Warhammer 40: Doom

Chapter 191 Demonic Weapons

Chapter 191 Demonic Weapons
Not long after the Void Shield of the Nest City shattered, the fleet of Randan aliens suddenly ceased its attack and began to assemble outside the defensive zone.

Doom sat on his command throne, constantly reading the fleet's summary information. He knew that Randan's counterattack was coming.

But his strategic plan was precisely to achieve this result!

The ground forces of Randan were in a state of constant panic and kept sending out calls for help, prompting the Void Fleet to launch an attack.

The battles between the Void Fleets were protracted; it would take several hours for the Randan Fleet to withdraw and regroup.

Doom observed the galactic sand table and, based on his insights and the Iron Man's calculations, filled in the weak points in the defenses.

The addition of the First Army Fleet undoubtedly provided great assistance.

Even if the warship information is leaked, the three Glory Queen-class warships are still formidable behemoths that are difficult to shake.

The Unyielding Truth, Exemplary Abomination, and Razor of Truth were placed in key positions on the defensive line to maximize their effectiveness.

The First Fleet's ships cooperated with Imperial ships, providing alternating cover and fully utilizing their firepower and defensive advantages.
With the defensive line in place, the alien fleet alone is unlikely to be able to shake the combined forces of the Nur fleet and the Imperial fleet.

Having done all this, Doom turned his gaze to the distant information, to the two remaining battle moons of Randan.

After the battle moon in Morse orbit was destroyed, the alien mega-space stations moved closer together, using their firepower advantage to cover each other.

They are far from the Morse world, far from the Royal Majesty, hidden behind the stars.

The fighting moons must be destroyed; they cannot be allowed to withdraw and become a future threat.

The Empire has not yet discovered Randan's territory, and after the battle of Morse, it will take a long time to find the aliens.

Letting them go is irresponsible towards the future; we must nip the crisis in the bud and reduce future variables.

After a moment of contemplation, Doom slowly said, "Take me to the training ground."

As soon as he finished speaking, a teleportation light appeared, and he arrived at the hidden edge of the training ground without attracting anyone's attention.

He strode forward toward the center of the training ground, where Imperial Guards and Destroyers were fighting, and Night Watchers were watching.

Two fragile stone swords rubbed together, making a rustling sound. Two warriors at the pinnacle of the physical universe were competing using the technique of "self-discipline".

"Company Commander of the Shield Guard." Doom greeted the Imperial Guard in a soft voice, so as not to disturb the competition.

The shield guard company commander was startled and instinctively tried to jump away, but he felt his shoulder being pressed down and he couldn't move.

After his thoughts came to a head, he was shocked to realize that the Primarch had silently appeared behind him.

Despite being focused on the competition at hand, he was still startled and broke out in a cold sweat when the Primarch approached him silently.

He was about to open his mouth to greet them when he saw the Primarch's expression, signaling him to go aside and talk.

"Sir, what are your orders?" The shield guard company commander finally spoke after entering the rest cabin at the edge of the training ground: "Is there a combat mission?"

“Yes, Captain Odysseus of the Shield Guard.” Doom called out the name of the Imperial Guard, a name derived from a hero in Greek mythology.

"Sit down." Doom gestured for Odysseus to sit down, and then sat down on the bench himself.

Odysseus put down his halberd, removed his helmet and placed it on the table, and sat down opposite the Primarch.

He was a very handsome man with deep and striking features, possessing a certain charm reminiscent of ancient heroes.

Doom tapped the table, displaying a full projection, and explained his plan: "I need six hundred Imperial Guards to split into two groups, land on the alien battle moons, and destroy them from the inside."

As he narrates, the holographic image changes, revealing the outer perimeter of the battle moon.

Even before entering the star system, the First Fleet's reconnaissance ships infiltrated the void to gather intelligence on the battle moon.

After covert scanning, the reconnaissance ship did its utmost to analyze the structure of the combat moon, which was one-tenth the thickness.

Randan's mega-space station is too large and has multiple layers of protection, making it very difficult to scan for this intelligence without exposing the reconnaissance ships.

"My lord, please forgive my bluntness." Odysseus did not immediately agree after reading it.

"Please speak," Doom nodded, gesturing for him to speak freely.

"How do we destroy it?" Odysseus asked. "Is it by overloading the Moon's reactor?"

"The space station is too big, and the various routes are intricate. If we deviate from the route, we will not be able to get close to the target and will instead be surrounded by the enemy."

"That doesn't matter; the Imperial Guards are not afraid of any enemy."

“But time is limited. If the Xenomorph tries to escape and takes us with it into the Warp, the consequences will be dire.” Odysseus finished voicing his doubts, took the drink from the machine, and awaited the Primarch’s reply.

“You don’t need to destroy the core.” Doom shook his head with a smile, then reopened the holographic image, which displayed a device about the height of a person.

Odysseus saw the contents of the holographic image clearly, his eyes widened suddenly, and he instinctively reached for the halberd beside him.

"Primarch, you are playing with fire!" he warned Primarch with a stern expression.

The Shield Guard captain saw a transparent jar, its surface engraved with Primarch markings and other runes, brimming with glowing warp energy.

What made Odysseus nervous was that a demon was sealed inside!
It was a fat, bloated Nurgle, its body covered in blisters, its abdomen split open, maggots writhing around, and its spirit listless.

His heart trembled; his dark eyes reflected the image of the original body, recalling the Emperor's instructions to the Imperial Guard—

“Primarch Twenty-One, he can do anything, including the use of chaotic knowledge, and has power equal to mine.”

If it weren't for this imperial mandate, Odysseus wouldn't have investigated how the Primarch acquired this knowledge.

"The Doom Slayer is responsible for escorting it to a third of the way into the Battle Moon and detonating it."

Doom didn't explain further, telling the Imperial Guards to relax: "It dares not escape; self-destruction is its only chance to survive."

Nur had been developing psionic weapons for some time, conducting very cautious research into subspace knowledge.

In this regard, they received support from Prima the Lifeforger, who gifted them private research and knowledge about demons.

With the Doom Slayer personally guarding the Demon Research Institute, the Psionic Masters, combining knowledge of the Old Ones, developed several "Demonic Weapons".

Doom demonstrated one of them.

Captured from the warp, the Nurgle archdeacon was used to create a "corrosion bomb" by combining the characteristics of demons with time magic and time technology.

With just one time bomb containing a corrosive virus, a world can undergo millions of years of corrosion in just three minutes.

Doom would not use demonic weapons unless the situation required it; they were too dangerous.

Ships with sufficient firepower would find it difficult to approach the battle moon, and the aliens, having suffered a loss, would certainly flee immediately.

The ships that could get close lacked sufficient firepower to inflict effective damage.

Using black hole weapons rashly could cause gravitational imbalances within a galaxy, potentially leading to the destruction of the Morse Galaxy.

The only weapons that boarding troops can bring are the demonic weapons made by Nur.

“The Imperial Guard,” Doom said, looking at Odysseus with a hint of helplessness in his voice.
"This is a last resort, and I am telling you about the existence of this dirty weapon out of respect."

Odysseus nodded. Indeed, as the Primarch had said, he could have acted secretly and had the Custodians escort the Doom Slayer.

The original body's current consultative behavior shows the utmost respect for the Imperial Guard.

After a moment's thought, the Shield Guard captain said to the Primarch, "I support your plan, but I need to report this to the Emperor after we return to Terra."

“Alright.” Doom nodded. The Imperial Guard’s actions were beyond reproach, and they had the right to reserve their opinions.

"I'll go and prepare." Odysseus drank the cold beverage, put on his helmet, picked up his halberd, and assembled the Imperial Guard to prepare for action.

Doom stood up and instructed the Imperial Guards, "Go to the regular armory; there's some equipment you can use."

"Understood." Odysseus's eyes lit up; the weapons produced by Nur were quite practical.

Doom watched the Imperial Guards leave, then sighed helplessly.

If the legion had enough men and could organize sufficient manpower, he wouldn't need to reveal these secrets to the Imperial Guard.

The secrets known to the Imperial Guards will surely be known to the Emperor as well.

The warriors clad in golden armor are the most loyal servants of the Lord of Mankind, selflessly dedicating everything to the Emperor.

"Take me to the Demon Weapon Room." A teleportation light appeared beneath Doom's feet, and his holy seal disappeared into the lounge.

In a secluded corner of the Royal Majesty, where mortals are kept out, few know of its existence.

The room exists in another dimension, and the passage leading to it is fraught with danger to prevent demons from escaping.

Ancient sage-inspired incantations were engraved on the gate, blocking all psychic probes.
