Mystery: The Last Shepherd
Chapter 110 The Adventures in the Downtown
Chapter 110 The Adventures in the Downtown
On this day, Melissa Moretti was deeply shocked.
She was just out having fun with friends when they were surrounded by thugs and nearly killed. Her seemingly beautiful and delicate neighbor turned out to be incredibly agile, easily defeating the thugs who pounced on her in the blink of an eye.
Through the gaps in the crowd, Melissa saw Cecilia wearing a hooded cloak and carrying a bulging paper bag, as if she were returning home after shopping. Standing at the entrance of the alley, the afternoon sun shone on Cecilia's delicate features, bathing her entire body in a warm hue, making the scene look like an oil painting by a master.
Melissa had always been enamored with steam and machinery, completely lacking any appreciation for art. Yet, even someone as oblivious as her had to admit that this scene was truly beautiful. However, the thugs who quickly surrounded her ruined the beauty of the scene, causing Melissa's heart to clench tightly.
Run!
She shouted in her heart.
But the next moment, she saw Cecilia, beautiful as a figure in a painting, suddenly raise her pale fist and strike with lightning speed, accurately and fiercely hitting the throats of several thugs who had surrounded her. They immediately showed expressions of pain, clutching their necks and slowly collapsing.
The atmosphere in the secluded alleyway fell silent for a moment.
The villains and the three girls were stunned.
Melissa was astonished, and Selena's mouth involuntarily opened slightly.
"Amazing"
Elizabeth's big eyes sparkled as she spoke in a childlike, exaggerated tone.
"what!"
"Damn it!"
"Don't run!"
"I can't see!"
Cecilia's figure moved gracefully through the crowd. Her movements were swift and light; whether throwing a punch, kicking, or kneeing, she always managed to strike the thugs' vital points precisely. The thugs' attacks, however, were always a step behind her, only landing futilely on the afterimages behind her.
A dozen seconds later, the group of thugs who had just been swaggering around were lying on the ground, clutching their eyes, groins, or throats, howling in pain, unable to get up.
Under the surprised and awe-inspiring gazes of the three girls, Cecilia brushed off non-existent dirt from her clothes, picked up the paper bag again, and looked at them. "Come on over here, what are you waiting for?"
Melissa and her two companions snapped out of their daze and carefully bypassed the thugs groaning and rolling on the ground before running to their side.
Wow, you're amazing!
Elizabeth rushed to Cecilia and praised her sincerely.
"Thank you, Cecilia."
Melissa said with lingering fear.
If it weren't for this neighbor's sudden appearance and rescue, the three of them might have faced unimaginable horrors today.
Cecilia smiled politely.
"Get out of here first."
she says.
After leaving the alley and returning to the lower street, the three of them finally relaxed as they walked on the muddy and dirty road and listened to the noisy sounds of people.
"Melissa, won't you introduce this powerful and beautiful lady to us?"
Elizabeth finally calmed her excited emotions and eagerly looked at her friend to ask.
“She’s Cecilia Rondor, my neighbor. Our brothers work at the same company,” Melissa said, glancing at the girl beside her. Before today, her knowledge of Cecilia was limited to the points mentioned above; she had no idea that this beautiful girl possessed such formidable skills.
By the way, Klein said that she seems to have taken a leave of absence from school recently. Apparently, someone at school is bullying her. She's so strong, how could anyone bully her?
"Hello Cecilia, my name is Elizabeth. You're so strong! How can I become as strong as you?"
Elizabeth asked with a mixture of curiosity and envy.
"I'm not that strong, I just learned some self-defense skills from my brother."
Cecilia laughed, then her expression turned slightly serious after a moment. "Also, don't go down to the street so casually in the future. It's too dangerous for you there."
"Ok."
The group nodded obediently.
They walked forward together for a while and reached the center of Iron Cross Street. From here on, they were truly outside the lower street area.
"You're safe here. I have something to attend to, see you next time."
Cecilia said goodbye to the three of them and turned to go somewhere else.
"She's so cool."
Elizabeth watched her retreating figure and sighed.
Selena nodded repeatedly in agreement.
As for Melissa, after calming down, she suddenly had a question. Cecilia wouldn't let them go down to the street, so what reason did she have to be there?
"You damn bitch! Don't let me catch you!"
In the alley down the street, the leader, leaning against the wall, walked towards his home. That afternoon, not only had he failed to make any money, but he'd also been beaten. After barely managing to get up in the alley, they had no choice but to go home temporarily, let their injuries heal, and then make further plans.
He cursed the woman who had caused the trouble, struggling to move forward. His gang of henchmen, angered by his failure, refused to help him home, leaving him to walk slowly on his own.
As he approached his lodgings and could finally lie down to rest, a hint of joy crept into his eyes.
Just then, a gleaming blade flashed from the shadows around the corner.
A dagger had pierced his heart.
"Hehe."
The leader's eyes widened as he saw the arm extending from behind the dagger, and a hooded woman. The calm face beneath the hood belonged to the very person he had just been cursing.
His strength was rapidly draining away, and he was unable to resist. He could only retreat along with the force of the other's arm, falling into a sewage pit beside the alley. This pit, filled with human and animal excrement and all kinds of garbage, quickly submerged his body. The filthy muddy water washed over his frozen, terrified face, completely engulfing him.
Cecilia held the paper bag and watched calmly until the other person's body had indeed sunk to the bottom before turning and walking outside.

“I heard a magnificent voice from the assembly, saying, ‘Behold, the curtain of the Lord has descended upon the world. He will be with them, He will be their God, He will bear their sins.’”
Holding the human-skin holy book, Luze softly recited the prayers written in ancient Hermes. His expression was calm, but his tightly furrowed brows and occasional twitches revealed that he was actually not feeling well.
Intense pain pounded in his brain, and terrifying, insane babbling echoed in his ears constantly. He forced himself to endure it until the sound of the ocean waves began. The babbling subsided slightly, but then even more bizarre sights appeared before his eyes.
