Chapter Two: Nietzsche, the Superman, and Childhood Sweethearts
"Damn it, why hasn't she left school yet?"
This was Nietzsche's first thought upon meeting Hermione.
"Hmm...she seems to be a middle-class girl who has a lot of conflict with Nietzsche."
This was Sherlock's first thought as he looked at Hermione.
In fact, as a longtime consultant detective in the English police force and a friend of Inspector Lestrade, he had already seen the truth through the abrasions and bruises on Nietzsche's hand joints.
I've just gotten used to it and I'm too lazy to call him out in front of Watson.
It's normal for kids living in the Holmes family to be a little bit like Holmes, isn't it?
"Is this your classmate? Your friend?" Sherlock's eyes habitually lit up with a scrutinizing gaze. "Let me guess, is this the 'only friend at school' that John Watson mentioned?"
Hermione felt a little embarrassed by his gaze.
Is this Nietzsche's father?
That's right! Absolutely! They look each other up and down the first time they meet, they're practically identical.
"No!"
"Friends? No!"
Nietzsche, eleven, and Hermione, twelve, denied it almost simultaneously.
“I am his father. May I ask who he hit at school today?” Sherlock suddenly smiled and placed his hand on the boy’s head. “Sorry, he transferred here last time because of something like that.”
Nietzsche looked like he'd seen a ghost.
Looking up, you can see the Oscar-worthy smile on your adoptive father's face.
Karma has caught up with them! Sherlock will not let himself be taken advantage of!!
Hermione's eyes widened even more upon hearing this, and she looked at Nietzsche with an incredulous gaze: "Didn't you say that you were a hero and that the police arranged for you to transfer schools because they were worried about retaliation against you?"
"Indeed..."
"fraud!"
"It was Inspector Lestrade who arranged my transfer, but in reality, it wasn't much different." Nietzsche suddenly returned to an unusually calm state. "I just beat up a fat bully."
Sherlock, with his hands in his pockets, interjected, "Not just one, but 'several'."
The boy stepped on his foot and walked straight inside.
Hermione didn't leave; instead, she chased after him with the book in her arms. Nietzsche didn't say anything, just listened silently as she kept rambling on about "school rules" and "moral standards."
He stopped when he reached the ground floor of the principal's office.
What are you doing here?
Hermione, who had been muttering to herself, suddenly stopped and her cheeks flushed red.
The freckles, a quintessential feature of British girls, were faintly visible against the red background. Nietzsche looked at this face, which was free of any makeup, and was momentarily filled with admiration.
He stammered and couldn't manage to utter a complete sentence for a long time.
"Go inside, ma'am, you madwoman... I hope you won't be expelled before you graduate from elementary school this time."
"Think about it carefully!"
Holmes, pipe in hand, glanced at the shadows on the wall at the end of the corridor leading to the principal's office, raised an eyebrow, and, too lazy to even wipe the soot off his face, pushed open the door and entered.
In the office of this private elementary school, the walls are covered with medals and trophies.
The principal was a middle-aged man with a receding hairline. Behind him were photos of some important figures, and in the corner were photos of him with donors.
Nietzsche and Shylock's first thought was: This is a person who extremely admires authority and values reputation.
“Nietzsche John Holmes…then this must be his father. Please, all three of you, have a seat.” The headmaster’s face twitched when he saw Sherlock’s dirty clothes hanging next to his own suit.
He was unaware that his every move was being observed by the seemingly reserved Sherlock.
"Your son is an excellent student, but he has a bit of a personality problem... Just a few days ago, he injured three people, one of whom had a broken nose, and the other two had broken ribs and dislocated knees."
“This morning I received letters from three parents complaining that, based on the school’s practices, I should expel your son.”
Hermione's breathing quickened as soon as she heard this.
Nietzsche could see the book in her hand, the edge of which was bent from being gripped so tightly.
“Headmaster! You said…” Hermione mustered her courage and spoke in a voice as soft as a mosquito’s buzz.
"You said 'he should be expelled'."
Although Nietzsche was speaking to the headmaster, he was actually giving Hermione a reminder.
Could it be because he's about to graduate from elementary school, and expelling him now would have repercussions...? Or perhaps he doesn't want to offend Inspector Lestrade...? He considered every possibility in his mind.
Sherlock did not utter a single word throughout the entire process.
He just pouted, biting his unlit pipe, staring blankly into his mind, mentally rehearsing the murder case over and over again.
The principal glanced at the two lost in thought and couldn't help but sigh inwardly:
Problematic father and son.
"You said you saw the three of them engaging in school violence, so you went to stop them, and that it was all self-defense... Nietzsche, I'm sorry, but the victim didn't say he was being bullied at the time."
The principal pushed up his glasses and flipped through the documents on the desk.
Just a few days ago, this problem student with good grades tricked three people into a corner without surveillance cameras and beat them up.
The three people who had fainted were found by officers on duty after school and taken to the hospital. They didn't even know why Nietzsche had caused them to develop mental illness.
"Yes, you should have been transferred to another school, but... this girl is willing to come forward and be your witness."
A thunderclap exploded in Nietzsche's mind.
He had planned everything meticulously, but he never expected that Hermione, who was always at odds with him, would actually step forward as his witness.
In fact, Nietzsche had his own set of rules of conduct at school, but sometimes, Hermione, who was also a book lover, would speak up to stop him... He couldn't do this or that.
Nietzsche gave Hermione a nickname: "Lady Rule-Follower".
Hermione, of course, was not to be outdone, and privately called him "Mr. Always Right".
“Hermione?” Nietzsche said, somewhat incredulously, “Hermione?”
“Miss Granger said that she had also been teased and bullied by those three, so after deliberation, Mr. Holmes, your son will not be expelled... But! He needs to undergo a psychological test!”
To Nietzsche's surprise, after he went outside, he saw Hermione immediately running towards the end of the corridor.
He saw a couple emerge from around the corner and embrace Hermione. Mr. Granger nodded toward Nietzsche and tipped his hat in respect.
Sherlock clapped his hands.
"To celebrate that you weren't expelled, let's go out for dinner tonight... Isn't it surprising that your 'arch-nemesis' at school actually helped you?"
"It's not surprising, after all, Aunt Eileen has a precedent of this happening to you."
As the two walked towards the school gate, Nietzsche suddenly heard someone beside him burst into laughter.
He said angrily, "Aunt Eileen likes you, but what I have with her is a different story. You can see this as a miracle of life! Living is not just about rational thinking!"
"I didn't say anything... tonight at the Royal Restaurant?"
"No problem, just don't tell Watson!"
"If he didn't realize it."
.........
Hermione got into the car with her parents, and she felt a little happy as she watched the scenery rushing past.
"That kid, is he the friend who helped you get out of those three bastards last semester?"
“I don’t agree with what he did. Hitting someone is never good!” Hermione pouted, retorting confidently. “Besides, I wasn’t helping him, it’s just…it’s just…”
Mr. Granger and his wife exchanged a glance and immediately broke into silent smiles.
My daughter hasn't been this confident in a long time.
Although she always liked to bicker with that child and would constantly ridicule Nietzsche when she got home, at least she wasn't spending all her time buried in books by herself anymore.
Hermione was no better than Nietzsche; to escape reality, she preferred to lock herself in the world of books.
Mr. Granger picked up where she left off, and said softly, "I just think it wasn't worth it for him to do that?"
Hermione nodded and continued, "Although his methods were wrong, he at least helped someone. But the person he helped repaid kindness with ingratitude. If I don't help him, how am I any different from those people?!"
“Nietzsche was always like that, like he was drunk, never thinking about whether his behavior was allowed by school rules.”
Hmph, whatever.
She finally caught the other party red-handed.
The thought that Nietzsche would start using philosophical principles to confine himself in the future prompted her to attack him with "I am your savior"!
It's shameless, but it works.
Just as she was swinging her legs, lost in her imagination of riding on Nietzsche's head, Mrs. Granger pulled a beautiful envelope from her bag, which also bore the name 'Hogwarts'.
The contents inside are exactly the same as Nietzsche's, except for the recipient.
"Hogwarts...the School of Wizardry?!"
Some secrets surfaced from the depths of her heart, and Hermione suddenly became somewhat fearful and uneasy.
