Chapter 141 Rain

Chapter 141 Rain (10k)

Although Gavin wasn't an agronomy graduate, just from the word "agronomy," he could guess what an agronomy master's degree holder could do.

Gavin certainly wouldn't be so extravagant as to have someone with an agronomy master's degree farm the land, but whether it's identifying crop diseases and pests, selecting and cultivating crop seeds, building intelligent agricultural machinery production lines, or cross-improving livestock, etc.

These abilities are probably the essential skills that an agricultural science master's student needs to master!
See? Even just making basic guesses about these skills, Gavin couldn't help but start to look forward to it.

If Hela's brother is really still alive, then the significance he could bring to the camp would be immense!

Suddenly, Gavin's gaze toward Hela became fervent.

Meeting Gavin's eager gaze, Hela stared blankly for a moment before suddenly slapping her forehead.

"Damn it!"

She cursed herself, then continued speaking with a sullen expression.

“You’re right, Gavin. I should have brought this up sooner. I was being a bit idealistic. I should have been more pragmatic, God.”

As soon as she finished speaking, Hela rubbed her face in frustration, but then she rallied and changed her expression from frustration to excitement.

She gripped the back of the driver's seat and spoke to Gavin expectantly.

"But it's not too late for you to know this now, Gavin, and the more this is the case, the more it highlights that you and your men have hearts of gold!"

"A heart of gold?!"

Hearing this, Adriana couldn't hold back any longer and rolled her eyes at Hela.

"Hey girl with the really good grades, are you sure Eugene has a heart of gold? You mean that redhead who was jumping around trying to abandon your brother, haha, a heart of gold?"

Adriana retorted sarcastically, but her words only elicited a slight nod from Hela.

In response to Adriana's taunts, Hela gave a solemn reply.

"I'm an education major, my friend, so I'm particularly good at discovering golden minds. At least until I'm assimilated into a pedant by my colleagues, my eyes can still see them!"

"Although that Mr. Eugene seems a bit irritable and ruthless, can't you see the concern for you hidden beneath his ruthlessness towards me?"

"Especially concerned about Gavin!"

At this point, Hela let out a sigh of relief, then patted Gavin on the shoulder and smiled.

“Gavin, you have a great team. I’m glad to see such a team in the apocalypse.”

"Before my brother and I heard your broadcast, we discussed what the future would look like in the night. Although we still had some hope for the future, we both agreed that the future world would probably end up like Mad Max."

"But your appearance has given me a glimmer of hope, Gavin. Your team appeared too quickly and came together too quickly. It's clear that the pressure of the apocalypse has accelerated the team's integration."

“I guess that apart from you, it’s probably very difficult to find any non-military medium-sized teams of more than ten people in the whole United States in the past week.”

"Although Mr. Eugene was very rude to me, it was just his wariness of strangers. It was not only not a flaw, but could even be considered a strength."

"And what we education students excel at is discovering strengths!"

At this point, Hela turned to Adriana and gave her a bright smile.

That smile made Adriana purse her lips uncomfortably. She disliked Hela more and more because Hela's smile stung her heart!
So she took a deep breath, then glanced at him sideways and spoke sarcastically.

"Tsk tsk, you really know what you're talking about. I thought you education majors could only educate elementary school kids, and you can't even handle student bullying, pshaw~"

"Hehe, ma'am, believe me, there's a child inside everyone, and you're no exception~"

Despite Adriana's taunts, Hela remained calm and continued speaking softly to Adriana.

"Moreover, the bullying phenomenon... I admit that this is a problem that the education sector will never be able to solve, after all, even teachers are only participants in the children's minds, not the participants."

"However, even though bullying continues to occur in the world, I firmly believe that there are at least some teachers who will do their best to help their children in their profession."

"At least for now, I still hold this belief. So before I am corrupted by life, I am at least one educator still dedicated to mediating and curbing bullying!"

As Hela spoke, her eyes were filled with reverence, but after a brief moment of reverence, her gaze suddenly lost focus, and she shook her head regretfully.

"It's a pity that our world is about to disappear. I... I thought just a few days ago that I would never have the chance to get closer to my ideal again."

"But thankfully I met you all. God, as long as we humans can still form teams and band together to survive in the apocalypse, I think every team will need at least one educator."

"Because whether it's knowledge or experience, especially worldview and values, those things not only require the guidance of camp members, but also the serious attention of educators dedicated to imparting knowledge!"

"So, Gavin, and everyone who saved me, I'm already looking forward to my future work!"

"I swear, I promise I will do my best and never change my original intention!"

After saying that, Hela solemnly raised her left hand and made a vow gesture.

In the front seat, Gavin nodded slightly, then looked at Hela with satisfaction through the rearview mirror.

In the current camp, there is actually no room for educators like Hela to exert their influence, since the knowledge that the camp needs to impart at present is all knowledge that can be applied to various actions.

Eugene can teach people how to maintain guns, how to snipe, and even how to steal cars.

Steve can teach people to ride horses and take charge of various jobs on the farm.

However, this doesn't count as education; it's more like the integration of knowledge, and everyone is learning from each other.

Everyone can teach each other, but if you ask them to specifically teach children, then it's not just not teaching according to aptitude, but simply teaching according to talent.

In other words, the kind of students a teacher produces will likely be similar to the kind of students they produce.

If Eugene were to become a teacher, could he possibly raise a child like Nikita?
Gavin would be fucking thankful if his students didn't use three "fucks" in an average sentence.

And the children, including Lao Feng's children and Winnie, really need at least one professional teacher to guide them!
Old Feng, who was standing nearby, had obviously thought of this problem as well. So, after he learned that Hela had a Bachelor of Education degree, his expression became unconsciously enthusiastic.

It felt just like a parent meeting a teacher, with a hint of obsequiousness.

At this moment, Old Feng finally couldn't help but turn around and ask Hela in a slightly obsequious manner.

"Miss Hela, the person I admire most in my life is my teacher. May I ask what subject you teach?"

"Uh……"

Hearing this, Hela was unusually embarrassed. She shook her head in distress and said softly.

“I’m still a student, and it will be another six months before I get my degree. Besides, the teacher’s certificate I obtained is only at the K6 level.”

"But don't worry, since higher-level teacher certification exams require classroom recordings as a criterion for evaluation."

"As for me, since I haven't graduated and started working yet, I only have the internship video of the simulated classroom. That's why I only got to K6, because K6 is the highest level that can be achieved in the simulated classroom."

"As for the subjects I teach, I passed K6 exams in reading and writing, but I'm also quite good at math. I also minored in educational psychology, which can help children with some psychological adjustment. Although studying a lot can be a bit tiring, thinking about my future children makes it not tiring."

"So, does this gentleman have children at the camp? Judging from your appearance, you seem to be a parent of some of my mentor's Asian children!"

"Ah this..."

Upon hearing Hela's question, Old Feng became unusually shy, nodding in response.

"Professor Schultz, you can just call me Feng. I'm the camp's administrative staff and second cook, a reliable subordinate of Boss Gavin, and I do have a son who's about two years old."

At this point, Lao Feng couldn't help but purse his lips.

He had figured out the situation. As long as Hela wasn't a fraud, and hadn't set a trap for them.

Once Lahaila enters the camp, I'll definitely have to beg them for my son's sake!

Although Hela studied education and is a natural-born teacher, there are no schools in the current post-apocalyptic world, and Gavin won't be paying teachers any salaries for the time being, right?
So whether someone is willing to tutor their son depends on two factors: firstly, whether Gavin has arrangements for a camp school, and secondly, whether Hela is willing to put in the effort to teach the child.

Besides, even if Gavin orders Hela to teach classes, whether or not she teaches with dedication is ultimately up to Hela herself!

With that in mind, Lao Feng's attitude naturally improved.

In his words to Hela, he unconsciously emphasized his own identity, hoping to attract Hela's attention.

Upon hearing this, Hela became quite interested, so she asked Lao Feng, the office staff, about the camp's personnel configuration.

Old Feng chatted earnestly with Hela.

In the driver's seat, I watched as Lao Feng used one flowery phrase after another to flatter Teacher Haila until she blushed.

Gavin shook his head with amusement.

Thank goodness it's not the end of the world, otherwise, Lao Feng, would you be sending a car to Teacher Hela?
It must be admitted that people in East Korea place great importance on the education of teachers and children.

With the two of them chatting back and forth, the car remained anything but quiet.

But this is just right, since it's the middle of the night and it's best to talk a lot when driving at night. Otherwise, if everyone is too sleepy to keep their eyes open, it would be terrible if some special situation came up.

Gavin listened to Lao Feng's comedic interlude for Hela for almost forty minutes before stopping his car in front of a road sign, opening the window and shining his flashlight on it.

"Boss, where are we? How much longer?"

In the passenger seat, Lao Feng asked Gavin a question.

Gavin took out a cigarette, lit it, and answered softly.

"We've left the farm area. Next, turn southwest onto two more roads, and it'll be about 65 kilometers to Otwood..."

tick...

tick...

Gavin suddenly stopped talking, and his eyes couldn't help but look towards the car's windshield.

Just now, a few raindrops fell straight down from the sky, landing on the car with a crisp sound.

Hearing the sound of rain, Lao Feng in the passenger seat couldn't help but frown. He looked at Gavin with slight concern and said...

"Boss, it looks like it's raining. We need to hurry."

"Holy crap...it's raining! That's not a good sign, boss. We might have to turn back!!!"

In the back seat, Adriana suddenly couldn't help but curse.

As Adriana cursed, Hela's expression turned terrible. She twisted her hands together and spoke with difficulty to Gavin.

"Boss Gavin, it's raining. How about... how about we find somewhere to take shelter?"

"What's the matter?"

Hearing the conversation between the two people in the back row, Lao Feng looked at them with incomprehension, especially at Hela.

Hela was so eager to save her brother just a moment ago, but now, after a few raindrops, she suddenly suggests postponing the rescue.
With doubts lingering, Old Feng continued to look at Gavin, whose calm expression seemed to be shrouded in a slight gloom under the dim light of the tobacco.

Watching the rain fall on the road, Gavin exhaled a heavy puff of smoke, then explained to Lao Feng.

“Feng, you’re not from Texas, so you’ve never been afraid of the rain in Texas.”

"But we native Texans know all too well how terrible the rain in Texas is, fucking!"

After cursing, Gavin took a deep drag on his cigarette and then threw the butt away.

He slammed his foot on the car door and then addressed the people inside.

"The good news is that our vehicle is very heavy, it's an armored vehicle, so if we don't encounter a super-large tornado, there shouldn't be any problems."

"tornado?!!"

Upon hearing this, Old Feng was completely stunned, and he asked Gavin in bewilderment.

"Boss, it's just a little rain, how does it relate to tornadoes? There aren't that many tornadoes, I've never seen one in my entire life!"

"what?"

As soon as Lao Feng finished speaking, Adriana in the back seat couldn't help but widen her eyes and ask.

"What kind of wonderful place do you live in, Feng? I simply cannot imagine how a person could not see a tornado!"

"Why should I see a tornado? Is that something that happens all the time?"

Old Feng answered as a matter of course, and then he was met with two pairs of surprised and envious eyes.

Noticing the gazes of the two people in the back seat, Lao Feng paused for a moment, then couldn't help but swallow and say something.

"Well... cough cough, tornadoes aren't very common in Texas, are they?"

"Let me answer you, buddy. Tornadoes are incredibly common in Texas from March to May. Almost everyone has seen one. In fact, Texas has a lot of professional storm chasers who enjoy documenting tornadoes in different areas!"

In the driver's seat, Gavin frowned as he drove, explaining to Lao Feng in a low voice.

"Moreover, some storm chasers have even been able to record footage of as many as fourteen tornadoes forming and dissipating in a single day in Texas."

"Although I didn't study geography, that's just how the environment is in Texas, especially in our central hilly region, where extreme weather events are common."

"Look, to our north lies the Great Plains of the North, and we are their buffer zone. To our west are the Western Plateau and desert, to our south is the warm currents of the Mexican Ocean, and to our east are the sea breezes of the East Coast!"

"These directions and terrain alone are enough to predict that central Texas will experience a lot of extreme weather, especially massive thunderstorms and tornadoes!"

"I don't know any of the signs of a tornado forming, but I've seen too many tornadoes since I was a child. That's why I want to build a nuclear-proof manor and a huge basement in this empty farm!"

“From childhood to adulthood, I have witnessed no fewer than a hundred tornadoes around me. And those tornadoes are often like today: the daytime is sunny and calm, the sun is even brighter than usual, but suddenly it starts to drizzle, and then a storm suddenly arises!”

"Damn it, I don't want to run into those things at night, because we can't even tell the direction of a tornado at night!"

At this point, Gavin let out a sigh of annoyance and then shook his head in displeasure.

Unfortunately, he hadn't paid attention to Texas's extreme weather before he traveled to America in this world. Otherwise, he would have known that Texas had indeed experienced more than one widespread super thunderstorm and tornado in mid-to-late February 2013.

That tornado even had its own name, the Dallas February Tornado, and it broke out in several places within 150 kilometers of Dallas.

As for now, upon hearing Gavin's words, Old Feng couldn't help but swallow hard, then hesitantly shook his head and said...

"It can't be that much of a coincidence, can it? Maybe it's just a little rain. There's a river near the farm, and it hasn't been dry these past few days, but a little rain can't be a bad thing, right?"

"Could it really be a good thing?"

No sooner had Old Feng finished speaking than Adriana couldn't help but curse and said...

"It's February, damn it! Texas rarely gets rain in February, and when it does, disaster is almost inevitable. It's practically a law!"

"It's either an ice storm, a huge hailstorm, or a massive thunderstorm and tornado. Of course, if it doesn't rain, Texas also has countless dust storms in February, but we have relatively few dust storms here because most of them are on the western plateau!"

At this point, Adriana leaned closer to the window and looked out at the pitch-black sky.

As she looked around, she turned on her flashlight and shone it outside.

Without a flashlight, you can't see much rain inside the car; you can only see the raindrops falling on the car window.

But when the flashlight was turned on, the raindrops suddenly seemed much denser.

Gavin, watching the rain outside the window, took a deep breath and then spoke to reassure everyone.

"Don't worry, the battle shield weighs more than many wooden houses. Even if we encounter a tornado, it won't be blown away like a Japanese car. At least we have a chance to withstand the tornado."

"Ha, boss, you're right. Having money is definitely a good thing. I fucking love armored vehicles!"

Adriana responded to Gavin, but even so, the conversation inside the car was eventually interrupted by the heavy rain.

Meanwhile, Gavin and his group were on their way to Altwood.

Around 12:10 a.m., Eugene, holding a gun and smoking a cigar, looked idly at the nearby lights.

Because Gavin took two people with him, it was difficult to gather two people to stand guard at the sentry post tonight, so Eugene was on guard duty by himself.

Despite how he could sleep soundly with drool on his face while on guard duty in Doris's RV, he remained very alert when he was actually on guard duty himself.

It was under these circumstances that were both boring and tense.

tick tock...

Water droplets appeared on the glass in front of Eugene, and raindrops also appeared near the lights outside the manor.

Eugene quickly noticed this, so he immediately stood up and leaned closer to the glass to look outside.

Staring intently at the falling raindrops, he let out a frustrated sigh and cursed.

"Damn it, why did I have to run into this mess? I hate trouble the most, damn it!"

After cursing, Eugene turned on the walkie-talkie in frustration and addressed all the field crew.

"Guys, wake up! It's raining outside. Everyone except Mike, come out and help!"

"Ok?"

"Received... Ah... Whew... I'll get up right away."

"It's raining? Rain in February? Damn it!"

"What's going on? Why is it raining? Is the boss back yet? How come it's only midnight?"

As the walkie-talkies crackled to life, the exhausted field crew members got up one by one. Even Nikita put on a heavy coat and went to her post to look out the window.

In just six or seven minutes, the drizzle outside the window had turned into a downpour, and it seemed to be getting even heavier.

Seeing the heavy rain, Steve shook his head uneasily.

Damn, the sound of the rain made him a little dizzy.

Eugene, standing nearby, asked him a question.

"Steve, does our farm get rain like this all the time? Screw it, it was just a little bit a moment ago, and then it suddenly started pouring!"

Upon hearing this, Steve exhaled and, despite feeling dizzy, quickly spoke to Eugene.

"Rain in February is not common. If it were just a light drizzle, it wouldn't be a problem, but this kind of heavy rain, damn it, we didn't see any clouds that could possibly bring rain during the day!"

At this point, Steve strode towards the terrace on the east side of the manor. He pushed open the heavy panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows and looked at the heavy rain pouring directly into the room.

“We need to get the horses and cows to the warehouse. Damn it, some of the chickens scattered outside will probably die after this rain!” “Let’s go, let’s hurry, before the rain gets heavier. I’m worried that this sudden downpour might bring a tornado or hail.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Steve tightened his cowboy hat and stepped into the heavy rain without hesitation, jumping directly from the second-floor terrace to the grass on the first floor.

Behind him, Eugene put down his sniper rifle, then fastened his hat and ran into the rain, cursing under his breath.

Nikita followed Eugene closely, about to step into the rain, but Martin rushed forward, grabbed Nikita's arm, and stopped the impulsive girl.

"Hey!"

Martin then spoke to Nikita.

"Three people are enough to do this kind of thing. You'd better not go for a walk in the rain. If the boss finds out, he'll scold us men for not being gentlemanly enough."

After saying that, Martin released Nikita and walked into the rain on his own.

Watching the three figures disappear into the distance, Nikita remained silent for a moment, then shook her head resolutely.

"Stop joking, Martin. Gavin doesn't need a burden, and I'm not that valuable!"

As soon as she finished speaking, Nikita turned to William and said...

“William, your foot hasn’t healed yet, so stay inside and open the door for us.”

As soon as she finished speaking, she rushed straight into the rain.

Even though she had mentally prepared herself, she still couldn't help but shiver when the cold February rain hit her face.

Ahead, Martin and his two companions turned back to look at Nikita.

Steve quickly pressed down on his cowboy hat and raised his hand to Nikita.

"Nikita, go get the cow, you... Holy crap! The dog jumped down!!!"

thump!
Following Steve's words, the young German Shepherd and Rottweiler rushed into the rain from the second-floor terrace without hesitation, plunging headfirst into the grass.

Only the Golden Retriever remained, anxiously running back and forth on the terrace.

After the German Shepherd and Rottweiler landed, they did not follow the group as usual, but instead ran back and forth in the heavy rain, barking repeatedly!

Wang Wang Wang!
The dogs' loud barking made Eugene involuntarily twitch his leg.

After a brief moment of unease, Eugene shouted at Nikita in annoyance.

"Hey girl, you just stay home and keep an eye on these dogs, they're barking so loudly!"

"But it's not too late now. Can you tell those things to stop yelling? They're making my heart race, damn it!"

"I see!"

Nikita responded, unable to help but feel a little resentful towards herself.

I feel a bit groggy tonight. Did I not sleep long enough?

Or did I catch my fever from Gavin, that jerk who's incredibly skilled at kissing?

I should have kept a close eye on the dogs from the beginning.

Thinking this, Nikita trotted over to the German Shepherd and raised her hand to call it to calm it down.

Seeing the German Shepherd and Nikita getting close together, the Rottweiler also came to Nikita's side. The two of them circled around Nikita, barking incessantly, making Nikita noisy.

"Quiet, guys, quiet..."

Nikita tried to comfort them several times, but to no avail. She then raised her head and shouted to the crowd in the distance.

"They're so disobedient, I don't know why!"

As she spoke, Nikita watched as Martin approached the makeshift stable, intending to untie Octavian's ropes.

Eugene and Steve went straight to the cattle pen.

As he opened the gate to the cattle pen, Steve called out to Nikita from a distance.

"Heavy rain is no good, and barking dogs are no good either. Let's hurry up and get going..."

brush! ! !
A silent light suddenly illuminated half the night sky, causing Steve to involuntarily stop talking!

In the distance, a thick, eerily long bolt of lightning suddenly struck the forest area opposite the manor.

"Shet!"

Steve instinctively cursed, then quickly looked at Eugene.

He raised his hand and pointed at Eugene, continuing to shout.

"Beware of the cattle becoming agitated..."

Boom, boom! ! !

An incredibly loud clap of thunder followed the lightning, as if Thor himself were banging a drum right next to everyone's ears, abruptly silencing Steve's words.

Seven or eight meters away, Eugene, startled by the thunder, instinctively shouted to Steve.

"Be careful of what... damn it!"

Boom! ! !
Before Eugene could finish speaking, the cow, startled by the thunder, suddenly raised its head and rammed into Eugene's stomach, throwing him off balance!
At that moment, Eugene took to the air!

Not far away, Steve could clearly see Eugene fly a full two meters high and then fly nearly five meters away before crashing down next to the cattle pen fence!

"Damn it!"

Steve cursed angrily, then quickly stepped aside, allowing the cattle, startled by the thunder, to rush out from the gate of the cattle pen!
While dodging the bull's charge, Steve checked on Eugene's condition.

Fortunately, because Eugene wasn't at the edge of the circle, no bulls continued to approach him, and he wasn't trampled by them.

After confirming that Eugene wouldn't be trampled to death, Steve quickly approached Eugene.

"vomit!"

Before Steve could get close, Eugene collapsed to the ground, clutching his stomach and vomiting.

"How are you, damn it, how are you!"

Steve rushed to Eugene's side, grabbed Eugene's arm, and asked.

But before Eugene could answer, in the distance…

Hiss! Hiss! Hiss!

The neighing of a horse followed immediately!

Steve instinctively looked toward the horses, and then saw Martin, like a legendary cowboy, forcefully grip the reins to avoid Octavian's raised forelegs, and then suddenly leap onto the back of another horse.

While calming the frightened horses, Martin effortlessly steered and guided the herd, using himself to attract Octavian's attention and leading the horses toward the warehouse next to the old manor.

Upon seeing this, Steve breathed a long sigh of relief.

Fortunately, none of the cattle and horses were involved in an accident at the same time, and Martin, the hunting master, did indeed possess an ability to deal with animals far beyond that of ordinary people.

Especially Martin's movements, damn it, he's clearly not a professional cowboy, but his movements of training and guiding horses are so fluid, it's like art!
"Brilliant!"

Steve couldn't help but sigh, then continued to check on Eugene's condition.

After vomiting several times, Eugene spat and cursed, saying...

"Fuck! Mazefuck! I'm okay, damn it, I think I flew, but the cow didn't have horns, I'm so lucky!"

"Lucky my ass! You need to brush up on your cowboy lessons. The first lesson is that when you're facing cattle or horses, don't stand in front of or behind them, stand to the side, to the side!"

Steve cursed, then pulled Eugene, whose legs were trembling, to his feet.

Eugene, using Steve's strength to get up, shook his head and looked at the cattle running away, then anxiously called out to Steve.

"Don't fucking try to teach me now, the cows' all gone, buddy!"

"It's alright, the cows are running towards the yard. There's a rain shelter in the yard, they'll gather there!"

Steve explained to Eugene, then led Eugene toward the yard.

As he walked, Eugene felt his legs go weak, but he managed to keep up and make it to the yard.

Wang Wang Wang!
牟!
Hiss! Hiss!

Quack, quack, quack!

The yard was now filled with animal sounds, and a large flock of unfamiliar crows had even arrived and taken shelter from the rain in the yard's awning.

The cawing of the crows made Eugene shake his head in annoyance, while Steve nudged Eugene from behind and said...

“Go home, Eugene. Things are almost done. Martin will drive the horses, and I'll drive the cattle.”

After saying that, Steve increased the force in his hand and pushed Eugene toward the door.

Meanwhile, William, who had already opened the door, stood anxiously by the door, looking at the torrential rain outside.

brush!
Another extremely thick bolt of lightning struck in the direction of the resort.

Click...

On the second floor of the manor, Winnie walked out of her room with a look of horror on her face.

This was her first night sleeping alone; she had finally mustered the courage to leave her mother's company.

So, on the very first night, she was given such a spectacular bombshell?

And so, Winnie, who had been startled by the previous clap of thunder, decided to sneak into the boss's room to sleep.

Even though her older brother wasn't there, and she was all alone, she believed that her older brother's bed would give her extra courage.

Winnie had just stepped out of the room...

Rumble, rumble, boom!

A thunderclap several times louder than the previous one came through the wide-open manor gates and reached her ears.

Winnie instinctively shuddered and immediately wanted to run towards Gavin's room.

But before she could move, Eugene's shouts came from outside the manor.

"Damn it, such a huge thunderclap! There must be a massive thunderstorm somewhere nearby!"

"That's right, damn it, you get the hell out of here and go home. We need to speed things up, quick!"

Steve urged them on, then simply drew his gun and used the gunfire to drive the cattle away from the covered walkway with grape trellises in the yard, leading them toward the warehouse.

In the distance, Martin had already opened the warehouse door and sent the horses inside.

After confirming that the horses were inside the warehouse, he turned around and rode towards the cattle, shouting to Steve from afar.

"Hey buddy, how's that idiot Eugene doing? I saw him fly, hahahahahahaha!!!"

Amidst laughter, Martin rode up, drew his gun, and drove the cattle in two different directions alongside Steve. Urged on by the gunfire, the cattle immediately began to accelerate.

Steve then turned and shouted to Martin from a distance.

"Don't worry, Eugene only got a nip in the stomach from the cow, his basket is fine."

"That's a real shame. I really wanted to see what Eugene would look like with only one basket left, haha!"

Martin laughed and joked, then he and Steve drove the cattle into the warehouse.

Then, Steve mounted his white horse Annie and spoke to Martin.

"I need to double-check the chicken farm. Are you coming with me?"

"Of course, the boss said to try not to act alone, and I will absolutely listen to the boss on this."

Martin shook his sleeves; at least the jacket was waterproof. He just didn't like the feeling of being wet, but he wasn't actually that wet.

So the two of them closed the warehouse door, rode their horses away from the warehouse, and headed towards the chicken farm two kilometers away.

As they left, they arrived at the manor gate.

Seeing Nikita bring the two dogs back, Eugene gave Rottweiler a light kick without any politeness and cursed.

"You bunch of bastards, your shouting hurts my ears! Why can't you just tell us there's a thunderstorm?!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Eugene rubbed his stomach, squatted down, and rubbed the dog's head.

Then, he simply plopped down on the floor by the door, leaning against the door and looking at the heavy rain in the distance, and the disappearing figures of Steve and Martin.

Noticing Eugene's condition, William pursed his lips uneasily and went to his side to ask a question.

"Cousin, how are you? You don't look well!"

"Hehe, I'm fine, just a little nauseous. Damn, I just flew into the sky!"

As Eugene responded, he leaned back and kept massaging his upper abdomen and ribs.

After pressing for a while, he grinned and said.

"Hehe, my ribs are fine, flying around felt pretty exciting, and getting soaked in the rain was even more enjoyable. Today was truly a wonderful day!"

"Uncle Eugene, what happened to you?"

Just as Eugene finished speaking, Winnie, wearing a bathrobe and slippers, ran towards the door from the stairwell in the distance.

Upon hearing Winnie's words, Eugene quickly looked at Winnie and began to scold her.

"Hey kid, what are you doing over there? Don't fucking freeze!"

"I'm fine, I was just woken up by the thunder. How are you guys? Are you hurt?"

Winnie ran to Eugene, letting her nightgown drag on the ground, and looked at him with concern.

Meeting Winnie's concerned gaze, Eugene forced a smile and said awkwardly.

"I'm fine, don't talk nonsense. I just got into a fight with a bull, and you saw what happened—the bulls were all locked up, but I'm completely unharmed. You, Uncle Eugene, are awesome, haha~"

Amidst laughter, Eugene gave Winnie a thumbs-up.

Meanwhile, inside the manor, several more doors on the second floor opened one after another.

Even Cao Xinyan got up, carrying her child who had been awakened by the thunder.

Although the manor has good soundproofing, thunder is the real sound of heaven and earth, especially the giant thunder in the Texas Thunderstorm, which is so loud that it can vibrate and wake you up even with soundproofing.

Seeing that there were more people in the corridor, Eugene frowned, stood up, put his hand on his holster, leaned against the door, and scrutinized the newcomers on the second floor.

"It's thundering?"

"My God, it's raining, the winter rain of February!"

"There's going to be a big thunderstorm. There hasn't been any rain in February for the past two years."

"What heavy rain!"

After people came out, they gathered in twos and threes, looking worriedly at the rain outside.

Seeing this, Eugene sneered and nudged Winnie's shoulder.

"Go take care of your mother. Don't let that coward cry because of the thunder. And don't stand in the cold wind at the door. Go on."

"I see."

Winnie nodded, then left the doorway and slid back upstairs in her slippers.

As he returned, Madison emerged from the room, dazed, and leaned against the wall, looking at Winnie and asking.

"Where are those bastards?"

"They're all downstairs and outside."

Winnie agreed, then glanced worriedly at Madison's feet.

Madison slowly made her way down the stairs, holding onto the handrail as she went.

Seeing Madison determined to go downstairs, Eugene called out to him from a distance.

"Hey, Mike, what the hell are you doing down here? Getting in the way? This downpour isn't something your feet can handle!"

"I know, I'm not in the mood to work in the rain either, but I'm worried about the boss. Damn, this thunderstorm came too suddenly, what if there's a tornado coming too!"

As they spoke, Madison swayed closer to the sofa, sat down on the sofa closest to the door, and looked anxiously out the door.

Upon hearing Old Mike's words, Eugene paused, then simply cursed.

"Damn it, I almost forgot, the quarterback is still out there. In this awful weather, that damn bitch has really given us a lot of trouble!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Eugene looked uneasily towards the second floor.

Those survivors, especially the new survivors who arrived today, are important resources and helpers in Gavin's eyes.

But for Eugene, those people were all potential trouble. If Gavin had a problem, even the word "potential" would disappear!

Meanwhile, Eugene was worried, standing to the side.

As Nikita squatted down to wipe the water off the German Shepherds, she spoke with certainty and calmness.

"They will come back. Gavin won't be defeated by a thunderstorm. I will wait for them."
