Chapter 27 Ita
At dusk, the sound of wild ducks calling as they returned to their nests drifted in from outside the window. The pink glow of the sunset shone through the window onto the bed, illuminating Ita's rosy and delicate face.

Her long eyelashes fluttered, and she slightly opened her eyes, seeing the crimson sunset through the window.

It was peaceful and warm, and I didn't feel hungry after waking up.

It's been a long time since I've felt this comfortable.

"You're awake, Ita."

Turning her head, she saw Caesar sitting on the edge of the bed, leaning against the wall on a stool, holding a book and looking at her expressionlessly.

Ita winked at him, then suddenly remembered something, her cheeks turning as red as the sunset outside the window. She pulled the blanket over her head.

"Hey, you don't have to act like this when you see me, do you?"

Caesar pressed his head against the book, speechless. He had almost forgotten about the incident, but her reaction upon seeing him made him feel embarrassed again.

"Well"

Ita poked half her head out from under the covers, her beautiful golden vertical pupils looking at him with embarrassment.

"My sister said that if a girl's body is seen naked, she will never be able to get married."

"What kind of kindergarten-level talk is this? Wait, when did dragons start saying things like this?" Caesar said, twitching his eye.

"What else did your sister tell you?"

"Hmm," the golden eyes looked away.

"My sister also said that we should repay kindness when we receive help. You helped me, so I should repay you, but..."

Those eyes drooped downwards.
I have nothing now.

“Don’t you still have someone else?” Caesar said.

Ita stared at him with wide eyes:
"you want me?"

"I mean"

"My sister also said I should be careful of any males who try to get close to me, because they're either bad people or perverts."

"."

"That makes sense."

Ita covered her head with the blanket and remained silent.

The atmosphere seemed to become somewhat awkward.

Caesar sighed, deciding to change the subject and get down to business:

"So where did you come from, and why are you wandering around like a dragon? Can you tell me now?"

"I"

The blanket was pulled back, and Ita looked at him timidly, whispering...
"I ran away from home."

"runaway?"

"Um"

"why?"

“Because…” Ita lowered her eyes: “My brother told me that Mom and Dad went to a very, very far place, and that if I went to a place where I could see both the moon and the sun at the same time, I could find Mom and Dad.”

"So you ran off all by yourself to find your parents, and ended up wandering for so long?" Caesar frowned slightly.

Ita nodded slightly.

This really does sound like the plot of a teen romance movie.
Caesar always seemed to sense something was amiss, but he had no way to verify it at the moment.

"So you're wandering because you're lost and can't find your way home?"

Ita nodded again: "Because the place where I live is covered by a big dome, and if I come out, I can't see the dome anymore."

She lowered her eyes in disappointment: "I can't find my way home."

"Is it magic of domains or space?" Caesar pondered.

"Besides your older brother and sister, are there any other dragons in your family?"

“And my younger brother Noah, Uncle Robert, Grandpa Doruvan, Aunt Fran, and Grandma Hughlin,” Ita said, sticking her fingers out from under the covers and counting them off one by one.

There are probably eleven more dragons.

This number looks like quite a lot.

Through her words, Caesar learned that the dragons now live in independent spatial realms, and their numbers have dwindled to only eleven, of course, it's Ita's family, but there might be other dragon clans elsewhere in the world.

Furthermore, Ita's parents are most likely deceased; she is currently being cared for by her older siblings. Caesar then asked:

"Also, I'd like to ask you, is your surname Holonig?"

Ita looked at him in surprise: "How did you know?"

really.

The little dragon in front of me is a direct descendant of Leogard, the former king of the dragons.

"Who is Leogard to you?" Caesar asked.

Dragons have very long lifespans; six hundred years is just one lifetime for a dragon. Ita's bloodline connection with Leogard might not even be more than three generations.

“You mean, my great-grandfather?” Ita winked at him.

"Great-grandfather?"

Okay, it's been more than three generations.

Ita nodded: "Leogard is my great-grandfather. My sister and brother both say that he was a great dragon, a hero, and that even humans respected him."

Caesar gazed at the sunset outside the window and let out a long sigh.

Unexpectedly, I ended up meeting Leogard's great-granddaughter by sheer coincidence.

Fate can be really unpredictable sometimes.

"Caesar."

"Ok?"

"You're amazing. You're human, yet you know so much about dragons," Ita said, blinking her big eyes at him.

“I read it in a book too,” Caesar said.

Then he added, "But don't tell her I know these things, and don't tell her I can speak dragon language."

"Why?" Ita asked, puzzled.

“Everyone has their own secrets,” Caesar said. “For example, you certainly still have secrets you’re hiding from me, don’t you?”

"I," Ita lowered her gaze and murmured softly, "I do wet the bed quite often."

"It's not about that." Caesar covered his head, somewhat helplessly.

"How exactly did your older brother and sister teach you? They taught you all sorts of human-like concepts, but you can't speak human language."

“My sister taught me to speak human language, but I can never seem to learn it,” Ita said dejectedly.

“Never mind, I’ll teach you from now on,” Caesar said.

"Later?" Ita tilted his head at him.

"Hmm." Caesar nodded. "Letting you continue to wander outside isn't a solution. Yumilia likes you quite a bit and is willing to take you in. If you trust us too, you can stay here until your older brother and sister come looking for you, or until we find them."

Caesar looked at her: "What's your decision? Will you stay?"

"I"

Ita hesitated, gazing at the sunset outside the window, remaining silent for a long while.

Caesar did not disturb her and waited for her response.

“Other humans will hate me,” Ita whispered.

“As long as you don’t suddenly turn into a dragon and scare people, no one will hate you,” Caesar said.

"Me...me."

Ita clutched the blanket with her two little hands and rubbed it back and forth.

"If I stay, is there anything I should do?"

“If I need any work, you can be my assistant. As for other things, you can do whatever you like,” Caesar said.

Ita pursed her lips, her face flushed, still looking embarrassed and ashamed.

"If...if it's not too much trouble, then I..."

Ita glanced at him, and after their eyes met, she lowered her head.

"Let's stay."
