Mystery: A Spark

It would be truly laughable if an angel in a sequence could be rendered helpless by political means.
However, Arthur couldn't figure out what George III was planning to do for the time being, and Sharon didn't send any relevant information either, as if the old man had already given up and was just futilely stalling for time.
After the Rune military received weapons from the Umbrella Corporation, Rune's power experienced a significant leap.
In this situation, it would be difficult for Fursak to easily overwhelm the Kingdom's navy at the front lines and then launch an air raid on Backlund.
They couldn't even withstand a single salvo of psionic cannon fire, so how could they possibly fly to the mainland of Rune?
"Boom!"
A deafening explosion rang out and reached Arthur's ears.
He stood up blankly, looking out the window at the distant sky where rows of dark brown airships were approaching in dense formation. He couldn't utter a word for a long time.
……
Backlund, a large and well-organized force of Fussack airships cut in from the north and arrived over the metropolis.
As soon as they approached, the Cathedral of Holy Wind and other places seemed to have made some preparations. The howling wind suddenly intensified, transforming into one after another giant bluish-black blade, whistling towards the target, just like cannonballs fired into the air.
Just as these giant blades were about to strike the airship formation's airbags, an invisible defense appeared, blocking all the attacks.
Under the violent onslaught, the transparent "wall" began to sway, but ultimately managed to hold on.
At the same time, the airship's gun barrels, machine gun barrels, and throwing ports opened one after another, aiming downwards.
boom!
As the hurricane formed around the Cathedral of the Holy Wind, explosive sounds echoed in all directions.
In such a terrifying storm, the airships were like ships sailing on the sea, rising and falling in the mountain-like waves, about to be thrown far away.
Just then, on the lead airship, a flash of light, like blood and rust mingling, enveloped all its companions, connecting them one by one.
Suddenly, Fussack's airship fleet stabilized in the hurricane, no longer resembling tiny vessels in giant waves.
This is the authority of the "War Bishop"!
The Fusaks seized the opportunity to begin dropping bombs, sending them falling downwards, about to bloom into flowers of destruction.
At that moment, the roof of St. Hillan Cathedral suddenly changed, and black cannon muzzles appeared.
Some of the cannons flashed green light, detonating the shells still in mid-air one by one, while others were aimed at the airships in the sky.
Then, fire in unison!
……
The air raids by Fussacks ended because all of their airships had been shot down.
The Church of the Earth quickly dispatched personnel to treat the injured, having gained sufficient experience from previous smog events.
On the top floor of the twin skyscrapers, a large group of people had already gathered; they were all core members of the Mutual Aid Association.
They were all somewhat bewildered and whispered among themselves, not knowing what had happened.
Audrey arrived here in the elevator with a serious expression. She had just gone to deal with the chaos at Umbrella Corporation to ensure that there were no casualties due to the Furstack airstrike.
"Sister Audrey, what happened?" Vina called out softly to Audrey from the crowd.
Audrey glanced at the others, not intending to reveal the truth and cause chaos, but instead comforted Vina:
"Don't worry, it's all over. The chairman will handle it."
“Miss Audrey, please go to the meeting immediately,” Williams said as he came out of the office and approached the group.
“Okay, I’ll go now.” Audrey patted Vina’s head, then turned and walked into the office.
Upon entering the office, she found the atmosphere to be very oppressive.
Everyone stood in front of the desk, looking nervously at Arthur, who sat in the chair as still as water. For a moment, no one dared to utter a sound.
Audrey pursed her lips and broke the silence, saying:
"President, the Fursaks somehow managed to get directly to Backlund and launched an air attack on us. Fortunately, the major churches reacted quickly enough, and the wounded are currently receiving treatment. The death toll... is still uncertain."
Arthur looked at the map on the table and asked in a low voice:
"How did they get here? Were all the Kingdom's navy wiped out? Did they take our weapons and make no difference at all?"
Sharon appeared silently in the room and said:
"President, the Kingdom Navy..."
Pallas burst through the door with a "bang!" and continued the conversation:
"Arthur, the royal navy that was supposed to be guarding the border of Rune against Fusak has all been transferred away by George III and is now nowhere to be found. Rune is now completely undefended against Fusak."
"It is said that George III also gave his officers a non-resistance order."
"No resistance..."
Arthur's face twitched. He was silent for a few seconds, then said in a voice devoid of emotion:
"Hugh, Audrey, Sharon, Mr. Goebbels, please stay."
"Everyone else, get out."
Chapter 281 Arthur's hand trembled slightly.
After Arthur gave the order, the people in the office left one after another.
Soon, only the four people he had called out were left.
The atmosphere in the office became even more somber and oppressive, and even Pallas, who was not under Arthur's command, did not speak casually at this moment.
“What a fine order of non-resistance… Hehehe…” There was no hint of amusement in Arthur’s laughter.
At her desk, Hugh nervously swallowed, seeing a side of Arthur she had never seen before.
In the past, Arthur always faced things with a smile and a calm expression, as if everything was under control.
Now, Hugh could clearly sense that Arthur's emotions were like a volcano that had begun to smoke, and were on the verge of erupting.
All of this was because Arthur heard the words "non-resistance".
"Have the kingdom's border navy been completely wiped out?" Arthur asked in a deep voice.
"That's what I was about to say. According to my intelligence, there is enough evidence to suggest that a portion of the border naval forces has been reassigned to several different locations, but I haven't been able to pinpoint their exact locations yet," Sharon asked calmly.
She had no idea what George III intended to do with the Royal Navy, assuming it was just a routine mobilization.
But upon hearing her description, Arthur quickly made a connection in his mind: the nine Black Emperor tombs.
He took a deep breath, his hands trembling slightly as he removed his gold-rimmed glasses and gently placed them on the map.
“Mr. Goebbels, has the military received no relevant information?” Arthur asked.
Pallas replied in a deep voice:
"At that time, the Royal Navy was ordered to remain silent, and their command had been taken over by officers from George III's faction. The same was true in many other places, where they were all controlled and a policy of non-resistance was implemented."
"Fortunately, after realizing the situation was not right, some officers chose to refuse orders, so the air raid we suffered this time was not too serious. Rune's various defenses can still hold off Fusak's offensive for the time being, but it's hard to say what will happen in the long run, after all..."
After all, their king is a son of a bitch who lets in foreign enemies!
"Those border naval personnel who were transferred are probably not coming back," Arthur sighed.
"What do you mean by saying you can't come back?" Pallas asked, frowning.
"It means that most of these people are going to die." Arthur closed his eyes.
"He dares!" Pallas suddenly became furious.
"Why wouldn't he dare?" Arthur opened his eyes and asked rhetorically. "He's already let enemy troops into his own capital and had enemy airships drop bombs on us. What else do you think he wouldn't do?!"
He stood up and slammed the pencil in his hand onto the map with a "thud!"
“This man has gone mad! Don’t you understand? He’s gone mad! You can’t look at him like a normal person anymore!” Arthur roared.
If George III had used other methods to let the enemy in, such as selling them the details of his own defenses and allowing them to invade Rune's homeland after a fierce battle, then Arthur's situation would have been better.
After all, he knew that George III was a scoundrel, so such actions weren't surprising.
But no matter how much Arthur planned, he never expected that George III would actually transfer his own army to build his mausoleum.
That's absolutely outrageous! Even the infamous Empress Dowager Cixi never did anything like that!
And most importantly, this son of a bitch even came up with a "non-resistance policy".
This immediately made Arthur feel utterly disgusted.
"Fine, fine, you want to build a tomb, is that it? Since you dare to build it, I dare to bury you..." Arthur looked at Sharon and said:
"Miss Sharon, have your spies ready to spread the news at any time, and find a way to get solid evidence that George III has transferred troops."
"Yes," Sharon replied, gave a slight bow, and then disappeared.
“Miss Audrey, I need you to mobilize all the resources of the Umbrella Corporation to quickly stabilize prices, especially for necessities like food and salt. We must not allow anyone the opportunity to hoard and speculate.”
Arthur's tone softened somewhat as he continued:
"This might be a bit difficult for you, after all, your father is also..."
“I will handle this.” Audrey looked up at Arthur and said with utmost seriousness.
Arthur met her gaze for a few seconds, then nodded.
"Okay, I believe you."
He then turned his gaze to Hugh and said:
“Hugh, I need you to mobilize the entire Workers’ Mutual Aid Society. Everyone needs to start military training. We may be facing a war of unknown duration.”
“Yes,” Hugh said seriously.
“Mr. Goebbels, the Kingdom’s navy is now beyond repair, and we can only rely on the army to resist Fussac’s offensive. Please contact all factions in the military to determine their attitude in this war. We must unify our thinking as soon as possible,” Arthur said to Pallas.
“I understand,” Pallas replied.
"Let's disband," Arthur said in a low voice.
The four people left the office one after another, and the place became quiet and somewhat deserted.
In the unspoken silence, Arthur suddenly spoke:
