Night Journey

Chapter 66 Love and Chaos

Chapter 66 Love and Chaos
Luxurious crystal chandeliers hung high, long tables were laden with food and wine, and servants stood around, ready to respond to the guests' needs at any time.

After a quick glance, Cillian realized that the cost of this team building activity was not low. Given the nature of the City Guard Bureau, they certainly wouldn't be willing to spend a lot of money to entertain their employees.

"You guys did this?"

Cillian whispered to Mefuni beside him.

“Of course,” Meifuni patted her chest, “only the enthusiastic Centipede Merchant Guild would sponsor the brave warriors who defend the city!”

really.

Ciri looked around. Besides his own task force, several other task forces had also been invited to participate, along with some department heads.

In addition to the city guards, some of the city's dignitaries and people from other supernatural forces were also present.

Rather than a team-building event, it was more like a banquet hosted by the Centipede Merchant Guild, which invited various factions from Hel City.

The arrival of Cillian and the others seemed to be driven by a personal motive of Mefuni.

She was never stingy with her own people, even though Cillian might die in an accident tomorrow.

Where is Valerie?

Cillian looked around, wanting to get rid of this troublesome guy as soon as possible.

“I don’t know,” Mafoni shook her head. “She seems to be late.”

Are you all looking for me?

Suddenly, a familiar yet unfamiliar voice rang out from behind them. Cillian turned around and found the other person standing very close; they almost bumped into each other.

Cillian immediately took a step back, the scent of perfume still lingering around his nose.

"Hello everyone."

Valerie wore a purple dress that revealed her fair neck and back, covered by a black veil, making her look mysterious and alluring.

"Then I won't bother you any longer."

Mefuni didn't give Cillian a chance to speak, blending into the crowd and disappearing.

"We meet again, Cillian."

Valerie stepped forward, holding her wine glass, and teased, "Weren't you avoiding me before? Why are you contacting me this time?"

Cillian's tone was somewhat cold, "I contacted you on my own initiative? I just wanted to resolve unnecessary trouble."

"Oh?"

Valerie moved a few steps closer, and Cillian could even smell the alcohol emanating from her.

"How do you plan to deal with me?"

Valerie extended her fingertips and pressed them lightly against Cillian's chest.

"Sir, would you like some wine?"

One of the waiters thought the two were flirting and asked in a low voice.

“I don’t drink alcohol,” Cillian paused, then said, “but could I have a glass of milk?”

The waiter was puzzled for a moment; it was the first time he had ever heard such a request under these circumstances, but he still obediently agreed.

“Milk?” Valerie chuckled. “Are you a child, Cillian?”

"Strictly speaking, I will only be considered an adult after this year."

Valerie said with a hint of surprise, "I thought you just looked young... You look much more mature than your peers."

The waiter brought over a glass of milk, and Cillian took a sip and held it in his hand.

"Can we get back to the main topic?"

Valerie asked softly, "What do you want to do?"

"To be blunt, I hate you, Valerie."

Cillian said bluntly, "Your advances make me uneasy; I feel you have ulterior motives."

Valerie remained unmoved by such direct words.

"Is that enough, or do I have to say something even more vicious?"

Cillian thought Valerie would turn away, but she remained standing there, smiling at him.

"That's not vicious enough, Cillian. And, I did have ill intentions towards you at first, but... could you give me a moment to explain?"

Despite saying this, Valerie didn't give Cillian a chance to respond. She reached out, grabbed Cillian's hand, and led him away from the crowd.

Upon arriving at a private room, Valerie took off her high heels and nestled into the soft sofa.

The door to the private room was open, and you could see directly into the crowd on the first floor. Laughter and music wafted in without any obstruction.

“That was about a year ago. Mafoni told me that she was working at the City Guard Bureau, so I went to visit her when she got off work.”

In the dim light, Valerie's voice drifted over slowly.

"That was when I first met Dai Lin, and I fell in love with him at first sight."

Even when facing the sinking of the spirit world, Cillian remained calm and composed, but at this moment, he felt immense confusion and bewilderment.

"what are you saying?"

Valerie said without a care, "Unfortunately, after only a few days of pursuing him, I found out that Dalin wasn't interested in me at all, he didn't even look at me, all his attention was on Anya."

Valerie spoke angrily when Anya was mentioned.

"Anya, that bitch!"

Cillian looked embarrassed; things were rapidly spiraling out of control.

“Anya used to be a lowly dancer, moving among men. By chance, she became a torchbearer and got the life she has now.” Valerie clenched her fists and cursed, “But this kind of person has Dalin completely infatuated with her. Even though he knows her past, he still pursues her relentlessly… even though Anya doesn’t care about him at all.”

Cillian covered her ears, completely unwilling to get involved in this complicated office romance.

But he still asked the question without thinking, almost unconsciously.

"and then?"

"Then I became Anya's enemy and opposed her at every turn."

Valerie stopped acting and sat cross-legged on the sofa, not caring whether she was exposing herself or damaging her image.

"The reason I was so enthusiastic towards you before was because Anya cared about you a lot and was very interested in you."

Valerie took a big gulp of wine and casually said, "She even secretly investigated you, when you bought things at the Centipede Merchant Guild."

The words were like a bucket of cold water poured over Cillian's head.

Cillian didn't believe Anya was interested in him as Anya claimed; she seemed more wary of him.

why?
"I'm sorry, Cillian."

Valerie clasped her hands together and bowed, saying, "I was very enthusiastic towards you at first, simply because I wanted to disgust Anya."

Cillian cautiously moved to the side.

"Now, I'm starting to really like you."

Valerie took a deep breath and said drunkenly.

“Cillian, you are different from other men.”

The familiar sentence structure made Cillian shift his position again.

"Why are you so afraid of me? Am I not your type, or do you already have someone else in your heart?"

Valerie moved even closer, almost pressed against Cillian.

Cillian replied calmly, "I don't know what to say."

"Haha, you really seem like a little kid at a time like this."

Valerie laughed and nestled against his chest.

Cillian could feel Valerie's body temperature and hear her breathing; a certain atmosphere fermented between the two, rising in the narrow box.

"Don't be nervous, Cillian. I know very well what kind of person I am. My feelings for you are only temporary. Maybe the day after tomorrow, I will be madly in love with someone else."

Valerie loosened Cillian's collar and began to stroke his chest.

"But it's okay, people live in the present, and being satisfied with the present is enough."

Valerie felt something poke her, stopped what she was doing, and said in a teasing tone.

"what."

Cirien said calmly.

"My sword."

"Haha, you rascal, your sword... how come it really is a sword?"

Valerie, no longer drunk, looked at Cillian as if he were a lunatic.

"I am a staff member of the city garrison, so it is normal for me to carry a weapon."

Cillian held the Boiling Sword horizontally in front of him, like a boundary, keeping Valerie's passion at bay.

“But it’s in the way,” Valerie said, her gaze softening with affection. “Could you make an exception for me?”

Cillian shook his head firmly.

"I reject."

In the past, Cillian was always accompanied by weapons, but only once did he abandon them to dance with the girl he loved, but disaster struck immediately.

For Cirion, the blade was not just a weapon, but a symbol, as if by gripping the sword, Cirion could grasp his own destiny.

"It's a pity... but it's okay."

Valerie's bra strap slipped down, revealing a large expanse of skin, and she raised her hand to close the door to the private room.

"I really like your pretentious act." She almost kissed Cillian on the cheek. "It's very alluring and makes me want to conquer you."

Valerie said, unbuttoning her clothes and revealing her body without reservation.

"Cillian, you'd better be strong. If I conquer you too easily, I'll throw you away like trash."

Cillian scrutinized Valerie's body from top to bottom until his gaze lingered on a certain spot, unable to look away.

Seeing this, Valerie chuckled triumphantly.

"You really are a child."

She held Ciri with one arm and gently stroked her left breast with the other, just where Ciri's gaze lingered.

"Well, isn't it beautiful?"

Valerie's fingertips scratched her skin. A rose tattoo was embroidered on her lower left breast, its vibrant and beautiful colors adding an even more alluring and enigmatic touch to her already captivating charm.

Do you want to kiss it?

Valerie tempted him, reaching out to press her hand against Cillian's chest.

She expected to hear the boy's frantic heartbeat, but all she heard in response was his steady breathing.
