Chapter 256 Human Power
Chapter 256 Human Power
The Ring of Power in Dui's hand formed a sturdy shield, protecting Dui along with the Black Barbarian warriors and Rohan cavalry behind him.
As he activated his Ring of Power to resist the frost dragon's chill, he asked in confusion, "Why are you back?"
Seeing Dui protecting them with all his might, Brog, the leader of the Black Barbarians, immediately felt guilty and uneasy.
"Lord Duir, we defeated the Mordor army at the Ente River crossing, and saw dragons attacking Eisengard, so we returned to provide support. King Sengir also led half of his cavalry to follow us... Aren't we a burden to you?"
Brog hadn't thought that far ahead; he only thought that if Eisengard was in danger, then they, as its subjects, would certainly do everything in their power to come back and rescue it.
But reality dealt them a heavy blow; they couldn't even harm the weakest dragon in the slightest, let alone the frost dragon and Saruman.
On the contrary, they need Duir to step in and protect them.
This situation led Brog, the leader of the Black Barbarians, to believe that they had not only failed to help their lord in the slightest, but had instead caused him trouble.
But Dui didn't think that way. He was deeply moved that the Black Barbarians and the King of Rohan had come to his aid despite the danger, and he knew that their arrival was not entirely useless.
After all, even a large number of ants can kill an elephant, let alone nearly ten thousand fully armed elite soldiers.
So he tossed the golden bow to Brog and pulled a quiver from his pocket for him.
"This golden bow is perfect and has a quiver containing hundreds of mithril arrows that can pierce dragon scales. You can use it to deal with your enemies."
These mithril arrows were replicas of the three silver arrows given to him by the blue-robed wizard Moreda. Not only were they highly penetrating, but Dui had also inscribed explosive runes on them.
As for the original three mithril arrows, they were all used up in the previous battles. One arrow blasted Saruman away, one arrow killed the Ringwraith's dragon, and the other arrow was frozen by the frost dragon's cold air when it was used to attack the frost dragon.
Brog was flattered and accepted the golden bow and the quiver filled with mithril arrows.
Then Dui took out a white horn and handed it to the King of Rohan who was standing nearby:
"Your Majesty Senger, thank you for coming to our aid. This is the Victory Horn. Sounding it will boost our morale and instill fear in the enemy. Use it to disrupt them later."
King Senger accepted the victory horn, nodded solemnly, and knew that with their strength, they were simply unable to intervene in the battle before them; being able to provide support and interference from the sidelines was already quite good.
Then Dui looked at the Black Barbarian warriors and Rohan cavalry, and with a wave of his hand, summoned Fiendfire. Fiendfire swelled in the wind and quickly spread towards everyone, instantly causing the warriors to panic, thinking they were about to die in the flames.
But by the time they realized what was happening, the raging fire had not caused any harm, and even though the warriors were deep inside the fire, they did not feel any heat.
"Warriors of the Black Wilds and Rohan, this is the flame that will protect you, and the hellfire that will burn your enemies. Raise your arrows, ignite them in the flames, and fire them at our foe!"
Dui's voice echoed in the ears of every soldier.
The Black Barbarian warriors and Rohan cavalry looked around at the eerie blue flames with confusion, then obediently extended their arrows into the flames. To their astonishment, the flames instantly spread to the arrows, transforming them into fiery rockets.
But everyone holding the rocket felt no burning pain whatsoever.
King Senger blew the victory horn with all his might. The sound of the horn brought all the stunned warriors back to their senses, making them incredibly excited and full of courage and hope.
Even when facing terrifying beings like the Frost Dragon, they felt no fear whatsoever, only a strong fighting spirit.
As if given a command, the horns sounded, and all the warriors drew their bows and nocked arrows, firing flaming fire arrows at the frost dragon, the demon dragon, Saruman, the Ringwraiths, and others.
Even the Frost Dragon dared not underestimate the tens of thousands of fiery rockets it was facing. It sensed a threat from the flames and began to spray extreme cold air at the rockets that were hurtling towards it.
The extreme cold of the Frost Dragon is enough to freeze everything, even extinguish volcanoes, let alone ordinary flames.
But the Fiery Blaze was no ordinary fire; it was a destructive fire capable of burning everything. When the two met, it was like a needle against a wheat awn. The cold air could not extinguish the Fiery Blaze, and the Fiery Blaze could not burn the ice. In the end, the Frost Dragon won by sheer numbers and kept the Fiery Blaze at bay.
But the other dragons didn't have this ability. Although these rockets couldn't break through their scales, once they landed on them, it was like fire meeting gasoline, instantly igniting and then rapidly spreading throughout the dragon's body.
Then one by one, the demonic dragons transformed into burning "fire dragons," howling and struggling in the sky in agony. Some even plunged into the nearby Aisen River in an attempt to extinguish the flames on their bodies, but to no avail.
In the end, the dragons were burned to death by the Fiendfire, and even the Ringwraiths' dragon mounts could not escape.
While King Sengir of Rohan was constantly sounding the horns of victory, causing great distress to the Ringwraiths and dragons.
Brog, the leader of the Black Barbarians, held the golden bow given to him by Dui, drew his mithril arrows, aimed at the Nazghun's dragon mount, and fired the mithril arrows swiftly and continuously.
The mithril arrows shot through the air, some of which were blocked by the Ringwraiths and exploded instantly, blasting both the Ringwraiths and the dragon away.
Brog's archery skills were superb. With the golden bow that never missed, the remaining mithril arrows hit the dragon's eyes directly, blinding it and causing a violent explosion that blasted the dragon into a headless form.
Thus, under the fierce barrage of rockets from countless warriors and the mithril arrows fired by Brog, the number of dragons on Mordor's side dwindled.
Even the Ringwraiths and Saruman could only passively defend themselves, constantly dodging and resisting the relentless barrage of rockets.
Suddenly, the situation on the battlefield reversed.
Dui smiled as he saw the scales of victory tipping in his favor.
Who says ordinary people have no role to play?
If he had fought alone, he wouldn't have achieved what he has today.
Mordor is on one side,
Saruman watched as the number of his painstakingly nurtured dragons dwindled rapidly, even facing the risk of total annihilation. He was filled with heartache and fury.
He wanted to summon lightning and storms to destroy the mortal warriors, but the dragon Smaug kept his eyes fixed on him and wouldn't get too close to give him a chance to attack, instead launching a surprise fire attack.
Then there was the King of Narohan, who treated the horn of victory like a musical instrument, blowing it incessantly and forcefully, making Saruman irritable and giving him a splitting headache. And then there was Brog, the leader of the Black Barbarians, a brute whom Saruman had once won over, who kept a close eye on him, constantly interrupting his spellcasting with mithril arrows fired from a distance.
Seeing this situation, the Frost Dragon's eyes turned extremely angry.
He was particularly shocked and filled with murderous intent when those ants he disregarded caused him enormous losses.
"Duir, you care about these mortal ants? Then just watch as I kill them all!"
As it spoke, it soared straight into the sky, tumbling through the thick, dark clouds, emanating a strong chill, and unleashing dragon language magic.
Dui gazed solemnly at the churning clouds in the sky, as if something terrifying was brewing within them.
The next moment, accompanied by a whooshing sound, huge hailstones fell rapidly.
The hailstones were about one meter in diameter, like meteorites falling from the sky and crashing down on the ground.
Everyone who witnessed this scene gasped in shock, their faces filled with horror.
"Protect them all!" Dui cast a protective spell with all his might towards the sky.
A giant barrier, like a huge umbrella, sheltered everyone beneath it.
Countless enormous hailstones, carrying immense force, relentlessly pounded against the protective spell, creating ripples in the air.
Dui gritted his teeth and persevered below. At this moment, he felt as if he were fighting against countless meteorites falling from the sky. The enormous impact made him feel as if tens of thousands of giant hammers were constantly hitting him.
Faced with this natural disaster, Dui felt immense pressure.
Outside the barrier, the enormous hailstones generated tremendous destructive force, smashing deep craters into the ground, collapsing stone walls, and snapping trees.
The dragon Smaug and the eagle Saurondo were among the first to be hit, and were thrown into the sky, teetering on the brink of collapse.
However, because of its enormous size, it had nowhere to hide.
Some of the fire dragons were even more unlucky; their wings were smashed off or their heads were knocked out, and they fell to the ground one by one.
Of course, Saruman and his companions also suffered from this indiscriminate attack. They couldn't even focus on attacking and hurriedly used various means to defend against or avoid the hailstones.
The lands of Essengard were riddled with craters and ruins from the pounding of massive hailstones, resembling the end of the world.
Only the sturdy Osankta remained intact despite the hailstorm.
When Dui saw the still standing Osankta, his eyes lit up and he quickly shouted, "Everyone, get inside Osankta and take shelter!"
Led by Dui, the warriors of the Black Barbarian Lands and the Rohan cavalry flocked to Osankta.
But at that moment, a Rohan soldier looked up as if he had seen something terrifying, and his face turned deathly pale. "Heavens...heavens!"
The others looked up, their faces also showing fear and despair.
A frost dragon appeared from the clouds, and beneath its feet, it gripped a massive iceberg!
The iceberg was as big as half a hill, its crystal-clear surface shimmering with a cold light, and huge ice ridges hanging from its broken edges, like sharp fangs.
Even with the massive size of the Frost Dragon, it would be extremely difficult to lift an iceberg of that size.
Amidst the horrified expressions of everyone, the Frost Dragon revealed an extremely malicious smirk, released its giant claws, and let the iceberg fall freely.
The iceberg plummeted with immense force, tearing through the surrounding air and creating a tremendous explosion.
If it were allowed to crash to the ground, it would be enough to level the entire Eisengard, and no one would survive.
Saruman took a deep breath, cursed "Madman!", then mounted the last dragon and fled desperately out of Eisengard.
Dui looked up at the rapidly falling iceberg, his face tense and his eyes deep and unfathomable.
Faced with this enormous iceberg, even his strongest protective barrier would crumble completely in just a few seconds.
He had absolutely no confidence that he could stop the iceberg that was falling from the sky.
Therefore, his only option was to immediately use Apparition to dodge.
But looking at the soldiers around him, who were looking at him with fear and hope, he wavered.
Without giving him much time to hesitate, the crown of wisdom on Dui's head spun rapidly, searching for a way out of the predicament.
In an instant, Dui Apparated and appeared on Smaug's back high in the sky, raising his staff high with all his might.
"Thunderbolt explosion!"
A huge, dazzling spell shot straight into the sky, heading towards the rapidly falling iceberg.
The two collided high in the air, and the curse disappeared into the bottom of the iceberg. There was no loud noise, only a suffocating silence.
Immediately afterwards, the iceberg exploded, countless ice blocks shattered and vaporized, and a ring-shaped shock wave swept in all directions like an invisible giant hand, clearing away the surrounding clouds and mist.
