Chapter 431, Page 429: A Shift in Mindset
The cellar was as familiar as ever.
The locker was full of materials that Sheen had organized.
Speaking of which, the underground spaces of Hogwarts, or cellars, are quite spacious. In the original books, Harry and Ron got lost for a full half hour before finally encountering Malfoy when they tried to sneak into the Slytherin common room.
This place not only has the Slytherin common room, but also Professor Snape's three-piece set of territory.
Potions classroom, fifth underground classroom, and office.
The Potions classroom is where the young wizards have their lessons, while the Fifth Underground Classroom is one of the less frequently used Potions classrooms, which was maintained by Mr. Filch.
From this, Sheen learned once again that Hogwarts used to have many students, otherwise there wouldn't be multiple identical classrooms.
As for Professor Snape's office, that was Sheehan's most frequented place. There he learned about almost all types of potions and various precious potion ingredients.
He has been in charge of organizing and storing these potion ingredients for a long time, and even the task of transporting them from the greenhouse has fallen to him.
If Hermione was planning to steal materials from Professor Snape's office, Sheehan would definitely be the first to discover it.
Now that she was back in the cellar, Sheen felt as familiar as if she were at home.
He quickly took out the materials in a minute and then began preparing to brew today's potion—the Polyjuice Potion.
"Look into my eyes. Have you forgotten something you were supposed to tell me?"
Snape abruptly asked a question.
"You know Lockhart has been arrested?"
Sheen seemed slightly curious.
"Stupid...when?"
Professor Snape remained impassive, his hooked nose standing out prominently in the dim light of the cellar.
"Three days ago, three days and five hours ago."
Sheen added.
"What have you done now?"
Snape's lips curled into a smile, but it quickly fell back, and he turned his sharp gaze to Sheehan.
“It wasn’t me, Professor. His lie has been exposed.”
Sheen spoke the truth.
"Ah--"
Snape laughed dismissively.
If there's anything about Hogwarts that's irrelevant to him, it's that Hogwarts doesn't belong to him.
As for everything else that happened at Hogwarts, more or less, the idea that it had nothing to do with him is pure nonsense.
“You watched him get exposed, you summoned Dumbledore, ha—it really had nothing to do with you.”
Snape's lips curled into a cold smile.
But a sense of comfort slowly settled over him.
Sheen was taken aback. He quickly checked his brain blockade and found that it had not been invaded at all.
In other words, Professor Snape was merely making a reasonable guess.
"I know more than you know."
Snape paused, as if there was something stuck in his throat that he couldn't say.
Finally, his eyes flickered, and he suddenly gave in.
"Next time, you'd better do something stupid by that standard."
Sheen nodded quickly.
Bubbling sounds rose from the crucible, and the viscous liquid swelled into a bubble, which then burst and clung to the inner wall of the crucible.
Snape didn't even lower his head, and quickly began stirring.
Thick black smoke billowed from the crucible, and the decoction sizzled loudly, like a pot of boiling water, vigorously frothing. A second later, it turned an unsightly yellow color.
"Now, add the body parts of the shapeshifter."
Snape said.
He threw a hair into the crucible, and the liquid turned into a transparent white.
Snape was taken aback, and stared at the liquid for a long time without moving.
"Different objects will cause different parts of a liquid to appear."
He gave instructions.
Sheen knew this was a compound decoction, and a rare one at that, nearing completion. He carefully observed the state of the medicine and wrote down some necessary and concise descriptions.
Time passed quickly, and Snape's face was completely obscured in the dim candlelight.
"Is there something you forgot to say?"
His chilling voice rang out along with the cold wind that blew through the wooden door's openwork.
"You... know that Hagrid is going to be a professor of the Magical Creatures Protection course?"
Sheen guessed.
"of course."
Snape said.
Does he know?
he does not know.
But nobody knew he didn't.
The wizard in front of me was a fool who blindly trusted others.
"Hagrid invited me to be a teaching assistant..."
Sheen spoke the truth.
"Huh—teaching assistant?"
Snape interrupted him with a cold expression.
"anything else?"
Sheen fell silent for a moment.
Professor Snape seemed to know something else.
Is it Ravenclaw's destroyed tiara, or Slytherin's locket?
Disappointing—
Snape resignedly forced out a few words from his throat.
“You should understand that there are vast differences between wizards in the magical world. Learn to utilize everything around you, Grimm—”
He quickly threw something. Sheen caught it instinctively.
The torchlight shone into his hand, and he saw the cold object clearly.
The small, shiny gold timer hung on a long, delicate gold chain.
Sheen looked up and could see Professor Snape's calm and composed face.
"When using it, you'd better put away your greedy thoughts."
Remember, each time the hourglass turns, time rewinds by one hour. You have a maximum rewind limit of 5 hours.
What are you waiting for? Memorize everything I said, word for word!
Snape stared at Sheehan, his tone growing increasingly irritated.
When did he start doing such things?
He blamed it all on that thin document, which clearly stated the obligations he was required to fulfill.
"Remember this: magic related to time is extremely unstable, and serious violations of the laws of time can have disastrous consequences."
Ah—for example—a wizard mistakenly kills his past or future self; completely alters a wizard's life trajectory; causes time anomalies, preventing some people who should have existed from ever being born…”
Professor Snape's deep, hoarse voice echoed through the cellar, and what he was saying was hardly pleasant.
"The Ministry of Magic conducts rigorous due diligence on those who are approved to use a Time-Turner."
The Ministry of Magic has enacted hundreds of laws concerning the possession of Time-Turners, while imposing the harshest laws and punishments on the misuse of Time-Turners.
You can only use it if you've memorized every single rule, understand?
Professor Snape seemed to be threatening.
"Understood, Professor."
Sheen carefully put away the time converter; he knew where to find the regulations.
—Hogwarts Library.
But to his surprise, Professor Snape would care about these things.
What courses did you choose?
Snape asked abruptly again.
He had a "what's the use" mentality; since he had already interfered, he might as well go all the way.
