Author: Xiaofeng Canyue Tinghe
Summary:
Rhodes, who had just arrived in Teyvat, was kidnapped by desert bandits as soon as he landed. In his moment of crisis, he was fortunate enough to obtain a God's Eye that everyone envied. After escaping the bandits, he wanted to live a peaceful life, farming and teaching, until one day, he accidentally obtained a second God's Eye. Rhodes suddenly realized that things seemed to be getting a little strange.
Chapter 1 Eye of God
The howling wind, carrying sand and dust, swept back and forth between the rock walls that had long been eroded and riddled with holes.
Under the scorching sun high in the sky, even the most heat-resistant sand scorpions have to hide underground and dare not show their faces.
The endless yellow sand had not a single patch of green in between.
All that remains is endless desolation.
In the dead of desert, a hand, sunburnt red, emerged from the shadow of a rock wall.
You can vaguely see that the owner of this hand should have had delicate, fair skin, but now it has become dry, cracked, and dark, and from a distance it looks like the skin is torn and bleeding.
The hand was holding a rock with sharp edges, which pierced into a cactus with a soft "plop," and it painstakingly cut through the thick flesh of the cactus bit by bit, bracing itself against the cactus's thorns.
After a piece of cactus, as long as a forearm, was cut off.
A disheveled young man, dressed in tattered clothes, cautiously peeked out from the rock face.
After looking around for a while, he quickly picked up the cactus that had fallen to the ground. He didn't mind that the sharp thorns on the cactus were stuck in his flesh. He just grabbed it with his bare hands and dragged the large piece of cactus down to the rock wall.
His name is Rod.
In his mind, Teyvat was just a place name in the game.
But now, he has become a transmigrator who has somehow ended up on the continent of Teyvat.
Unlike other transmigrators who come with cheat codes or are born with power and status, he had nothing. Even after calling the system "Daddy" dozens of times, he didn't get a single response.
Worse.
He descended upon the Sumeru Desert, the harshest region on the Teyvat continent.
Even worse is...
Before he could even figure out what was going on, he was kidnapped by a group of desert bandits.
Just like in his previous life, Rhodes' body was that of a fragile college student. Faced with those burly bandits, he had no power to resist and was picked up and dragged away like a chick.
As for why they arrested themselves.
"This pretty boy looks like he's from the rainforest; he'll fetch a good price."
That's right.
It's that simple.
They simply wanted to sell themselves to other tribes.
This group of bandits was not some roaming brigand; they were one of the most notorious tribes in the desert, the Tanit tribe.
It's another very familiar name.
Rhodes was well aware of the Tanit tribe's ways.
This is a group of thugs who treat human life like dirt.
If I fall into their hands, what difference is there between me and someone who is immediately eliminated upon landing?
Therefore, knowing his future fate, Rhodes would try to escape whenever he had the chance.
However, given his frail college student physique, it was simply too difficult for him to break through this group of strong bandits.
Every time he tried to escape and was caught, he was met with a severe beating.
The only good news was that the bandits were afraid of damaging Rhodes and not getting a good price for him, so they specifically targeted the soft flesh on his stomach, at least leaving Rhodes with a pair of intact arms and legs.
"Old Roy, once I escape, I'll definitely give you a longevity tablet to worship every day."
Inside the hollow beneath the rock wall, Rod greedily sucked the moisture from the cactus pulp.
Old Roy, a rainforest scholar who was kidnapped by Tanit bandits after him, was also the target of the Tanit tribe's hunting expedition.
During Rhodes' fifth escape attempt, he sacrificed his own life to give Rhodes a chance to escape.
This white-haired scholar should not have ended up in such a predicament.
When they kidnapped him, the Tanit tribe bandits made it clear that their elder, Babel, had special privileges for scholars, and that Roy would only need to teach the tribe's children to read and write.
However, this scholar with a strong personality was filled with extreme contempt and disgust for the desert people. He would rather risk his life to create an escape opportunity for Rhodes, who was also a 'rainforest person', than accept the shameful thing of teaching the tribe.
They escaped.
But the harsh desert climate dealt Rhodes a heavy blow.
The intense heat, lack of food and water, huge temperature differences between day and night, unpredictable sandstorms, and various desert beasts lurking underground that could strike fatally at any moment.
These dangers posed a threat to Rhodes no less than that of the previous bandits from the Tanit tribe.
Fortunately, the Bear Grylls videos I had watched before came in handy at this time.
With the help of a few scattered cacti and rare date palms, and the occasional scraps left over from the red vultures, Rhodes tenaciously and with great difficulty survived in this harsh and unfamiliar place.
His current goal is to head east.
There is a place called Aru Village.
This is the only safe haven in the desert; once I get there, I'll be safe.
With no landmarks or familiar objects in the vast expanse of yellow sand, Rod had no experience surviving in the desert and could only rely on the sun to orient himself, dragging his increasingly battered body toward what he believed to be the right direction.
dong dong dong-
Just as Rod finished eating the last piece of cactus in his hand, the previously calm ground suddenly began to tremble slightly.
"Camel beast!"
The sudden change caused Rhodes' pupils to shrink abruptly.
Having been on the run for so long, he had become adept at distinguishing various sounds in the desert.
In the desert, few people use camels for travel.
Caravans, scholars, or perhaps, tribal people.
Feeling somewhat uneasy, Rhodes secretly observed the approaching herd of camels through holes in the rock wall.
soon.
He then saw many familiar faces, familiar clothes, and familiar scimitars.
"They're from the Tanit tribe!"
Without hesitation, Rod immediately began a new round of escape, using the rock face as cover.
A bunch of persistent bastards!
Ever since Rhodes escaped from them, these guys have been hunting him down, and he has narrowly escaped being caught again several times.
Rhodes knew very well that if he fell into the hands of the Tanit tribe again, those madmen would definitely take his life.
But it's a pity.
Even though he tried his best to hide and was careful enough in his escape.
Just like before, before he had gone far, his figure was spotted by the battle-hardened Tanit warriors.
With a shout of "It's that kid! Chase him!", the previously lazy camel suddenly perked up and chased after Rhodes closely.
"escape!"
"Get out of here!"
"We can't let them catch us!"
Rhodes roared inwardly, not daring to stop for a moment.
He had lost his shoes long ago, and the scorching yellow sand made his soles bleed profusely, but this did not slow down his escape.
Pain is better than death.
What's more, in such a life-or-death situation, Rod didn't feel any pain in his feet at all. Instead, he cursed himself for not exercising regularly and for running too slowly at the crucial moment!
just.
No matter how hard Rod tried to escape, he only had two legs, and no matter how hard he tried, the footsteps of those camel-drawn beasts were still getting closer and closer to him.
"Where are the cliffs? Where are the rivers? Even a wild animal's den will do!"
Rod looked around anxiously.
In his previous escapes, he once jumped off a cliff without regard for his life and luckily got caught on a tree branch; another time he encountered a river and drifted away with the swift current; and yet another time he hid in a wild animal's den and escaped by taking advantage of the fact that the ferocious beasts were not home.
But this time, it seems fate is no longer on Rhodes' side.
All around was endless yellow sand; there were no cliffs, rivers, or wild animal dens to be found, not even hills or mounds where one could hide.
"damn it!"
"damn it!!!"
Rhodes roared, and in this desperate situation, his already struggling legs quickened their pace even further.
He has only one thought in his mind right now.
Can't give up!
Never give up until the very last moment!!!
He was theoretically on the verge of exhaustion, but somehow a surge of strength appeared from nowhere, and he sped up again, even the camel-like beasts of the Tanit tribe couldn't catch up with him.
However, such an outburst cannot last long.
In just two or three minutes, he was completely exhausted, staggered, and fell heavily to the ground.
As the adrenaline rush subsided and his body returned to normal, he struggled to even stand up, let alone run. The excruciating pain in the soles of his feet caused him to tremble with every movement.
"Am I going to die here?"
