Sister, can I be a maid too?

Chapter 154 Are you and Wanwan going home for the Chinese New Year?

After the final New Year's Day holiday, the first semester of senior year has finally come to an end.

During this period, the sisters Lin Jianxia and Lin Tingwan continued to alternate between attending school for three days and two days respectively.

Lin Tingwan seems to have gradually emerged from her previous closed-off state, and has not shown any more of the autistic symptoms she had before.

During yet another menstrual period, Lin Jianxia was still in excruciating pain, listlessly curled up in Jiang Yubai's study.

Jiang Yubai made her brown sugar water and filled a hot water bottle, taking meticulous care of her all day long.

But when the condition did not improve by the next day, they simply took the person to the hospital.

Fortunately, the test results were all normal, but... the medicine the doctor prescribed was the same as the one dispensed from the same pharmacy last time.

When Lin Jianxia got home, she was stunned when she searched for the name of the medicine and saw the words "short-acting contraceptive pill" pop up.

Of course, in the end she still blushed and silently accepted the medicine box, even shooing Jiang Yubai, who was curious and wanted to take a look, away with her ears red.

The last part of the first semester of senior year was no different from usual.

For other students, the countdown to the college entrance examination is fast approaching.

But for Jiang Yubai and his friends, there was something more important right now—the final exams.

It's not that the exam itself is particularly special, but rather that after the exam, the final winner of this semester's "Progress Scholarship" will be decided.

The rules are actually very simple:

Starting with the final exam results of the second semester of the second year of high school, the progress of each monthly exam during the third year of high school will be multiplied by the corresponding weight.

The highest weighting among them is the final exam of the first semester of senior year, which accounts for as much as 50%.

The final ranking for the Progress Award is determined by the cumulative weighted score of these improvements.

In the monthly exams this semester, Jiang Yubai and Lin Jianxia have made remarkable progress, usually ranking between second and third place, and occasionally even reaching the top spot.

Logically speaking, given that most students' grades fluctuate, their steady progress should have secured them the top spot.

But after asking Master Zhang, I learned that there was a pair of study partners in Class 2 who were both unlucky and failed their final exams in the second year of high school.

Therefore, once they enter their senior year of high school, as long as they perform normally, every exam can be considered a "progress" for them.

With the weight accumulated, the momentum is quite considerable, making it a strong contender for first place in this scholarship competition.

Jiang Yubai was speechless, but he didn't have anything to say.

After all, back in the second year of high school, nobody knew about the progress scholarship, let alone deliberately failing the exam for it.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to accept my bad luck.

So, in order to win the first place prize of two thousand yuan per person, Lin Jianxia dragged Jiang Yubai along and they would go straight to the study after meals almost every day.

Lin Jianxia hadn't originally planned to invite her younger sister, since she would have to take the exams herself.

But Lin Tingwan didn't stay in her room. Instead, she sat quietly beside the two of them, looking at them with curious eyes.

Seeing her like that, Lin Jianxia simply grabbed her as well, calling it "mutual progress".

After all... it's unfair that I'm here fighting through mountains of books and seas of problems while my family just sits around watching the show every night.

And so, in those days of burying themselves in their studies, time flew by and the day of the final exam arrived.

Early morning, at the entrance of the alley.

Jiang Yubai was about to walk out when he suddenly felt his sleeve being gently tugged.

He turned his head in confusion and saw Lin Jianxia tugging at his sleeve. Seeing him look over, she asked in a low voice, somewhat uneasy:

"Hey... Jiang Yubai, do you remember the answer strategy I told you about last night?"

"I remember, I remember, isn't it just the same old routine of 'look at the options first, then go back to the original text to locate the information and eliminate absolute statements'?"

Jiang Yubai repeated it fluently, then raised an eyebrow and asked in return,

"What's the most crucial analytical approach for solving physics mechanics problems?"

Lin Jianxia's expression froze, and she gradually frowned, deep in thought:

"Let me think... yes... yes..."

"First, determine the object of study, then analyze the forces acting on it, and then formulate equations based on its motion state."

Jiang Yubai didn't wait for her to finish her sentence and continued.

He paused, then asked with some curiosity:

"No, am I that nervous?"

"Of course I'm nervous!" Lin Jianxia's previously tense face immediately fell. "Today is the last exam..."

"...Why weren't you this nervous during the previous monthly exams?"

Lin Jianxia wrinkled her little nose:

"That's not the same! The monthly exams didn't account for much of the score before, but today's exam will determine who gets that two thousand yuan!"

“Four thousand,” Jiang Yubai corrected, “I still have two thousand left.”

Lin Jianxia gave him a long, resentful look:

"You're making me even more nervous...."

"OK OK."

Jiang Yu laughed at her, and stopped teasing her.

"What's there to worry about? You've been pushing me to study English so hard. If I don't do well on the test, wouldn't I be letting down Teacher Lin after all her hard work?"

Lin Jianxia's face looked even more miserable:

"What I'm worried about is not doing well on the test..."

Seeing her pitiful appearance, Jiang Yubai didn't say anything like "You'll definitely do well on the exam" or "It's okay if you don't do well."

He thought for a moment, then spoke:

"Lin Jianxia, do you know that this final exam is the highlight of this progress scholarship program?"

"...I know."

Lin Jianxia glanced at him with some confusion, wondering why he suddenly brought this up.

Jiang Yubai continued:

"Do you know how much the scholarship is for the second place winner?"

"One thousand per person?"

"And who's the first place winner?"

"Two thousand per person," Lin Jianxia finally couldn't hold back anymore, "Hey, just say what you want to say, okay? Why are you keeping me in suspense?"

Jiang Yubai ignored her questioning gaze and simply said:

"With our current grades, we'll basically be aiming for second place and fighting for first. If we get second place, we'll each get a scholarship of 1,000 yuan."

Lin Jianxia nodded as if she understood:

"Oh...you mean people should be content, that a thousand per person is already very good, and that we should just relax and take the exam?"

"fart."

Jiang Yu rolled her eyes dramatically.

"Let me ask you, how many kilograms of pork ribs can you buy with two thousand yuan?"

Lin Jianxia frowned, did some calculations, and immediately came to the answer:

"At 25 yuan per jin, that's 80 jin."

"Can you bear to watch eighty pounds of pork ribs fly away from your and your Wanwan's mouths?" Jiang Yubai asked expressionlessly.

"........"

Lin Jianxia was silent for a few seconds, then suddenly adopted a look of resignation:

"Let's go take the exam."

This is 80 pounds of pork ribs!

That's enough to feed the three of them for a whole semester, okay?

Just kidding, she wouldn't give it to anyone else.

Seeing her instantly brimming with fighting spirit, Jiang Yubai couldn't help but smile.

He called out to the girl who was grabbing him and trying to rush into the school gate:

"Wait, wait."

Lin Jianxia turned around, her expression showing some confusion.

Jiang Yubai stepped forward and gently tapped her head three times.

Before the little hedgehog could even bristle, he had already turned and slipped towards the school gate, leaving behind only the words:

"Here, I've passed on all my life's skills to you. Study hard!"

Lin Jianxia was stunned for a moment before she realized what was happening, and her eyes widened immediately.

She quickly caught up with him, just about to grab the bad guy and have a word with him, when a pair of female classmates walked towards her, chatting and laughing.

She swallowed the words that were on the tip of her tongue, pursed her lips, and obediently followed Jiang Yubai's side.

As they walked, Lin Jianxia turned her head to look at Jiang Yubai, then raised her hand to touch the forehead where she had been tapped earlier.

For some reason, the tension I felt suddenly eased a little.

-----------------

The final exams lasted three days: Chinese and Physics on the first day, Math and Chemistry on the second day, and English and Biology on the third day. The schedule was packed with six subjects.

Mathematics and physics, needless to say, have always been Jiang Yubai's strengths.

Although the exam was much more difficult than previous years' college entrance exams, we still finished it about twenty minutes early.
