He selected another bat and branded the [Hard Shell LV2] rune onto it.

[Entry Fusion: The Birth of a New Species]

【Turtle Shell Evil Bat】

A soft cracking sound came from the joints.

The chosen fel bat shuddered violently; beneath its dark, smooth back skin, a visible bulge and hardening appeared.

A layer of dark brown, spiral-grooved carapace rapidly forms and spreads like a second skin.

It quickly wrapped its small body tightly from its back and sides all the way to the front of its abdomen, like a piece of bone armor that fit the body perfectly.

The bat awkwardly tried to flap its wings a few times in the air before it readjusted to its new "outer garment".

Looking at the newly revamped and unique "mutant" monsters in the dungeon—

A combination of mimicry lizards, parasitic bombs, and flying heavy armored turrets.

Ron was quite satisfied.

"Now that's good. When those adventurers come in, they'll probably have to rethink their understanding of the Black Language Cave."

After confirming everything was correct, Ron turned and left the deep core of the dungeon. He needed to report to Lilith and prepare to reopen it.

……

Inside the residence, Lilith stood with her hands on her hips at the door of the tiny washroom, barely big enough for her to turn around, her small face full of displeasure.

"Hey……"

She sighed deeply, her fingertips tracing the cracked wooden door frame with disdain:

"This is way too small! I can't even stretch my legs out inside!"

As the daughter of a noble lord, this cramped and impoverished environment was like putting a cheap sack over her head.

But when she caught a glimpse of her father's slightly hunched figure sewing in the corner, she swallowed back her complaints, leaving only a hint of suppressed melancholy in her eyes.

Alyssa sat quietly in the only chair that was still in good condition, looking at her young mistress with concern.

In fact, Lilith had about 10,000 gold coins in her hands from the last time she went to the dungeon, which was more than enough to rent a larger house.

But she had it all figured out:

This money is to be saved to feed the dungeon, this "golden goose".

The more you invest, the more you lose; only the "Retreat and Rebate System" can return more profit to her!

"I wonder what kind of mess Ron has made of the dungeon?"

Lilith frowned and muttered to herself.

Knock, knock, knock! The knocking sound rang out at just the right moment.

Alyssa, who was waiting in the living room, immediately got up and opened the door. Ron was standing through the crack in the door.

"Ms. Lilith."

Ron's voice carried a hint of relief after completing the mission:

"The dungeon is now open after maintenance!"

"So fast?"

Lilith's eyes lit up, and she strode from the bathroom doorway into the living room.

She raised her left hand, the Lord's Ring on her finger shimmering with light, and her consciousness sank into the ring's space to "inspect" Ron's work.

The view swept across the cave.

The monsters all seem to have leveled up by 1.

But the terrain, the location of the monsters guarding the area...

"Almost exactly intact?!"

Lilith was taken aback, but she tried her best to remain calm on the outside.

Alyssa, who was standing nearby, also saw the image projected by the ring. Her vision went black, and she almost lost her balance and had to lean against the wall for support.

This is called "maintenance"? This is called no work started!

However, something happened that nearly made Alyssa's jaw drop—

Miss Lilith's face showed no anger whatsoever; instead, a bright smile instantly bloomed on her face. She even stood on tiptoe and patted Ron's shoulder forcefully.

"Great! Well done! Thank you for your hard work!"

The praise in his tone was completely genuine.

Chapter 35 Top Adventurers Gather

Alyssa was dumbfounded:

Is Miss exhausted or just confused from anger?

Lilith's little scheme was already running smoothly:

No changes at all? Great!

If those adventurous groups who are holding back their energy come in, won't it be like a bulldozer rolling across flat ground?

A 50,000 gold coin rebate is beckoning her! This time it's all set!

Without further hesitation, she took a deep breath and focused her mind to initiate the ritual through the Lord's Ring:

"Open up, Black Language Caves!"

An invisible wave spread instantly, announcing that this "new" dungeon, which was essentially the same thing in a new guise, had once again opened its doors to adventurers.

Now that the door is open, Ron can retire successfully.

After bidding farewell to the beaming Lilith and the bewildered Alyssa, he went straight back to his spacious and comfortable room in Carolina Castle.

Phew... I can finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Ron eagerly took off his coat and his undergarments, which were covered in some of the dust of the dungeon, and walked toward the huge oak bathtub filled with hot water that the servants had already prepared.

The air is filled with the gentle scent of lavender.

He had just reached out to test the water temperature—

boom!

The room door was suddenly pushed open with tremendous force, skipping even the step of knocking!

Ron turned around abruptly like a startled rabbit!

There stood Miss Carolina at the door, looking quite nonchalant, seemingly holding a gold-embossed invitation in her hand.

Their eyes met awkwardly in mid-air.

Ron's mind went blank for half a second, then he frantically tried to cover his private parts, grabbing a velvet cloth from beside him to shield himself, his voice trembling:

"You! Why didn't you knock before coming in?!"

Carolina's gaze did indeed linger on his muscular upper body for a moment, a hint of surprise flashing in her beautiful blue eyes:

"Huh, this guy's figure is actually quite... well-proportioned" after taking off his clothes?

But she clearly possessed a rougher, more unpredictable personality than the average aristocratic young lady.

Carolina merely raised an eyebrow slightly, her eyes clear and composed, as if she had entered a study rather than a bathroom.

Then, she casually waved her free hand, her tone natural:

"Oh, sorry, I forgot you might be... um... washing up. I'll wait for you then."

As she spoke, she even took a step back, easily closed the door, and asked through the door:

"Are you done yet?"

Ron's muffled voice came from inside the door:

"No, no!"

Even through the door, Carolina could imagine him frantically searching for cover.

After waiting for what felt like about twenty heartbeats, a slightly annoyed voice finally came from inside:

"...Alright, come in."

Carolina then pushed the door open again and walked in calmly.

Her face was flushed, purely from the excitement of running all the way here. There was no trace of embarrassment or shyness on her face regarding the "little accident" earlier.

She skipped over to Ron, her eyes sparkling:

"Hey! I have great news for you! The underground city you designed is amazing!"

She danced with excitement:

"Over a hundred adventurers flooded in last night! And so far, the success rate is still—zero! 0%! Not a single one has cleared it!"

Ron, who had already hastily put on his undershirt and trousers, was awkwardly scratching his wet hair when he heard this, and managed an unnatural smile:

"Is...really? This efficiency...is normal."

"Of course!"

Carolina nodded vigorously, then, as if suddenly remembering something important, tilted her head, thought for a moment, and changed her words:

"Oh right, there's something else I needed to talk to you about!" She waved the exquisite gold-embossed card in her hand:

"It's my father's birthday tonight, and there's a VIP banquet. You're coming with me!"

"Ah I?"

Ron quickly waved his hand:

"Don't joke around, miss. I'm just a tenant, what kind of VIP am I?"

"Why doesn't it count?"

Carolina casually put her hands on her hips, her white curly hair trembling slightly with the movement:
