Chapter 66: Making Wands for Elves

Chapter 66: Making Wands for Elves

Duell was invited by Elrond's secretary, Lindir, to come to Elrond's palace with Elrohir and Elladan.

Gandalf was also in the palace.

"Father." The two elven brothers bowed to Elrond.

Seeing his twins, Elrond nodded, with love in his eyes.

He and his wife Celebrían had two sons and one daughter. His wife was ambushed and abducted by orcs at Redhorn Pass in the Misty Mountains on her way to Lothlórien to visit her parents, and suffered physical and mental torture.

It was the twins who went deep into the orcs' lair in the Misty Mountains and rescued their mother Celebrían.

But her spirit and soul were severely damaged, so she could only cross the sea and sail west to the immortal land of Valinor, hoping to heal her wounds.

The youngest daughter, Arwen, was taken care of by her parents-in-law, Celeborn and Galadriel, and lived in Lothlórien for a long time.

So only the twins stayed with him and lived with him.

"Lord Elrond, what can I do for you?" Dui asked doubtfully after greeting him.

"Wizard Doyle, could you please let me see your wand?"

Hearing this request, Dewi was a little surprised and turned his eyes to Gandalf beside him.

Gandalf smiled and nodded.

Seeing this, Dui handed over the wand without hesitation.

Elrond took the wand and looked at it carefully, with a look of growing surprise on his face.

"What a brilliant invention! It uses magical wood and substances imbued with magical power. This simple combination can produce a special magical effect."

"If I am not mistaken, the shaft is made from the willow of Huorn? As for the core..."

"The wand core is made of a strand of Rivermaiden Goldberry's hair and a strand of Tom Bombadil's beard," Dewey explained.

Elrond suddenly realized, and he grasped the wand with interest, waving it gently with elegant movements.

The waterfall outside the palace was blown by a gust of wind, and it condensed into a tall water horse, which rushed into the palace and galloped wildly, bringing a cool air. Then it rushed out of the palace again, jumped high, and plunged into the valley below.

"Very good!" Elrond commented with satisfaction. "Although your wand doesn't increase power much, it's a very good tool for channeling magic. Even underage elves can use your wand to cast good spells."

He returned the wand to Dui.

"Wizard Doyle, would you be willing to make a wand for us?"

"Of course, as a condition of the transaction, we promise to give you a satisfactory return."

"This..." Dui hesitated after hearing this. He looked at Gandalf, who did not show any attitude or expression.
"Lord Elrond, I would love to make wands for the elves. However, making wands is time-consuming, and I am currently on an expedition with my companions. I'm afraid I don't have the extra time to make wands."

This is not because Due is making excuses, after all, he has not even fulfilled his promise to Gandalf about the wand.

Gandalf had already carved the vinewood body of his staff, but the remaining core was nowhere to be found. When he was in the Trollwood, he had tried to make a wand with the nerves of a troll, but the result was not a good match for Gandalf, so he had to give up.

Hearing Dewi's answer, Elrond waved his hand.

"Time has no influence on us. We can wait for you to complete this expedition for years, decades, or even centuries."

Dui was surprised to hear this. He had forgotten that these elves were immortal. He quickly waved his hand and said, "It doesn't have to take that long. After this mission is over, I can agree to make a wand for Rivendell."

"However, the wand-making process is quite complex. I wonder how many wands you need me to make? If it's more than that, I'm afraid I won't be able to help you."

Hearing Duir's agreement, Elrond smiled. "Don't feel embarrassed, Wizard Duir. Just make wands for my two sons."

Dui breathed a sigh of relief when he heard this.

"That can."

"However, you need to prepare the magical wood and magical substances for making the wand yourself. I am only responsible for making the wand."

Elrond readily agreed, and then asked:

"Wizard Duil, you have helped us. What do you need?"

Before Dewi could answer, Gandalf winked at him, coughed, and spoke first: "Lord Elrond, Dewiel wants to possess a staff, but the magic gem of the staff is still missing. Do you have any information about the magic gem?"

Dewi opened his mouth, not expecting Gandalf to ask so much for him.

His face instantly felt hot, and he was worried that Elrond would think it was his idea.

Magic gems were so precious that even if he made a thousand wands for Rivendell, they probably wouldn't be worth as much as the magic gems. Furthermore, he was only making two wands for the elves.

However, what relieved Dui was that Elrond did not feel that the transaction was unfair, nor was he angry.

Instead, he shook his head.

"Unfortunately, the Valley does not have the habit of collecting gems, so there are no magic gems you want here."

"But I remember Lady Galadriel in Lothlórien has a collection of several precious gems. I will contact Lady Galadriel and tell her about your request. As for whether she will agree, I cannot guarantee it."

Then his gaze turned to Gandalf who was standing beside him.

"But considering what you said, Gandalf, and your relationship with Lady Galadriel, there should be a good chance of obtaining the magic gem."

Gandalf nodded when he heard this, indicating that he was willing to do his part.

After discussing the wand, Elrond turned the topic to the dwarves.

Although Thorin and the dwarves tried to conceal the purpose of this expedition, they could not hide it from the eyes of Elrond, who had experienced countless years.

Gandalf had no intention of hiding the secret from Elrond, so he sent for Thorin and wanted to give the map to Elrond to decipher.

"Our affairs have nothing to do with the elves..." Even at this time, Thorin was still unwilling to show the map to Elrond. He was still full of hostility and distrust towards the elves.

Gandalf was a little angry when he saw this.

"For goodness sake, Thorin, put aside your dwarven stubbornness and show the map to Lord Elrond."

"This is the heritage of my people, and I should protect it, including the secrets contained within it." Thorin refused stubbornly.

"Don't bother with me with your stubborn dwarf temper. Your pride will eventually bring you down!" Gandalf said firmly. "The man before you is one of the few in Middle-earth who can read that map. Show him the map."

Thorin raised his head, looked grimly, and stood with Gandalf in a stalemate, neither of them giving in.

Dewi and Elrond stood by silently, watching quietly.

In the end, Thorin lowered his head, took out the map from his arms and handed it to Elrond.

Elrond didn't care about Thorin's attitude. He took the map and looked at it carefully.
