Let's start over, Your Majesty.

Chapter 42 The Unusual Gaze

Chapter 42 The Unusual Gaze

The breakfast at the guesthouse was simple: a bowl of sweet and sour seafood soup with bread.

People here seem to really enjoy adding sour flavors to their food, which can invigorate them in the morning.

During the meal, Yumilia and Ita were having a lively discussion about where they should go for sightseeing that day.
I've been in the bay for four days now, and I've visited a different attraction every day: the White Dove Mountain statue, the heart-shaped lake, the Maritime Museum, and I even tried a local sea salt bath.

Over the course of a few days, Ita and Caesar's skin had turned a wheatish tan, while Yumilia's skin remained as fair as ever.

Today, Yumilia plans to visit the seaside market. Last night, she specifically asked the guesthouse owner, who said that the beautiful seashell ornaments in the room could be bought there.

Caesar did not join their discussion, and while eating, he kept a close eye on his surroundings.

The feeling of being watched came and went during this period, but it never disappeared, like an unpleasant background noise that was constantly locked on.

During his trip, he frequently used the Domination skill to clean up the surrounding area but found nothing unusual. The people around him were just ordinary tourists and locals, and the stares seemed to come from a more distant place.

But why would anyone be watching them? Could it be that they've discovered Yumilia and Ita's special racial identity?

Regardless, this kind of staring is not well-intentioned.

“Caesar, look at this, Sapphire Atoll. Shall we go there this afternoon?” Yumilia pushed a tourist guide over, eagerly showing him the rows of rocky islands on it.

Caesar was silent for a moment, then said, "How about we rest today and go tomorrow?"

He wanted to take advantage of the day to find out who was spying on them.

"Huh? Why?" Yumilia asked, puzzled.

"I feel a bit unwell due to the change in environment. I want to rest," Caesar said.

"Are you feeling unwell? Could it be because of the sea breeze last night? Should we go to the hospital?" Yumilia asked with concern, gently touching his forehead.

"I'm fine, just a little tired," Caesar said.

“I see,” Yumilia nodded. “Then, Caesar, you can rest in the room. Ita and I will go to the market first, and we’ll stay in the room with you this afternoon.”

This won't do; we can't let the two of them act alone.

“I’ll go too, it’s nearby, I’m fine with it,” Caesar said.

Brown Bay Market is built in the middle of a lake, shaded by green trees. The azure lake is lined with shops, the kind of diverse shops typical of tourist attractions, selling seafood, unique handicrafts, and mountains of bright red tropical fruits.

The locals were loudly hawking their wares in Iroquois with their accents.

Yumilia led her two children around, looking here and there. They couldn't tear themselves away from a large souvenir stall. There were many adorable ceramic marine animal models there, and she wanted to buy every single one to take home.

Unfortunately, my wallet and weight didn't allow it, so I had to choose carefully.

The same feeling of being stared at returned as Caesar examined a fishbone-carved bracelet.

His gaze swept across the surrounding crowd, and then the feeling of being stared at disappeared.

"What exactly are they trying to do?" He frowned slightly.

Turning my head, I saw an ugly green fish-man head standing in front of me.

He opened his mouth, and then saw the fishman take off his hood, revealing Ita's cute little face.

"Hehe, scared you, didn't you, brother?" Little Dragon said with a grin, his eyes narrowed.

“What an ugly hood,” Caesar said.

"No way? I think it's really cute," Ita said. "Would you like to try it on, brother?"

"I do not want it."

"Wear it, wear it."

Ita had already forcibly put the fish headgear on his head.

After putting it on, everything went black, followed by Ita's cheerful, bell-like laughter.

"Are you satisfied now?"

"Yumeria, I want this!" Ita went to Yumilia with the fish headgear.

"Huh? Ita, where did you find that? It's a really interesting hood," Yumilia said.

"Am I out of touch with the times?" Caesar looked at the two of them with some self-doubt.

Yumilia bought a lot of things in one go, including a set of plates engraved with jellyfish patterns and many small and exquisite ceramic fish.

“Caesar, look at this, doesn’t it look like you?” Yumilia held up a ceramic sculpture of a pufferfish, which also had a pouty face and always looked unhappy.

“It looks like a head.” Caesar’s eye twitched.

After buying the items, Caesar and Ita helped carry them, and Yumilia, to thank them, took them to an ice cream shop for fruit shaved ice.

A few tables and chairs were scattered outside the cold drink shop, and as soon as Caesar sat down, that feeling of being watched returned.

And this time it seemed particularly intense, staring straight at him.

Its dominance spread silently, searching for every passerby in the vicinity.
"Where exactly is it?" He frowned.

Although no abnormalities were found during the commander's inspection, he felt that every passerby who walked by was a spy.

"Caesar, Yumilia, look, this is what the big brother over there gave me! Let's eat together!" Ita went to the toilet and ran back, carrying a big bag of fragrant roasted nuts.

"Who gave it to me?" Caesar immediately became alert.

“The older brothers and sisters over there,” Ita pointed to a group of young men and women not far away.

"They said I'm cute, so they treated me to this," Ita said shyly, her face flushed.

But Caesar snatched the roasted nuts from his arms and dumped them all onto the table in front of him.

They were just ordinary roasted nuts, slightly charred and still steaming, but Caesar grabbed a handful and examined them closely, as if they contained bombs.

"Caesar, what's wrong?" Ita asked, noticing his puzzled expression.

The nuts are fine.

Caesar narrowed his eyes slightly, glancing at the group of men and women, but he couldn't find anything unusual about them.
However, he still put all the nuts back into the bag and said to the still puzzled Ita, "Don't eat things given by strangers, especially in a place like this."

"Huh?" Ita looked very disappointed.

“Caesar is right, it’s okay. I’ll buy it for you later if Ita wants to eat it,” Yumilia comforted her.

Caesar picked up the bag of roasted nuts and took it to the group of men and women, placing it on their table.

"Uh, what's wrong, little brother?" The four young men and women looked at the boy and exchanged bewildered glances.

Caesar stared intently at them, as if trying to see right through them, for several seconds before saying, "I'm sorry, she shouldn't have taken your things."

They wanted to say something more, but Caesar had already turned and walked away.

Back at the table, she suddenly saw a bearded man talking to Yumilia.

"What do you want to do!"

He immediately stepped forward and blocked Yumilia's path. "Oh, I just wanted to ask for directions," the bearded man said.

"Why don't you ask the locals for directions instead of asking us tourists?" Caesar said, staring intently at him.

“Well…” The bearded man shrugged. “Don’t be nervous, little brother. I just think you two should be quite familiar with each other.”

"Should? If you can't explain it clearly, we're going to the police station right now!" Caesar said sternly.

When the bearded man heard him say that, he looked surprised and widened his eyes. He rolled up the map in his hand, muttered something to himself, and left.

"Hey, you"

Caesar wanted to go up, but Yumilia stopped him.

"Caesar, what's wrong?" she asked him with concern.

“I… tsk,” Caesar covered his face, “I just feel like someone is always spying on us.”

"Spying?" Yumilia looked around.

"Where is it?"

“I don’t know, but I always have this feeling,”

"Should we go find the police?" Yumilia asked.

Caesar shook his head. The police couldn't handle this kind of subjective victimization and would probably just think it was a prank.

Yumilia and Ita also noticed that something was wrong with him and looked at him with concern.

"Shall we head back now?" Yumilia said. "Caesar should also go back and get some rest."

"Um"

So we quickly finished the shaved ice, packed our things, and headed back.

But as soon as he stepped out of the market, Caesar suddenly felt something—a gaze he had never felt before.

He turned his head and saw a figure flash by on the roof of a small building not far away.

"Got you!"

His eyes narrowed, and he dropped the souvenir bag in his hand and rushed over, ignoring Yumilia's shouts behind him.

I rushed to the small building, turned around, and found that it was a small courtyard where four men who looked like locals were peeling coconuts.

There was no other way out here, and he ran straight here in one breath, which means that the spy was among these four people.

Caesar's gaze swept across the faces of these people, but he couldn't tell who had been spying on them from the rooftop.

"Then we'll just have to beat them all up." His face darkened.

Yumilia and Ita hurriedly followed, and as soon as they arrived, they saw Caesar grabbing a man by the collar and shaking him violently, shouting as he did so:
"Speak! What exactly do you want! Who sent you!"

There were three men lying on the ground nearby, groaning in pain.

They never expected that this little kid, who was so small, would be so capable. Before they even knew what he was there for, he was beaten up and knocked down.

"Caesar!"

Yumilia rushed forward and pulled him back, "What are you doing! How could you hit someone!"

"They are the voyeurs I was talking about! Take them to the police now!" Caesar shouted.

Before Yumilia could say anything, a scream rang out: "Oh my god! What are you doing!"

Looking over, he saw a woman holding a basket of green coconuts, staring at him with wide eyes.

"And who are you?" Caesar asked, staring at her.

"I am the owner here. They are all my employees, helping to peel coconuts," the woman said, stunned.

She couldn't understand how a child could take down four adults.

Caesar sneered:
"You think it's true just because you say so?"

"I'm so sorry! He's not feeling well today and has caused you trouble! I'll pay for his medical expenses! Please forgive him!" Yumilia quickly pressed his head down and apologized.

The four poor men who had been beaten got up one by one, and when they saw Caesar, they all ran away as if they had seen a ghost.

After leaving the small courtyard, Caesar's expression remained grim throughout the journey.

"They are clearly voyeurs."

Yumilia pursed her lips and looked at him, then lowered her head: "Caesar, you must be very tired. You should go back and rest."

"No, why don't you believe me?" Caesar said angrily.

“I believe you, but you saw it too, they were just opening coconuts there. You said someone was spying on them, but they said they were just going upstairs to smoke,” Yumilia said.

Caesar opened his mouth as if to say something, but then turned his head and clicked his tongue.

"I can't explain it to you!"

He said this and quickly walked forward.

Yumilia watched Caesar's retreating figure, sighed, smiled slightly at Ita who looked worried, and took her hand: "Let's go back quickly."

At that very moment, a seagull landed leisurely on the roof of the small building, gazing in Caesar's direction, its eye gleaming with a dark purple light.

Everything the seagulls saw was relayed back to the little wooden house nestled in the distant mountain valley.

"Something's not right with this kid."

The bearded man stroked his chin, looking at the black-haired boy's figure in the picture, and frowned.

"His alertness is too high, he doesn't seem like a child at all. He can even detect the presence of a scout spirit."

A thin man with messy hair was squatting on a dilapidated wooden table next to him, holding a sniper rifle taller than himself.

He scratched his messy hair in frustration and complained:

"Hey boss, we've been watching for four whole days, what are we waiting for? Just let me shoot her, okay?"

"Doing things haphazardly will lead to problems." The bearded man lit a cigarette and started smoking.

"Madam wants us to finish this quietly. If you fire a shot, the New Era Daily will publish this story everywhere tomorrow, and those old guys will recognize who did it at a glance."

"Tsk, so what do you suggest we do? Just keep watching like this? Once they go back, there won't be another chance," the skinny man said.

"Heh." The bearded man exhaled a puff of smoke. "It's all ready. Tonight, a siren will attack the people along the coast, and among the dead, there will be an extra little girl who won't attract anyone's attention."

"A siren? You can even get your hands on one of those? Seriously, isn't that commotion bigger than me firing a gun?"

"There was a siren attack in Brown Bay fifteen years ago, and after all these years, no one can say that the siren have been completely eradicated. So, although the probability of a siren attack is low, it's definitely not zero." The bearded man chuckled.
"As long as we throw the siren into the sea, the rest is none of our business."
