Ultraman Legend of the Light Chaser

cosmic space.
Samuel disliked such places; they were vast and empty. Even the occasional icy celestial bodies that flew by resembled stars that had failed to explode as supernovae. After their natural death, they carried the entire star system to a desolate end, though guarded by countless other stars, yet separated by distance.
Thousands of miles, measured in light-years.
He returned to the vicinity of Earth, and although he couldn't see it, he sensed a vibrant life force—and the twisting energy that clung to it.
Like a leech that has found a fertile body, it lies prostrate, burying its head deep inside, and drinks heartily.
"That jellyfish monster?" Samuel remembered this method of concealing himself through alternate dimensions: "You delayed my return just to allow this jellyfish to grow?"
Mezad are fond of human memories and curious about the emotions that accompany them. Although they lost one individual in the last battle, they successfully peered into the brains of people buried in the sand, thus evolving in a targeted manner into their current form: using radio waves as a medium to invade fantasies and make them appear as reality in the eyes of humans.
If used properly, this ability can indeed cause a lot of trouble. Moreover, it can hide itself in another space. As long as it suppresses its desire for exploration and reduces the chances of actively revealing itself to be collected and analyzed by XIG, the impact it can have will likely be much greater than expected.
But this was ineffective against Samuel, who could detect spatial distortions.
He repeated the tactic of tearing open space that he had used when dealing with Mezad last time, but this Mezad did not rush out recklessly. Instead, it thumped its tentacles and retreated until it reached a vortex.
“This isn’t an ordinary passage,” Samuel couldn’t see the vortex, only the scorching heat seeping from it: “A wormhole?”
Mezad retreated to the vicinity of the wormhole, and his old method of stirring up spatial turbulence himself was much less effective...
Samuel didn't hesitate. When he discovered the wormhole, he understood that the space created by Mezad was just a barrier to conceal it, and what the enemy was really planning was what was inside the wormhole.
There are celestial bodies in the universe called quasars, which are considered to be a type of active galactic nucleus. They devour all the matter within their gravitational range, forming extremely bright accretion disks. Some of them form jets at the poles, radiating enormous energy in the form of light, radio waves, or X-rays.
Although the wormhole in Samuel's perception was not a quasar, the intensity of the energy seeping out of it made him almost think that he was near a quasar, facing the jets at its poles.
Having created such a vast space, Mezad should be far stronger than its predecessors that had been wiped out, but this did not seem to be the case. The jellyfish-like monster did not give Samuel any sense of "threat."
"Is this wormhole the real supplier?" With this in mind, Samuel stepped into the distorted space.
Since the enemy refuses to come out, then we should go in ourselves!
……
Tokyo, KBC television broadcast van.
"Hey, I definitely got a shot of that silver giant," Inoue Rinfumi complained, steadying his camera which was swaying wildly from the aftershocks. "There are earthquakes and monsters everywhere, it's a complete mess. Don't leave now that you're here, let me film a little longer..."
"It's good enough that we got any shots," Yoshii Reiko said, pulling him into the car and continuing to drive into the Chichibu Mountains. "Getting out to take pictures halfway through will take too much time. Let's go!"
As the saying goes, the same thing can appear differently depending on the perspective. If a journalist is merely complaining about not having enough material, then for those in a state of panic…
"Look! The giant is coming!" Someone raised their hand and pointed to the silver figure that appeared in the air, but before they could finish speaking, the giant disappeared.
His hand froze in mid-air.
The television was still broadcasting news of the monsters wreaking havoc; Gaia was fighting the monsters, while the red giant looked isolated and helpless.
The hand fell down in disappointment, dust rose in the distance, and scrolling text at the bottom of the live feed displayed the message that the blue giant had awakened the monster.
"Really, they're all giants, why can't they work together?"
Chapter 103 A Glimpse of the Pass and River
Samuel tore through the barrier and burst into Mezad's lair, whereupon the sea of fireflies suddenly lit up.
He crashed into the sea of gold, and what had been like gently falling snow seemed to awaken from a hibernation, shedding its lazy exterior the moment the silver giant arrived.
The sea of fireflies turned into a rapidly spinning tornado. Samuel couldn't see it, but he could hear a hazy, drowsy bell ringing.
Ding--
It was as if someone had breathed a breath of fresh air onto the desolate water surface.
Samuel saw a different view, but the calm lake and distant mountains were clearly out of place in this alternate dimension. Knowing it was just another interference, he pretended not to see it.
The ringtone sounded again in my ear.
The exploding light blade pierced towards the area with the strongest energy fluctuations, and the sound wave from the explosion drowned out the bell's ringing.
“I can’t let you kill it so easily,” Samuel heard the unwitting thing inside his body say.
Immediately afterward, the smoothly flowing energy suddenly encountered a tremendous obstacle. "Don't bother me!" Samuel forcefully increased the output, igniting flames that spread silver light throughout the void.
It spread to Mezad's tentacles, causing its limbs to dehydrate and carbonize almost immediately, like a jellyfish that had been washed ashore and exposed to the scorching sun.
Samuel clenched his fist and, like an arrow released from a bow, broke through the golden sea of light in the blink of an eye, bringing down a powerful punch!
Mezad was struck as if by lightning; the translucent jellyfish skirt seemed about to shatter from the impact. It stretched out its slender neck and let out a long, distant roar.
The crisp sound of bells mingled with the roar. It was no longer muffled; Samuel heard it clearly.
The distant mountains of Pinghu come into view.
……
Water droplets clung to the girl's ankles, occasionally rolling off.
A golden, short-handled magic weapon lay horizontally on a bluestone. If someone accidentally bumped into it, the bell would ring out clear and melodiously, and time would pass leisurely.
The girl washing her feet turned around, smiling broadly: "Great monster, you've finally decided to come out of the cave."
She shifted her position, placing the jingling magical artifacts on her lap, and made room for half of the bluestone seat: "The water is very cool, just be careful not to get your toes bitten by the fish."
Outside the cave where the great demon was hiding was a lake. Because it was too hot, the girl took off the linen cloak she usually wore and folded it aside, placing it with her shoes and socks.
The weather wasn't great today; the sun was too strong and could easily make people anxious. The young girl, seeking coolness, sat on this blue stone for half a day, sometimes fiddling with the water plants and sometimes teasing the silly fish.
She is waiting for someone.
The great monster she spoke of did not move, and after a long while it let out a muffled hiss.
The girl then turned around to look at him closely, her eyes gliding over the scales that gleamed with a cold metallic light, and then down to the tip of his slender tail.
"Ah, its tail is so long?" She looked at the great demon and then at the blue stone seat she had given up. She moved to the side and finally got up and found a relatively dry stone beach to sit on.
“Here’s the perfect spot for you. There’s nothing more pleasant than cooling off here. Keep your head down so you don’t ruin the shade,” she patted the bluestone surface, then turned her head and megaphone-shaped her hands towards the lake, shouting, “Big guy!”
The sound drifted across the lake, reaching the center where the sun shone brightly, reflecting the entire lake's surface.
The light source comes not only from the sky, but also from the bottom of the lake.
At her shout, a head suddenly popped out of the water, with a few strands of water plants still hanging from its hair.
The owner of the head wiped his face, the light in his eyes fading. He noticed the "great monster" appearing on the shore, raised his arm from the water, and waved to it.
His hands were rough and calloused, and his smile was like a firm yet gentle spring mountain: "Understood, extra food is needed!"
After saying this, he plunged into the lake again, causing ripples to spread to the lakeside and disturbing the reflections of the two people.
The girl tucked the magical artifact back into her waistband, stood up, and said, "Great demon, could you please watch over the big guy's shoes for a while? I forgot the salt; I need to go back and get some."
The great demon nodded, the sound of its scales rubbing together like the rustling of armor plates.
The girl put on her shoes and walked away. The great demon looked down at the lake, which had returned to calm, and his image was reflected in the water.
He opened his mouth, revealing a mouthful of sharp teeth, and his vocal cords, completely different from those of humans, emitted a muffled, thunderous sound.
Perhaps he stared at his reflection for too long, because the water surface was disturbed again, and the person who had just dived into the lake, holding a fish that had probably been knocked unconscious, surfaced again.
"Watch out!" the man in the water shouted, and the slippery fish was tossed ashore with a "whoosh".
The great monster shifted its body to the side to prevent the sticky liquid from splashing onto itself.
The person in the lake was already walking towards the shore. He was very tall, no wonder the girl called him "Big Guy". The tall figure waded through the water, disrupting the brilliance of the star that shone across the lake.
……
“So he wasn’t just making things up,” the ethereal voice chuckled. “‘If you see him, you can call him Xun, Samuel, Great Demon, or Aiba Yu.’ Mezad likes human memories; everyone caught up in illusions sees what they yearn for and mistakes it for reality…”
“It’s not reality,” Samuel said.
The attack, which had been delayed for a moment, continued to fall, shattering the light and shadow on the blue crystal-like lake.
The illusion created by the sea of fireflies can captivate countless people because it faithfully reflects the scenes that everyone most wants to see deep in their memories and that have been beautified countless times.
Just like Atsuko seeing Lilia invite her to the amusement park, and Hitomi Onodera seeing a brand new tomorrow after completing her mission, all those in Tokyo suffering from "sleepwalking" are like this.
A dream that fulfills one's wishes is naturally wonderful, but a warrior's gaze is fixed on the distant passes and rivers, his heart as firm as iron.
Samuel gripped Mezad's neck, and the tranquil lake, distant mountains, and the tall figure shattered and vanished into the void.
The flames scorched Mezad's rough skin as it struggled desperately, but the flames clung to it like a malignant tumor.
"Hey," the voice inside my body reminded me, "why don't you want to look up?"
Samuel ignored him completely and naturally wouldn't look up as instructed, but his senses suddenly detected an abnormal heat around him.
Wormhole!
The wormhole emanating energy, like a quasar jet, was right above us!
A colossal beast emerged from the wormhole at some unknown time, already showing half of its head. Its size was so enormous that the bony horn on its nose alone was as tall as a giant, making the wormhole look like a thin water pipe in comparison to its half-headed form.
It spews out hot air, and its half-open eyes seem to hold the movement of stars.
Even though he had seen all sorts of monsters, Samuel was stunned by its size.
Such a colossal beast is brewing in the skies above Tokyo!
The behemoth spotted him, and despite making no move, Samuel suddenly felt as if the surrounding void was filled with molten matter, reminding him of the feeling when he fell into Uranus not long ago.
The next second, that feeling became a reality.
The behemoth opened its mouth, and the scorching flames, from Samuel's perspective, were enough to engulf him—like a dragon swallowing a whale, it swallowed him and Mezad together.
