Chapter 285 The Chaos Wizard
Chapter 285 The Chaos Wizard (Seventh Update)
Behind the gate was not the expected reactor core, but a vast space that had been completely transformed.
The original machinery and pipes were brutally twisted and dismantled, intertwined with some kind of writhing, seemingly living flesh and blood, creating a blasphemous scene.
The air was thick with the stench of blood, ozone, and a sweet, putrid smell.
In the center of the space, a figure wearing a tattered robe was facing away from them.
His left half still barely maintained a human form, while his right half had undergone a horrific mutation—his arm had swelled into a giant claw covered with a chitinous shell, a huge, bloodshot eye protruded from his shoulder, and the skin on his right cheek had peeled off, revealing the twisted, writhing flesh and stark white bones beneath.
He seemed to be busy with something in the center of a complex pattern drawn with blood and parts. When he noticed the gate being broken open, he turned around sharply, and his half-face and half-distorted face showed both fear and resentment.
"Stop him!" Judge Kelas shouted, his explosive pistol already firing.
The Storm Loyalists' molten guns and plasma weapons instantly unleashed destructive light.
However, the Chaos Wizard—or rather, the Fallen One who was transforming into this form—moved with astonishing speed.
He let out a shriek, and with a swipe of his grotesque giant claw, a pink, distorted psionic barrier instantly appeared in front of him, deflecting most of the attacks.
He clearly knew he was no match for this group, especially the oppressive aura emanating from the silent Astartes, which made him want nothing more than to escape.
He turned around and tried to rush towards a large, torn ventilation duct at the back of the space, which seemed to be his pre-prepared escape route.
"Don't even think about it!" The Astartes warrior of the Imperial Fist spoke for the first time, his voice deep and powerful, like the grinding of rocks.
He didn't even use the bomb gun, yet his massive body unleashed a speed disproportionate to his size, like a cannonball, instantly blocking the Chaos Wizard's path. The hum of the chainsaw sword as it spun was filled with a deadly threat.
With Astartes in front and Inquisitors and Stormtroopers behind, there is no way out.
Utter despair and madness filled the half of the Chaos Wizard's face, while the other half of his twisted flesh writhed violently, emitting excited hissing sounds.
"You forced me to this!" he roared in a voice that was a mixture of human language and demonic whispers. "Since I cannot offer it to the great ruler, then I will use it to tear you apart!"
He slammed the grotesque giant claw into the ground beside him—where several fanatical cultists knelt, seemingly waiting there willingly to be sacrificed.
"Open the door with blood and souls as offerings!"
The giant claw instantly tore the bodies of the cultists apart. Instead of splattering blood and internal organs everywhere, they were drawn by an invisible force and flowed into the blasphemous magic circle on the ground.
Accompanied by a tooth-grinding tearing sound and a shriek from the warp, the air in the center of the magic circle was torn apart like cloth, revealing an ominous, copper-rust-colored burning light behind it.
Immediately afterwards, three terrifying creatures leaped out!
They were about the height of a normal person, with skin as red-hot as a branding iron, bulging muscles, sharp claws and hooves, and sheep-like heads that burned with malevolent flames. They wielded flaming brass weapons. Their mere presence filled the air with the stench of sulfur and blood, and a pure, undisguised hatred for all life. “Vampires!” Inquisitor Kelas’s voice was heavier than ever before. “Beware! They are low-ranking demons born for slaughter, fearless and tireless!”
The three vampires let out bloodthirsty howls and, without the slightest hesitation, brandished their burning weapons and launched a frenzied charge towards the Imperial Fist warriors and Storm Loyalists who were closest to them!
Taking advantage of the opportunity, the Chaos Wizard dragged his distorted body and tried to slip away from the side. He wore a cruel and triumphant smile, as if he could already see these obstacles being torn to pieces by his demonic minions.
A real battle, one that Mann and the others had never imagined, suddenly erupted at this moment.
-
The battle erupted instantly, far exceeding any previous experience that Mann and his companions had ever had.
The three-headed vampires let out a deafening, bloodthirsty howl, transforming into three burning red afterimages that rushed towards the crowd with a sulfurous gust of wind.
They just want to tear apart all life in front of them!
The first to be hit were several Storm Loyalists soldiers who were positioned at the front.
Despite their superior equipment, training, and reaction speed far exceeding that of ordinary soldiers, the limits of mortals were laid bare in the face of this supernatural, purely murderous demonic entity.
"Fire!" The squad leader's order had barely left his lips when scorching beams of light and explosive shells rained down on the charging demon.
However, the vampires moved with bizarre speed, using inhuman agility to twist and leap, avoiding most of the direct fire.
One of them withstood the burns from a plasma attack to its shoulder, and the burning decapitation sword brought down with unparalleled power!
With a sharp, tearing sound, the riot shield held by a Storm Loyalist soldier, along with his arm holding the shield, was severed cleanly at the root!
Before he could even scream, the claws of another vampire had already pierced through his neck armor from the side, tearing his throat and spine out together!
Another warrior tried to aim with his molten gun, but was suddenly rammed into the arms of the third vampire. Its burning hooves trampled on his breastplate, and Tao Gang groaned and deformed. The demon lowered its head and bit through the helmet visor, and the screams stopped abruptly.
In just a few seconds, three elite Storm Loyalists warriors fell in pools of blood; their sacrifice only slightly slowed the demons' charge.
The Astartes warrior of the Imperial Fist let out a low growl.
He steadily fired the explosive pistol in his right hand, the explosive bullets whistling as they shot towards the Chaos Wizard who was trying to escape, forcing him to constantly cast psionic barriers to block and preventing him from getting away smoothly.
At the same time, the chainsaw sword in his left hand roared as he met the bloodletting demon that lunged at him.
"For Rogue Dorn!" The chainsaw sword clashed violently with the vampire's burning greatsword, sparks flying and a piercing screeching sound that seemed to tear at the eardrums.
Astartes' power was clearly superior, and a single slash sent the vampire back several steps. But the latter was fearless and immediately charged forward again, roaring, his weapon carrying enough energy to tear through power armor.
This vampire possessed astonishing strength and speed, managing to entangle the powerful Astartes for a short period, preventing him from quickly rushing to its aid.
