Chapter 249 Killing Sanlang
Chapter 249 Killing Sanlang (First Update)
The execution of the regional purification protocol eliminated the 100-ninja group and all outer defenses with unstoppable efficiency.
Margaret and Maria, piloting the steel giant, traversed the still-smoking scorched earth and molten metal debris, finally arriving at the Arasaka mansion, a blend of traditional and modern styles.
The main gate of the mansion was twisted and torn like a piece of paper by the full-power bombardment of the "Lancer's" charging lance, revealing the luxurious but empty hall inside.
“The scan shows that life signals are concentrated deep underground,” Maria reported. The Punisher’s sensors penetrated layers of structure and locked onto an area protected by a high-intensity energy field.
"Find him, end the mission." Margaret said succinctly, controlling the "Lancer" to be the first to step into the building.
The mecha's heavy footsteps pounded on the marble floor, producing a heart-stopping roar. Wherever it passed, exquisite screens and antique furniture were reduced to dust under its metal limbs.
Any loyal guards attempting a last stand inside the building were utterly futile in the face of the knight mechs' overwhelming size and firepower.
The attendant mechs precisely fired in short bursts, clearing every corner and making way for the main knights.
Following the scanned path, they forced their way through one emergency lockdown door after another, finally arriving at a sealed room deep underground, filled with various life support equipment and monitoring screens.
In the center of the secret room, Saburo Arasaka, the old man who had ruled the Arasaka Empire for nearly a century, was deeply slumped in a specially made life support chair.
He was surrounded by countless tubes, and his aged face looked particularly withered under the cold light of the instrument screen, but in his deep-set eyes, a stubborn and icy rage still burned.
He stared intently at the steel giant that had stormed into his final sanctuary, his lips moving as if he wanted to say something.
Margaret gave him no chance to deliver his last words or activate any unknown contingency plans. The Sage's instructions were clear and absolute—eliminate the target.
The lancer raised his right arm, aiming the tip of his lance at the old man in the chair.
There were no shouts, no announcements, only cold, efficient execution.
A burst of deep blue ionic energy erupted instantly, engulfing the aged figure.
The extreme heat vaporized the life support chair and Saburo Arasaka inside in an instant, leaving no trace. The soul of the Arasaka Empire was utterly annihilated.
“Target cleared,” Margaret reported calmly over the channel.
"Target's vital signs confirmed to have disappeared." Maria verified simultaneously.
However, the mission was not yet over. Chen Yu's instructions explicitly required that they guard against the potential "soul killer" technology that Arasaka might possess, and prevent the uploading of consciousness.
"Next target, Arasaka Tower Data Center," Margaret issued a new order. "Destroy all data storage facilities."
Two knight mechs and six servant mechs quickly withdrew from the structurally unstable Arasaka mansion and returned to the ruins of the estate.
Their sensors all turned toward the center of Tokyo, where the towering Arasaka Tower still stood out against the night and the firelight.
-
Just as Margaret and Maria left the manor ruins and stepped onto the wide main road leading to the city, the distant roar of engines, like muffled thunder, came from afar.
On the horizon, a real army appeared.
After confirming the attack on the manor, and especially the disappearance of Saburo's life signal, the Arasaka Reaction Force's regular troops, stationed around Tokyo, were finally fully activated and deployed.
This is no longer a garrison force confined to the manor or a secret force carrying out special missions, but a regular military unit that the Arasaka Empire can mobilize in its core territory, equipped with the most advanced weapons.
On the ground, rows of sleek main battle tanks formed a wedge-shaped attack formation, their signature single-eye sensors flashing red, their electromagnetic turrets humming low, and their long gun barrels rising in unison, pointing at the distant, mountain-like steel giant.
Heavy armored personnel carriers followed closely behind; even before the hatches were fully opened, one could already sense the grim atmosphere emanating from the soldiers inside.
What truly showcased their technological prowess was the shadow of death looming over the battlefield. Several massive, menacingly designed "Yawata"-class armed airships hovered behind the battlefield like roaring steel behemoths, their missile pods wide open, multi-mounted pulse laser turrets charging and emitting chilling energy fluctuations.
Surrounding them are small attack drones, densely packed like migratory birds, emitting high-frequency buzzes and weaving a three-dimensional firepower network in the air with elusive trajectories, ready to swoop down at any moment to launch a suicide attack or unleash a barrage of micro-munitions.
On the flank of the ground forces, a disturbing force is silently unfolding—Arasaka's latest swarm of bionic robots deployed in actual combat.
They have completely abandoned their human form, presenting a purely killing configuration.
One of them has a low, multi-legged chassis, resembling a metal spider, and climbs and leaps among the ruins with amazing stability, while its rotating machine gun locks onto the steel giant in the distance.
Another design mimics the streamlined structure of a cheetah, with its four-legged body exhibiting explosive sprint speed, and its man-portable missile launcher is ready to fire.
The movements of these mechanical creations are characterized by inhuman precision and synchronization, with their optical camouflage causing their outlines to distort slightly in the air upon activation.
With efficiency and coordination far exceeding that of human soldiers, they spread rapidly along both sides of the street like a deadly tide of metal, their cold sensor arrays constantly scanning the Knight mechs' defensive formation, trying to find frequency weaknesses or structural vulnerabilities in the shield system.
This is the ultimate embodiment of Arasaka's defense system in Tokyo, a destructive force that combines heavy armor, three-dimensional firepower, and intelligent mechanical clusters, with firepower sufficient to turn the core area of a modern city into scorched earth in a very short time.
"Large-scale enemy force detected. Scale... far exceeding previous ones." Maria's voice carried a hint of gravity. Despite her confidence in the Knight Mechs, the pressure remained in the face of such a massive steel torrent.
"Maintain formation and continue the advance." Margaret's orders remained steady, as if the approaching enemy was merely a slightly larger storm. "Support units, protect the flanks. Maria, prioritize eliminating aerial threats and heavy armor."
"understand!"
The battle broke out in an instant.
The Arasaka army had clearly received a death order; without any warning, the first volley of fire had already begun.
In an instant, the area where Margaret and Maria were located was completely engulfed by a series of explosions and towering flames. Scorching air currents rolled in, and shrapnel and shockwaves tore the air apart.
However, this saturation attack, powerful enough to destroy an army, struck the knight's mech's pale blue ion shield, only stirring up more intense and denser energy ripples.
The shield blinked steadily, deflecting and absorbing all attacks, like a rock standing firm in a storm.
The Lancer didn't even stop, and Margaret's superb driving skills were on full display at this moment.
She maneuvered the mech to evade attacks with minimal movement, always positioning the ion shield at the optimal angle to meet the most intense assaults. Although her own energy readings fluctuated, they remained within a safe threshold.
The "Punisher" then began its performance.
Maria steadied her machine, and the Punisher Bomb Cannon emitted a dull, continuous roar.
With each explosive shell fired, a tank's turret was blown off in the distance, or an armored vehicle was turned into a fireball.
The six attendant mechs were also fighting hard.
They formed a mobile defensive line, using laser cannons and heavy explosive rounds to precisely eliminate infantry and light vehicles attempting to approach.
Although their individual shields are not as strong as those of the Knight Mechs, they are still more than capable of handling attacks from conventional light weapons and individual rocket launchers.
The battle situation appears to be a one-sided, crushing victory.
