Samuel reached a unilateral consensus.

"Another alien beast vibration wave has appeared," Kira Zeyu's message reached the Night Raid Team's ears: "It's two Ultra Warriors."

"With Meta Domain around, there are far fewer things to worry about—fight with all your might."

Chapter Forty-Two: Stars Change, Reunited with You

It was night, the moon was dark and the wind was high.

It is advisable to dismantle alien beasts.

Samuel arrived at the destination, only to find it deserted.

“They’re waiting for us in Zhangwang,” he said. “Are you scared, Chun?”

What nonsense are you spouting?

The human form waved his arm: "Watch your words! Hurry up and beat those monsters to a pulp!"

"Ha ha ha ha……"

The silver light crashed into nothingness and vanished in an instant.

The cultivator sat by a dark, stagnant pool. The silver giant charged into this black and red world without any hindrance, its awe-inspiring brilliance igniting the cultivator's long-dormant eyes.

"You've arrived, Lord Samuel."

The silver giant paused slightly, turning his gaze in their direction.

The monk rose to greet him respectfully, bowing and saying, "You must have received the 'Merit of the Light Chaser,' why didn't you come to see me?"

"Do you recognize this black robe?" Jun Sakuma asked him.

"You are..." The monk's voice made Samuel suspicious. If it was "him", what had happened?

The monk removed his hood, revealing a young face and unusually pale hair.

It was dry, straw-like hair, completely different from naturally silver hair. Anyone who saw it would think it belonged to an elderly person in their sixties.

When Jun Sakuma heard Samuel utter a name in a low voice, the man in black laughed.

"Muchini."

“That’s wonderful, you do remember me,” said the monk, no, Muchini. “I’m glad you’re still alive.”

The young face was as clear and bright as the sea breeze under the moon; Samuel would certainly not forget this face.

He briefly lost his memory during the time he was driven by the Yapools, but the "Honor of the Lightbringers" awakened what had been suppressed in the corner.

So Samuel spent all his time dreaming about the past.

In his dream, he fought alongside his human form, Muchini, to drive the dark "evil god" from their planet, the Ocean Star, Vitamori.

But that was a long time ago, long ago, long enough that the Star of the Ocean became the Star of Sulphur, Suffer.

The native inhabitants of Vitamori ventured into deep space in search of a new home before their planet became uninhabitable.

Their lifespan is long compared to that of humans on Earth, but it is far too short compared to the vastness of the universe, which spans millions of years.

Therefore, Samuel initially thought that the "Order of the Light Chaser" should be returned to him by Muchini's descendants, or that someone who obtained it in the future would travel back in time to find him. He never expected it to be Muchini himself.

The man in black robes raised his hand, as if he wanted to give him a hug.

Muchini opened his arms, and the light descending from the sky shone down in front of him, just like long ago when he first saw this light ignite in the boundless darkness.

"The Lord heard my plea, and after countless worlds, I have finally met you again under the Lord's guidance!"

Muchini, as if witnessing a miracle, spoke in an almost chanting tone: "Lord Samuel, do you still love Vitamori? Please allow me to tell you about the misfortune that has befallen us!"

Goroki Makoto stood silently to the side, looking at him as if he were a madman.

Muchini, oblivious to the situation, continued to pour out his suffering to his "god" as a "believer": "Although you saved Vitamori from destruction, it has gradually become uninhabitable... We have failed to find a new home, the group has split up, the light you left me has weakened day by day, and in the end I can no longer transform!"

The giant's milky-white eyes stared at him silently, as if listening intently to his words.

Jun Sakuma noticed something unusual about the usually peaceful space around him. He looked around but couldn't find any signs of change. However, a strange sense of unease seeped into his bones from all directions.

"We've been attacked, our spaceship has crashed, and we can no longer travel between stars." Muchini walked towards the light, closer and closer, so he could see the figure reshaped from countless nightmares and confirm that he was truly alive.

Muchini truly felt the warmth of the light falling from the sky in his palm, which brought tears to his eyes: "We are trapped on a desolate planet. At first, there were the old people, then the weak middle-aged and young people. Daheti also died, and many people left me!"

“Daheti also…?” Samuel couldn’t help but ask him.

Muchini paused, then rallied his spirits: "When I was nearing the end of my life, it was my 'Lord' who answered my plea."

While listening to a story about death, Jun Sakuma discovers that his sadness is suppressed at the deepest level, and endless anxiety and anger surge up, almost burning everything—it's Samuel's story.

“You still believe in ‘God’,” the Man of Light clenched his fist. “Then where does this ‘Lord’ come from?”

“Naturally, I have come for the suffering of Vitamori, Lord Samuel. Your light has protected me, but it has also made me witness the end of everyone. You must know how cruel this is.” The man in black robes stood at a comfortable distance, neither too close nor too far, which was a comfortable choice, neither offensive nor distant.

“They longed for your return even in their dying moments, but I know you will never come back. I can only deceive them by saying you will hear the Vitamori’s prayers so they may find peace…”

“When I no longer had the strength to dig my own grave, my ‘Lord’ descended, and he led me to you! I want to tell you that Vitamori still has hope of resurrection!”

The man in the black robe waved his hand forcefully, and Samuel saw his trembling fingertips.

Muchini waited for himself in the dark realm.

Then, recalling the "repulsive smell" encountered underwater in Ishikari Bay that day... the joy of reuniting with an old friend was overshadowed.

It was washed away completely, leaving nothing behind.

When they first met, Muchini was only 17 years old in Earth's terms, an incredibly naive young man nurtured by the simple folk customs of the Ocean Star.

It was precisely because of his pure heart that he resonated with the long-dormant light of Samuel, ultimately awakening Samuel who was almost swallowed up.

Therefore, for Muchini, Samuel was a man of light whom he revered, while for Samuel, Muchini was a benefactor who pulled him out of darkness.

"Your name is Samuel?" The young man rubbed his seaweed-like black hair and pointed to himself. "I am Muchini, which means 'son of God' in the Vitamori language. Don't let my appearance fool you, I am a candidate for the next 'prophet'!"

The person in question had just awakened and was somewhat slow to react. He nodded to the young man and then said nothing more.

"Ah... how did you end up here?" Muchini asked him. "This is my consciousness space. But thank you for helping me chase away that dark thing! It was terrifying; I almost got bewitched into jumping down."

“It’s your own fault for not wanting to go down,” Samuel said.

“Of course! Who wants to go to such a bottomless place!” Muchini reached out to the man of light: “Where are you going next? If you have nowhere to stay, would you like to come to my house? You look warm and cozy, unlike the guy from before. Aunt Molly probably wouldn’t mind cooking for one more person.”

“The darkness has not gone away; it will return.” Samuel looked down and took the outstretched hand.

The moment the being of light approached the "Child of God," the radiance illuminated the young man's astonished face: "Darkness...will it return?"

Samuel stared at the people now shrouded in darkness.

Darkness has indeed returned, as it did many years ago in Vitamori; now its lingering spirit is manifested in the "Child of God."

"The hope of resurrection lies in these countless otherworldly realms!" The black-robed man, his tears still wet, laughed. His voice wasn't loud, but it clearly reached everyone's ears: "Their lives are Vitamori's lives!"

"Their souls are the hope for Vitamori's rebirth!"

The silver light suddenly became so bright that it was blinding, forcing even Goro Mujin to squint.

Muchini, however, was just as happy as he was: "Lord Samuel! Let us welcome back the beautiful Vitamori!"

“I’ve had countless dreams, some where Daheti is resurrected, some where we are actually not dead, some where we are still in Vitamori, some where… you are still with us!”

The man in black robes approached step by step into the light. He was much more mature than when they first met, not just in his appearance, but in the spirit and energy that emanated from within.

Samuel found Muchini to be a complete stranger.

It was as if what was walking towards us was not the passionate human being, but a shell filled with long-decayed silt. If you peeled off the shell, you could smell the stench of decay and rot inside.

When Muchini raised his head, his eyes were filled with an overflowing hope. His sapphire blue eyes looked slightly tired from the passage of time, but when he looked at the revered person of light, he still retained an undiminished enthusiasm.

“This must be a miracle of the ‘Lord’, guiding me and you onto the path of our ideals!” the ‘Lord’s’ cultivator exclaimed. “You will certainly not give up this hope. We can fight side by side once again—as your human form, I look forward to embarking on the journey with you again!”

"The merit of the Light Chaser will not lose its power," the Light Chaser's voice was somewhat low after hearing Muchini's words: "As long as your heart is turned toward the light, even if my power is exhausted, the light of your heart will become its power."

The man in black robes stopped halfway through his journey.

He paused, then lowered his arms and tucked them into his wide robe.

“Ah…” Muchini exhaled a long, hot breath: “My heart is turned toward the light.”

The one of light illuminates the path ahead. Muchini turns around, and at the end of the silver radiance lies the boundless silence of the realm of darkness.

“You said that light should go where it is needed,” Muchini turned around, suddenly realizing that the giant was already too dazzling to him: “The places that need light are still there, but back then, the light had died—are you blaming me for not protecting Vitamori, Lord Samuel?”

“You did your best,” Samuel said in a low voice.

“But I want to try again!” Muchini extended the invitation to him once more: “Vitamori needs you!”

Samuel was silent for a moment, and Jun Sakuma heard a heavy sigh.

The giant tensed his body, assuming a battle stance: "You control the alien beasts."

The air suddenly cooled, and even the wind seemed to restrain its low hum as it passed through the cracks in the rocks.

"Ha, ha ha ha ha—!"

It started as a low laugh, then grew louder and louder, and finally the clear laugh turned into a ferocious one.

"Ah... You, who have heard of the Vitamori's suffering, are actually asking about the alien beasts and showing concern for the humans on this planet."

The earth shook violently, and the stagnant water reflected a pair of eyes corrupted by the red light, while a deep purple orb of light appeared in the distance.
