So all Dolly has to do is make sure no one suddenly falls from the sky and dies; there's nothing else she can do.
Therefore, Dolly decided to have Neville keep an eye out the window to see if Harry and Ron would manage to catch up.
Dolly herself prepared to use healing spells or healing potions.
As for further preparations, Dolly felt it was unnecessary, because she trusted Harry's ability to overcome danger.
After listening to Dolly's analysis, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Neville immediately went to find a suitable spot to observe the celestial phenomena, eagerly awaiting the arrival of Ron and Harry.
However, Neville never found Harry and Ron's whereabouts.
Meanwhile, Ron and Harry were still in the sky, enjoying the thrill of piloting.
They seemed to have entered a mythical dream.
Harry felt that this was undoubtedly the best way to travel: sitting in a sun-drenched car, traveling through swirling, tower-like clouds.
There was a large bag of toffee under the dashboard, and one could imagine the envious looks on Fred and George's faces when they magically descended from the sky and came to a smooth stop on the lawn in front of Hogwarts Castle.
They flew north, checking the direction the train was traveling every now and then, and each descent revealed a different view.
London was quickly left far behind, replaced by flat green fields, then vast purple marshes, villages with churches that looked like children's toys, and then a bustling metropolis with countless vehicles like a dense swarm of colorful ants.
However, a few hours later, Harry had to admit that some of the fun was gradually fading.
The toffee made them extremely thirsty, but they had no water to drink.
Both he and Ron had taken off their coats, but Harry's T-shirt was so wet it clung to the back of the chair, and his glasses kept slipping down his nose.
He had lost all interest in appreciating the fantastical shapes of the clouds; instead, he longed for the train dozens of miles below, where a plump witch would push her cart, hawking chilled pumpkin juice. Why hadn't they made it to Platform 9 3/4?
"It can't be that far, can it?" Ron asked in a hoarse voice an hour later.
The sun began to sink below the clouds, turning the sea of clouds pink. Harry struggled to say, "Can I go down and take another look at the train?"
The train was still below them, winding its way around a snow-covered mountain, where it was much darker below the clouds.
Ron stepped on the gas and climbed higher, but the engine started to groan.
Harry and Ron looked at each other uneasily.
“Maybe it’s just tired,” Ron said. “It’s never come this far before…”
As the sky grew darker and the cries grew louder, they all pretended not to notice.
As the night sky lit up with twinkling stars, Harry put on his coat and tried to pretend he didn't see the windshield wipers swaying listlessly, as if in protest.
“Not far,” Ron said more to the car than to Harry. “Not far now.”
Ron nervously patted the dashboard.
After a while, they flew down below the clouds again, squinting as they searched for a familiar ground target in the darkness.
“There!” Harry shouted, startling Ron and Hedwig. “It’s right ahead!”
On the dark horizon, atop the high cliffs across the lake, stand the silhouettes of Hogwarts Castle's corner towers and turrets.
But the car began to shake and gradually slowed down.
"Help me out," Ron coaxed gently, shaking the steering wheel slightly. "We're almost there, please help me out."
The engine groaned, puffs of steam billowing from under the hood, and as they flew toward the lake, Harry gripped the edge of his seat tightly.
The car jolted violently, and Harry glanced out the window to see the calm, dark, mirror-like surface of water a mile below.
Ron's knuckles were white as he gripped the steering wheel, and the car started shaking again.
"Please help me," Ron murmured.
They flew over the lake... the castle was just ahead... Ron stepped on the gas.
With a clang, followed by a crackling sound, the engine stalled completely.
“Oh dear,” Ron said in the silence.
The car tilted downwards, and they began to fall, accelerating until they crashed into the castle walls.
"No!"
Ron yelled and frantically turned the steering wheel.
But the car eventually lost all power and crashed straight into something.
Finally, with a roar, the car crashed into something wooden, throwing both Harry and Ron out of the car.
At the same time, screams came from inside the wooden door.
It turns out that Hogwarts is holding its Sorting Ceremony for first-year students, and Professor McGonagall is, as is customary, giving the first-year students their preparatory education.
But at that moment, a flying car crashed into the gate with a loud bang.
Fortunately, the gates of Hogwarts were sturdy enough, or rather, fortunately, Hogwarts was essentially a magical fortress, so the car didn't crash into the gates.
Professor McGonagall was almost dumbfounded.
She knew, of course, that Harry and Ron were late, but as Dolly had analyzed, being late wasn't a big deal; at most, they'd just miss the dinner and the Sorting Ceremony.
Even if I miss tomorrow's class, it doesn't matter. What important knowledge can I learn on the first day of school anyway?
But Ron and Harry chose the most explosive way to make their entrance, which almost caused an accident.
"How dare you... Merlin's beard, are you all alright?!"
Professor McGonagall looked at the two people rolling and groaning on the ground and realized the seriousness of the problem. She couldn't bear to criticize them and could only tell them to go to the school hospital first.
Snape and even Dumbledore came out. The loud noise had startled them all, and then they saw car parts scattered all over the ground, as well as the car that was smoking.
"Dumbledore."
Snape spoke up, a smile playing on his lips, his tone undisguisedly sarcastic: "Aren't we going to expel these two students?"
"Severus, don't rush."
Dumbledore's eyes flickered, but he remained outwardly calm, saying, "Things may not be as bad as we think, and there may even be more to the story."
"Fine, you decide, as long as you can control the Ministry of Magic and the Daily Prophet."
Snape shut up; he knew Dumbledore would definitely use his connections to suppress the matter now.
However, this had nothing to do with him; it just gave him another good reason to mock Harry and all the Gryffindors.
"Can you tell me what happened?"
Dolly peeked out from behind the door, and Snape, seeing this, said, "This is none of your business. Go back to your Sorting Ceremony."
The person who showed her face was Dolly, because Dolly knew what had happened, but she didn't expect that Ron would drive his car into the gate.
All I can say is that Ron is truly brave when he gets going.
Hitting the Willow Tree might only result in personal injury, but crashing into the gates of Hogwarts would be an utter embarrassment for Dumbledore.
Snape clearly knew this as well; he could manipulate Dumbledore because of their very close relationship.
However, Dolly obviously couldn't get involved in this, otherwise her relationship with Dumbledore would become even more strained.
Dumbledore, however, seemed quite relaxed and said, "Good evening, Miss Dursley."
"Your brother Mr. Potter and Mr. Weasley gave us a surprise gift, but unfortunately they didn't handle it well and it exploded into pieces."
"However, this shouldn't affect our participation in the Sorting Ceremony. Or, if you'd like, you can go see your brother now?"
Dumbledore's nonchalant demeanor made Dolly realize that Harry was basically alright; otherwise, Dumbledore certainly wouldn't be standing there.
So Dolly said, "No need. Since Harry caused the trouble, he should take responsibility for it himself."
"As for me, I still think attending the Sorting Ceremony is more important."
Dolly's words caught Dumbledore and Snape off guard; they had assumed Dolly and Harry were very close.
Dolly's next words also explained her motivation for her actions.
How can you understand how reckless you've been without experiencing pain?
"I think this is a good lesson for Harry, isn't it?"
Dolly's words forced Dumbledore to nod in agreement, saying, "Mr. Potter should indeed learn from this lesson."
It has to be said that the big news Harry and Ron caused today ranks among the top in Harry's entire career of courting disaster.
Not only because of the danger of the final landing, but also because any mistake during the process could result in a fatal accident.
Dolly didn't expect Harry to change his nature because of one or two injuries or scoldings, but Dolly at least wanted Harry to understand how big of a mess he had made this time.
Dolly turned and went back to the banquet hall. Several professors worked together to quickly clean up the scene, and Professor McGonagall also reassured the first-year students.
Luna stood out somewhat from the crowd, as she wore a grass wreath woven from some kind of grass, making her look like a wild girl.
However, Luna didn't care about other people's gazes. Instead, she stared intently in the direction Dolly had left, her eyes revealing a hint of expectation and longing.
Soon, the branching ceremony proceeded smoothly.
The students had already forgotten the loud noise they had just heard, as it wasn't exactly an unexpected sound at Hogwarts.
The first-year wizards, in particular, all looked tense, some pale and others flushed.
Dolly soon spotted some familiar faces among them.
First and foremost was Luna. Dolly waved enthusiastically at Luna, which immediately drew a lot of attention to her.
After all, Dolly is practically a minor celebrity at Hogwarts now, so how could anyone who gets Dolly's attention be ordinary?
But when people looked at Luna, with her grass wreath on her head and huge French braids, she didn't look like a wizard of noble birth at all.
He didn't even seem like a normal wizard.
"Who is she?"
Hermione, sitting next to Dory, couldn't help but ask, her furrowed brows indicating that she didn't really like Luna.
Hermione intuitively felt that Luna would be a very troublesome person, and this trouble didn't mean that Luna would cause trouble, but rather that communication between her and Luna would be very troublesome.
"Luna, Luna Lovegood."
Dolly said truthfully, "The first wand I sold was bought by her. She was a very interesting and lovely little girl, wasn't she?"
"You think you're qualified to call someone 'little girl'?"
