Mystery: The Last Shepherd

Chapter 108 Ms. M's True Purpose

Chapter 108 Ms. M's True Purpose

"what is this?"

Lu Ze looked at the booklet that Ms. M handed him and frowned as he asked.

At this moment, he was filled with suspicion and wariness. Ms. M had been hiding in his house and had never left. Now she had suddenly gone out quietly, and he wondered what she was up to in secret—since drinking that bottle of red liquid, her injuries seemed to have stabilized, and she could move around more frequently.

"The Lord's Holy Scriptures".

Ms. M said, "Reading it through will help you digest the magic of 'The Listener' more quickly."

Are you suggesting I read cult texts about a real creator?

What a joke!
"No need, I think it's fine to digest it slowly like this."

Lu Ze refused.

During this time, he had already played the role of listener, using the ability to "listen" several times. These included both active attempts and passive reception. For example, he risked everything to pray to the Hidden Sage and received a large amount of knowledge forcibly instilled in him, and he inadvertently heard what sounded like the whispers of the "Primordial Witch" from the bone statue.

Although these processes were incredibly exciting, thanks to these evil gods, his potion was being digested rapidly. Once he figured out the key to playing the listener, perhaps in another two or three months, the potion would be fully digested.

However, Lu Ze had to admit that the path of the Secret Prayer was truly insane. If it weren't for the illusory sound of the ocean waves protecting him, he probably would have already suffered a mental breakdown and become a monster under the influence of the various hidden voices.

But Ms. M was unwilling to wait.

"I don't think you have the right to refuse."

She said with a smile.

"What do you mean?"

"It means that if you don't agree, I'll kill your sister."

Ms. M stated succinctly and clearly.

".!"

Lu Ze froze instantly, watching as she placed the Human Skin Holy Book in her hand and walked to the coat rack.

Seemingly for convenience, Ms. M wore a men's style black coat and black trousers today, exuding a charm reminiscent of a woman dressed in men's clothing. However, after removing the coat that covered her body, the curves that made her white shirt look full and shapely, along with her slender and toned legs, truly showcased her feminine beauty.

However, her appearance did not impress Lu Ze at all; instead, it disgusted him immensely.

Ms. M turned back to the sofa, crossed her rounded legs, and clasped her hands together. Between her fair fingers, the delicate rose ring was a vibrant red.

"Within a week, digest the 'Listener' potion, and then continue your advancement."

Her golden eyes scrutinized Lu Ze. "Do you understand?"

".Understood."

Lu Ze lowered his eyes.

"That's good."

Ms. M smiled gently, "Then what are you waiting for? Hurry up."

Lu Ze, clutching the so-called holy book in his hand, took a few steps and suddenly said, "Why are you so concerned about my promotion?"

Despite the deep-seated hatred between them, Ms. M, after arriving at their home, seemed to be subtly pushing Lu Ze towards a higher level of power, her control over her sister appearing to be a means to threaten him. Ms. M had already offered two other reasons before, but they were clearly just empty words. What exactly was it about him that made her so covetous?
Is that the sound of the ocean waves?
Or is it some inexplicable connection between me and the true Creator?

Ms. M smiled gently. She didn't answer, but instead tapped the sofa lightly.

"Well!"

Intense pain surged from his internal organs; it was the flesh and blood she had left inside Lu Ze that was causing him continuous agony. Lu Ze collapsed to the ground, his handsome face deathly pale. He groaned and trembled, his fingers gripping the holy book so tightly that it creaked.

A moment later, Ms. M leaned back on the sofa. The pain receded like a tide, leaving Lu Ze completely exhausted and sweating profusely.

“Pick up the Bible and begin to read.”

He heard Ms. M's faint voice.

"it is good."

Lu Ze caught his breath, got up, took the holy book, and sat down in the corner of the sofa.

Unfolding the manual, the pages inside were the same soft, yellowed texture as the cover, carrying an ancient feel. Written in ancient Hermetic script, the pages contained poetic sentences that resembled some kind of religious text, praising the greatness of "the Lord."

"Don't read it silently, read it aloud."

Ms. M continued to offer reminders.

She leaned closer to Lu Ze, seemingly looking forward to it.

Lu Ze's ears twitched as he heard the sounds coming from her body—her wounds were tearing and healing, and the sounds seemed to be louder than when she had just drunk the red liquid.

It's probably because her injury can only be stabilized for a period of time, which is why she's in such a hurry.

Lu Ze had a guess in his mind.

So, is she so concerned about me because she's planning to devour me and gain a new body?
But this is still strange. Logically, the messengers of the Aurora Society are fanatical believers in the true Creator, completely disregarding their own lives for Him. In Port Engmat, she could certainly be described as a fanatical believer, but now she doesn't seem like that. She hasn't worn a white robe in a long time, and she hasn't prayed to the true Creator anymore.
Lu Ze's mind raced, but he didn't have much time to think. Ms. M was watching right beside him, so he could only grit his teeth and begin reciting the words.

"In the beginning, the Lord returned from chaos."

boom!
His head felt like it was exploding, making a loud noise. Warm liquid quickly flowed from his nose; without a doubt, he was having another nosebleed.

What the hell is this?
Lu Ze thought with lingering fear, looking up at Ms. M, only to find that she was still smiling and watching him.

"keep going."

She said it gently but with an undeniable authority.

That damn crazy woman
Unable to suppress a curse, Lu Ze could only continue reciting in Ancient Hermes, following the path he had broken off earlier:
"The Lord said, 'Let there be light in the heavens and the earth.' And there was light."

With each word he read, his brain felt like it had been hit hard by a hammer; his vision quickly blurred, and his ears rang constantly.

However, as he read on, he discovered that it seemed to be a story about the original creator creating the world.

In this world, there is also a creation myth: a primordial creator created all things and transformed them into the world, from which seven gods were born, and history began its era. A similar account can be found in the Church of Goddess's sacred text, the *Revelation of the Night*.

Could this "bible," which appears to be made of human skin, be a history written by the Aurora Society from their perspective?
Why is this thing so harmful? I just read about it, and my head felt like it had been hit by a car.
As Lu Ze read, his consciousness became somewhat blurred. He felt as if he heard strange murmurs in his ears, and his vision was gradually enveloped by hallucinations.
