, so that we can flex our muscles and let them know how strong we are."

Everyone present seemed to agree, except for Carrot, who looked completely bewildered. "You can make the decision," Carrot thought. "What am I, a Jonin with no real power, supposed to do here? You're all putting on airs. This is completely unnecessary."

"The first examiner is Orochimaru, the second examiner is Minato Namikaze, and as for the third examiner, you, Karot Hatake, will be in charge."

"Ah, me?"

Carrot looked completely bewildered. "Why me? I just wanted to be a spectator, to watch Orochimaru and Minato compete." Hiruzen Sarutobi's arrangements had brought the competition between the two Hokage candidates into the open. But adding Carrot was a bit strange; everyone in Konoha knew Carrot and Orochimaru were close allies.

"The Mistkage will be here to ransom people and participate in the Chunin Exams. Karot, you are very familiar with the Mistkage, so you will be in charge of receiving him."

"Oh, and you're in charge of negotiating with them."

Carrot became interested. "You can take a cut in negotiations," he thought. "The extra part is from my connections." Carrot agreed without hesitation, knowing this was Yuan Fei Ri Zhan's way of getting revenge for him.

"Yes, Hokage-sama, but I need a deputy."

Carrot then made a condition at the opportune moment.

"You can choose any Konoha ninja you like."

Yuan Feiri thought for a moment and then said.

The meeting adjourned, and Jiraiya chased after Tsunade. Minato greeted her and then went to prepare to become her examiner. Orochimaru and Carrot walked side by side.

"Congratulations, Carrot has become an examiner."

Orochimaru spoke softly, showing no fear that Karot would affect his chances of becoming Hokage.

"Orochimaru-senpai, you know me well. My little shoulders can't bear such a heavy burden."

"Carrot, would you mind telling me about yesterday's battle?"

Orochimaru asked, not believing anyone could escape from Carrot's grasp; he knew Carrot's strength better than anyone. All of Carrot's test reports were in his mind.

"I was wondering when Orochimaru-senpai would ask me. I didn't expect it to be so soon."

Carrot then put on a troubled expression.

"You know my time is very valuable, and I don't want to waste it."
