Winter Lord: Starting with Daily Intelligence
Chapter 107 Mr. Calvin's Kind Heart
Chapter 107 Mr. Calvin's Kind Heart
The guards didn't give them much time to linger, letting them directly into the castle and up to the banquet hall on the third floor.
A young figure sat in a high position, his aura calm and composed.
That was Louis, younger and more handsome than they had imagined.
A hint of jealousy and malice flashed in Vera's eyes, but on the surface she wore a smile and was about to start a greeting.
But before he could finish speaking, the guard said, "Make your move!"
Almost simultaneously, more than a dozen elite Red Tide knights burst out from the hall, the roof, and the surrounding area, moving as fast as beasts that had been poised to pounce.
The female leader felt a sudden chill and instinctively reached for the dagger hidden at her waist.
However, just as her hand touched the hilt of the knife, she felt a sudden pain in her left wrist!
A short sword flashed with cold light and struck her wrist joint accurately, causing her entire arm to go numb.
At the same time, three elite knights pounced on her from the left and right, pressing their knees heavily against her knee joints, causing her to lose her balance and fall to the ground.
Another Snow Oathbringer was not to be outdone, and struggled with a low growl, but as soon as he moved, he was struck on the back of the neck with a hand chop, and collapsed to the ground.
As for Vera, before he could even speak, his wrist was twisted with a cracking sound, and he was forced to the cold stone floor, unable to move.
In just three seconds, the three were completely subdued and knelt down in front of Louis.
Vera, pinned to the ground, gritted her teeth and roared, "Lord Louis! I came to deliver a gift to you! A great gift, right outside the city! Why are you treating me like this?!"
The voice echoed in the empty conference hall, carrying a hint of hysterical sharpness.
Louis looked down at him, a half-smile on his face, and said, "Gifts? You mean... those thirty-odd Snowsworn?"
Vera's heart clenched upon hearing this, and her face turned deathly pale.
Louis continued unhurriedly, "Don't worry, I've already received it. However, my knights went to pick it up themselves, so you don't need to deliver it personally."
A few simple words pierced Vera's heart like a knife.
He could no longer maintain his composure; his pupils contracted sharply, and his voice trembled as he asked, "How...how is this possible...?"
He subconsciously glanced at the female leader of the Snow Oath, assuming that the Snow Oath had leaked the information.
The female leader also looked at him coldly, her eyes full of mockery and suspicion.
The scene became tense for a moment.
Louis leaned back in his high-backed chair and smiled slightly, "Don't guess, the Dragon Ancestor told me in his dream yesterday."
Vera stood frozen in place, her mind buzzing.
Then he finally realized that the Snow Oath Warriors had all been wiped out.
Otherwise, Louis wouldn't be here chatting and laughing with them.
He trembled and immediately knelt down, kowtowing heavily: "Lord Louis, Lord Sheriff, spare my life! I... I was coerced! I deliberately lured the Snowsworn into a trap, truly! I am loyal to you!"
Before he could finish speaking, Louis waved his hand and said, "Shut him up, he's too noisy."
The Red Tide Knight stepped forward, grabbed Vera by the hair, and roughly shoved the cloth into his mouth.
The conference room finally fell silent.
Louis then turned to the aloof and beautiful female leader: "I have a question for you. If you answer me, I can let you go."
The female leader stared at him coldly, without saying a word.
Louis wasn't annoyed and asked the question he'd always wanted to know: "What exactly are you Snowsworn sacrificing?"
The air seemed to freeze.
A hint of shock flashed in the female leader's eyes, but she remained silent.
Louis waited a few seconds, then slowly stood up and straightened his sleeves.
"It seems you won't answer either," he said softly, yet with the air of final judgment. "Drag them all outside and kill them. Don't ruin this newly built castle."
The knights responded respectfully and began to drag the three men away.
Vera struggled wildly with her legs, leaving trails on the ground.
He tried to beg for mercy, but his mouth was already gagged, so he could only stare at Louis with pitiful eyes. But Louis didn't look at him; he just turned to look at the scenery outside the window.
Alas, Mr. Calvin was too kind-hearted to bear seeing such things.
The three were quickly dragged away and taken outside the castle.
Blood splattered on the frozen ground, and after a short scream, the world fell silent again.
After dealing with this little farce, Louis decided to personally check on the capture of the fireback turtle, just in case something unexpected happened along the way.
However, he still felt some regret. He had originally wanted to extract information from the female leader of the Snow Oath, but he had failed.
The intelligence system occasionally reports on nobles being captured by the Snowsworn to be sacrificed, but the exact purpose of these sacrifices has never been detailed.
Louis had always been curious about this, but unfortunately he couldn't get the answer this time.
"Never mind, I'll see if I encounter the Snowsworn again next time." Louis sighed slightly and strode towards the Fireback Turtle hunting grounds.
They had barely stepped out of the castle when they saw Lambert leading a group of people hurriedly approaching.
Upon closer inspection, they turned out to be the group of useless nobles who had been tied up.
The leader was Viscount Firth.
Upon seeing Louis appear, the disheveled nobles immediately knelt down, expressing their gratitude and repeatedly saying, "Thank you, sir, for saving our lives!"
Louis frowned. He hadn't expected that this group of people would be captured by the Snowsworn, and that none of them would die.
There are some problems, but thankfully not many.
He casually instructed, "Just dispose of it."
As the words fell, the air seemed to freeze for a moment.
The faces of the nobles who had been brought in drained of color instantly.
Some were pale-faced, knelt on the ground, and desperately kowtowed, begging for mercy.
Some roared and cursed at Louis, shouting about their status and position.
Others simply stared blankly at Louis, their eyes filled with disbelief.
They simply couldn't comprehend that this young lord would actually say such a thing.
I thought I had heard it wrong.
But Louis had already started walking away, and after a few steps, he suddenly stopped.
Viscount Firth's eyes lit up, thinking that Louis was just trying to scare them and wanted to see them make a fool of themselves.
That southern barbarian is wicked.
But the next second, Louis said calmly, "By the way, make it clean and fake that it was done by the Snowsworn."
His words were as calm as if he were instructing a chef to kill a chicken.
The nobles finally understood.
Louis wasn't joking, nor was he trying to intimidate them; he genuinely wanted them dead, as if the lives of these nobles were worthless.
He! How dare he!
Despair washed over their faces like a tidal wave.
Some collapsed to the ground, pleading incessantly, while others cursed wildly...
Lambert nodded and said, "Yes, ma'am, I'll handle it!"
Then, intermittent screams soon rang out behind Louis.
Alas, Mr. Calvin is kind-hearted and cannot bear to hear such things.
He quickened his pace.
