Warhammer: The Time Traveler
Chapter 250 Invading the Arasaka Tower
Chapter 250 Invading the Arasaka Tower (Second Update)
However, the Arasaka army was ultimately a well-trained, regular military force.
Following the initial chaos, the battlefield command system quickly completed a tactical reassessment.
The cold, impersonal instructions were transmitted to every combat unit via data link—since wide-area coverage was ineffective, concentrate all forces and attack one point.
The electromagnetic turrets of more than twenty main battle tanks were simultaneously fine-tuned, with their muzzles all pointing towards a servant mech located on the flank of the formation.
Instead of the roar of a salvo, there was a more lethal, continuous barrage – high-speed armor-piercing rounds bombarding the same area of the servant mech's shield with precise frequency.
Almost simultaneously, the threat from above also suddenly intensified.
A Yawata-class armed airship forced its way forward, and the multi-mounted pulse laser turret on its belly no longer fired probing shots, but a continuous beam of energy, like a scorching welding torch pressed firmly against the surface of the pale blue shield.
Even more deadly was an entire swarm of suicide drones that ignored intercepting fire and crashed into the same shield node one after another in a suicidal dive, triggering a series of violent energy explosions.
Faced with this unprecedented, highly coordinated saturation attack, the attendant mech's shield system finally showed its limits.
The originally stable, light blue light curtain began to flicker violently, and the energy ripples in the area under continuous attack became violent and irregular, even bursting out with ominous electric arcs.
The sharp hum of the shield generator overloaded even penetrated the external noise of the battlefield and reached the senses of the mech pilot.
"Warning, Shield No. 4 is overloaded! Structural integrity is decreasing!" Maria noticed the anomaly immediately.
As soon as he finished speaking, the shield of the servant mech that was being targeted by the concentrated fire suddenly dissipated like shattered glass after enduring several seconds of frenzied attacks.
The armor-piercing rounds and rockets that followed hit its body directly!
The continuous saturation attacks eventually exceeded the instantaneous carrying capacity of the shield system.
With a blinding flash of energy and a sharp overload buzzing sound, the pale gold shield of the servant mech vanished abruptly like shattered glass.
The armor-piercing rounds and pulsed laser beams that followed slammed into the mech, but failed to cause structural damage.
After the flames of the explosion subsided, several deep erosion dents and charred impact marks were visible on its thick shoulder armor plates. The surface paint had peeled off under the high temperature, revealing the original metal color underneath, and fine electric sparks briefly danced in the damaged area.
The immense impact caused the machine to stagger backward, and the movement of one arm was slightly sluggish, but its weapon system continued to operate steadily, spewing firepower.
Almost simultaneously, another servant mech was also subjected to a similar concentrated attack, and its shield collapsed.
Several precise hits left noticeable dents and scratches on its leg armor, but the joint structure remained intact; only its mobility was temporarily and slightly affected by the impacts.
This marks the first time since the start of the war that the Arasaka army's offensive has truly touched the physical forms of these otherworldly creations.
However, this all-out attack only left some insignificant scratches on its indestructible armor.
Upon receiving the order, the two damaged attendant mechs immediately retreated, adjusting their firepower to precise intermittent bursts in order to preserve structural integrity.
The melt marks and dents on their armor were particularly noticeable under the illumination of artillery fire, but their core functions remained stable.
Almost at the same moment the attendant mechs retreated, all of Arasaka's army's firepower—the bombardment of electromagnetic cannons, the pulse lasers of airships, and the impact of drone swarms—were poured even more frantically onto the two knight mechs, especially Margaret, who was charging ahead, as if drawn by a magnet.
However, there is a fundamental gap between Knight Mechs and Servant Mechs.
Against the concentrated attacks of the "Lancers," whether it was electromagnetic cannonballs capable of tearing apart the front of a main battle tank or pulsed lasers that continuously scorched, all were steadily deflected and absorbed at the optimal angle by the ion shield under Margaret's exquisite control. She could even control the "Lancers" to instantly switch the energy output mode of the impact lances while maintaining the stability of the shield. A fan-shaped torrent of ions swept across, turning a tank platoon attempting to reload on the flank, along with its position, into charred iron and molten slag.
Maria's "Punisher" held the line, its explosive cannons roaring incessantly, suppressing the airships and armored formations that were trying to advance from afar, pinning them down in a sea of explosions.
Occasionally, a few missiles or suicide drones would slip through the fire net and strike her shield, but they would only create a rapidly subsiding energy ripple, unable to shake her in the slightest.
The Arasaka army realized with despair that even with their best efforts, they could only leave a few scratches on the "smaller" mechs.
Despite exhausting all means to deal with these two true steel behemoths, they couldn't even make the seemingly thin blue light barrier show the slightest sign of weakening.
Their shields seem eternal, their armor insurmountable, and their weapons represent the purest form of destruction.
The technological gap has transformed into a suffocating, insurmountable wall of despair.
Margaret and Maria, like gods walking among men, were bathed in gunfire, yet their steps never faltered.
They rolled over burning tank wreckage and trampled over fleeing soldiers, resolutely advancing towards the tower that symbolized Arasaka's ultimate power—the Arasaka Tower.
The street behind them had become a road of death paved with steel wreckage, solidified lava, and charred corpses, silently testifying to the cruelty of this unequal war. The Tokyo night sky was bathed in a blood-red glow by this sea of fire.

After crushing the shattered defenses of the Arasaka regular army, Margaret and Maria finally reached the foot of Arasaka Tower.
This colossal tower, like a jet-black scepter piercing the sky, is the ultimate embodiment of the ruling will of the Arasaka Empire.
At this moment, the defense system at the bottom of the tower was fully activated: automatic turrets rose from their concealed positions, high-frequency laser fences buzzed in the air, and the last fully-equipped "Oni Warrior" power armor unit stood ready at the entrance.
Even more alarming, the anti-aircraft array atop the tower disregarded the friendly forces still engaged in combat below and began firing downwards at the approaching steel giant, the dense barrage completely covering the area around the tower.
"Clear the outer defenses and establish a secure zone." Margaret's voice rang out in the encrypted channel, calm and composed as always.
The "Lancer" slightly raised his left arm, and the ion shield precisely deflected several particle beams shooting down from high altitude.
“Leave these rabble to me!” Maria responded immediately.
The "Punisher's" explosive cannons roared deafeningly, and a barrage of explosive shells rained down on the weapon platforms on the middle level of the tower, tearing apart the automatic turrets and missile arrays one by one.
Her artillery fire never stopped; the lower-level fortifications crumbled in a series of explosions, engulfing the defenders within in flames.
Although the four attendant mechs were covered in scorch marks and dents, they still provided stable fire support from the rear.
They used precise bursts of fire to eliminate enemy troops attempting to approach from the flanks, ensuring the safety of the main knights' rear.
Margaret maneuvered her "Lancer" forward steadily, each precise volley of her charge silencing a point of fire; each sweeping attack reduced a squad of "Onimusha" to scrap metal. Her every movement was concise, efficient, and swift, existing purely to achieve her tactical objectives.
Arasaka Tower's defense system is indeed impregnable, enough to deter even the world's most elite special forces.
But all of this seemed so fragile in the face of the Knight Mech.
The heavy alloy gate twisted and melted under the ion explosion of the impact lance. Before the security personnel inside could organize an effective resistance, they were completely overwhelmed by subsequent bombs and energy attacks.
"Entrance breached, target: data center," Margaret calmly announced, stepping into the magnificent hall of Arasaka Tower, now reduced to ruins.
