Chapter 28 Kieslfield (The End)

By the time Mirad carried the exhausted and weak Kissfield to the embassy not far from where the Lescatee mission was stationed, and then returned to his inn, it was already night.

The twin suns in the sky didn't last long; as the magic dissipated, their brilliance gradually dimmed. On his way back to the inn, Mirad could hear people talking about the spectacle of the day.

Thanks to Kissfield, his once clean priest's robes became somewhat damp, especially on the back.

The sticky, damp feeling clinging to the skin lingered, and like the smell, it did not disappear with the removal of the heavy object; instead, it intensified as the night wind blew it away.

Perfect timing, time to wash the clothes... I can also try out the improved laundry magic from later generations...

I pushed open the door, and sure enough, it was there.

Hiolitta was sitting on the bed, her hands supporting her chin, her silver hair obscuring her face.

The succubus's two scarlet eyes stared at him unblinkingly through her hair, her gaze filled with a mixture of sorrow, guilt, and the bitterness of resignation that she had no choice but to accept her fate in order to continue living.

"I've been waiting for you to come home," she said somberly, wiping away tears from the corners of her eyes with a small handkerchief. "I know I haven't spent enough time with you, and it's normal for you to be unhappy... I can forgive you... But next time, please don't come home smelling like another woman, okay? We can still make our lives work out..."

"...?"

The pleasant feeling of exchanging ideas with admirable juniors vanished without a trace. Mirad took a deep breath and tried his best to calm his increasingly turbulent emotions.

"...You and I are just temporary travel companions, occasionally able to talk, each taking what we need, nothing more."

"That day, you were the one who wanted to stay in that locked room with me forever, and you were the one who stole my first kiss, Lord Mirad, why... wait, wait! Lord Mirad, this is an inn, the wooden building can't withstand your blow!"

Sensing that the magic was going awry, Siolitta immediately abandoned her pitiful, resentful woman persona, gliding swiftly to Mirad's side and using all her might to close the man's jaw, interrupting the spellcasting. A fawning, ingratiating smile plastered on her face.
"Wow~ Look, you look a bit tired~ You should rest early, Lord Mirad! Please, a saint doesn't hold grudges against a petty person, let this little fan off the hook! Look at all that sticky sweat and dust on you! How about I wash your clothes for you? I'll make sure they're as good as new~"

Her nose twitched, as if she had caught a whiff of Kissfield's perfume on Mirard, and Siolitta's smile deepened.

"...It's up to you."

With a slight frown and pinching his nose, Mirad knew that if he didn't go along with the succubus, he might not be able to sleep tonight. The noisy, childlike Hyolita would keep him awake all night.

"Hmm~ Then hurry up and take off your clothes, Lord Mirad~ Or would you like your most loyal little maid, Siolitta, to serve you? Eh? Eh? Don't put the stone wall up again..."

Inside the stone wall that concealed him completely, Mirad breathed a sigh of relief.

Is it just my imagination? Why does Hyolita seem unusually difficult to deal with today... just because we were separated for a short while? As a fan, her fervor far exceeds Mirad's imagination.

"You'd better not play tricks."

After handing the dirty clothes to the succubus, Mirad got up and headed to the public bathroom on the first floor of the hotel.

"Wow! Lord Milad smells so good after your bath!"

Sinking into the soft bed, Hiolitta no longer concealed her identity. With her swirling bat wings and long tail, the monster, covered in alien features, rolled around on the bed like a real little girl, leaving her scent behind.

When Mirad returned to his hotel room after taking a shower, this was the scene that greeted him.

His clothes were spotless and untouched, a conclusion Mirad reached after examining them thoroughly. Suddenly, as if struck by a thought, the rolling Siolitta stopped and turned to face Mirad.

"My dear Lady Mirad~" It was still that honey-poisonous voice, languid and gentle, almost seeping into one's bones, "Would you like to hear the precious information that the famous detective Hiolitta obtained from the monster sisters in the city?"

"State your conditions." Mirad casually lifted the blanket and wrapped Hyolitta up like a burrito, lest she suddenly do something outrageous again. She seemed to be able to accept this level of sealing; it wouldn't provoke too much resistance from the succubus.

"A chance to command my dear Lord Mirad to do anything! Of course, it won't be anything too difficult for you, will it?"

Wrapped up in a long strip, with only its round, horned white head sticking out, Hiolitta rolled over to Mirad's side and, before Mirad could react, gently bit his finger as revenge.

"...Your intelligence had better be worth the price."

Wiping the saliva left by Hiolitta off my fingers... How did I become so good at this?

Mirad's feelings were somewhat complicated.

"Honest and fair dealing! If you're not satisfied, you can return it anytime!"

"make a deal."

"Hmm~ Well then, it's time for Siolitta's big information reveal! The information that Lady Mirad was hoping to know is actually... Miss Kissfield's age! She's 19 years old~ A young and beautiful heroine, she's undoubtedly quite reliable as a junior!"

"..."

Calm down, Mirand, calm down.

Clench your fist and then relax it.

"another."

"Oh ho ho ho, it seems even the lady's most closely guarded age isn't enough to satisfy this greedy gentleman. So, what should we reveal next..."

"…Let's get down to business."

"No romance at all! They were supposed to be the subjects of a fierce battle, couldn't you at least get to know them a little better! It took me a lot of effort to get the monsters to help cover up the traces of your fight with that lady, especially since you sent that white-and-red thing into the sky and everyone in the city saw it! My most beloved Lord Mirad actually has this kind of fetish, waaaah… Thinking about it this way, Lord Mirad's perversion level has tripled, no, tenfold…"

Hiolitta started to fake cry, but thankfully she didn't continue, stopping just before the veins on Mirad's forehead bulged.

"Alright, alright, let's get down to business~ Did you know? There aren't just those teleportation arrays in the academy anymore in Elsia City; there are one-way teleportation arrays everywhere. Teleportation arrays from the same starting point… what are the people who drew them planning? That's for you to figure out, Lord Mirad~"

Hiolitta laughed, mocking Mirad.
"Speaking of which, Lord Mirad, you've spent so much time with Miss Kissfield, you must have figured out why she drew the teleportation magic circle within the academy, right? Hmm?"

...I forgot.

Having a long-awaited chat with some capable juniors, the important business I originally planned to do was completely forgotten.

Even Mirad felt a pang of guilt, and his eyes involuntarily darted away!
"Hmm... let's talk about the transfer magic circle you mentioned."
