Starting from South America, speeding through the world
Chapter 259 has finally fallen into my hands.
Chapter 259 has finally fallen into my hands.
At noon, sunlight streamed through the floating clouds onto the stone-paved square.
The small town of Švidna is located southwest of Prague and has a population of just over three thousand.
The clock tower in the center still retains the red brick style of the Austro-Hungarian period.
The station is located on the edge of town and is a standardized Imperial Railway building with gray-white cement walls and a double-pitched roof.
At this moment, a twelve-carriage express train on the eastern line is parked on the platform.
We were originally scheduled to depart at 2 p.m., but we have already been delayed for a full 50 minutes.
No one explained why there was a delay, and no one came forward to comfort the passengers.
Zhou Yi sat by the window, his gaze sweeping over the empty platform outside.
In the distance, the bells rang three times in succession.
Ketterle sat beside him, her right hand supporting her chin, her brows slightly furrowed, clearly having also noticed the unusual "waiting."
The passengers in the carriage began to stir.
Unable to contain their emotions, the group stood up and tried to find the train conductor, but were coldly asked to return to their seats.
After an unknown amount of time, the connecting door next door was finally opened from the outside.
A tall military officer walked in, followed closely by a ticket inspector wearing an insignia.
The two did not speak immediately, but paused briefly at the front to observe each row of seats.
Zhou Yi didn't move, but simply turned his gaze from the window to them.
The officer took a few steps forward and finally stopped in front of Ketterleil.
The ticket inspector whispered a few words to him before making him turn around and look at Zhou Yi.
“Your identification,” the officer said.
Fortunately, Zhou Yi understood what he meant and took out the travel document from his pocket and handed it over.
The paper had been folded many times and the edges were frayed, but the stamps and annotations on the cover were still clear.
The officer stared at it silently for a few seconds, his brow furrowing slightly.
Where are you planning to go? Will anyone be traveling with you?
Zhou Yi blinked but didn't say anything.
Katelyl took over the question at the opportune moment.
"This gentleman and I traveled from Prague to Krakow. There were scheduled stops along the way, which were noted in the documents."
The officer looked her up and down for a few seconds.
"what country are you from?"
“A German citizen,” Kateryl replied casually.
Upon hearing this, the officer said nothing more.
He closed the document and handed it back.
“There are many types of travel permits, especially for special routes like this.”
“We have received orders to determine the reasons for the movement of all ‘non-local persons’.”
His words weren't excessive; they even sounded like he was explaining something, but everyone could understand the underlying meaning.
"You'd better stay inside the carriage and not move around unnecessarily."
As soon as he finished speaking, the officer turned and exchanged a glance with the ticket inspector.
The two continued to inspect the rear of the car.
Just as Katelyl was about to breathe a sigh of relief, having managed to get through the situation for the time being, she heard someone speaking behind her.
"Excuse me, how much longer will this train be stopped?"
It was an old woman's voice.
Katelyl resisted the urge to turn around and continued to carefully discern the details.
A few seconds later, the officer's voice came through, very softly, but luckily her hearing was good.
“I’m sorry, madam,” the man said, “we need to make arrangements for our VIPs to board the vehicle at the last minute.”
"VIP?" The woman's voice carried a hint of displeasure.
"Yes, a delegation from abroad."
"According to regulations, we cannot disclose the specific names of the personnel, but you don't need to worry, the train will depart soon."
As soon as she finished speaking, two cold laughs came from the woman, and it seemed that something else was being handed over.
Then, Ketterel heard the officer add hesitantly:
“From our allies, not the kind you’re imagining.”
“Just like…just like that gentleman.” Zhou Yi caught a glimpse of several people around him secretly adjusting their postures.
He immediately felt a sense of alertness and touched his lower back with his right hand.
Cattel instantly realized what was going on and gently shook her head.
Then, as if reaching for something, she leaned down and whispered in Zhou Yi's ear:
"The officer was explaining why the train had stopped, saying that a delegation from an 'ally' was coming up, and he mentioned you."
"I guess it's from Japan."
Before the words were even finished, the car jolted, and the scenery outside the window rushed past.
Zhou Yi's expression shifted slightly. He turned his head and stared at the two figures for a few seconds.
“Follow me,” he said.
Katelyl was taken aback and instinctively looked at him.
Unexpectedly, Zhou Yi had already stepped into the passageway and quickly walked to the back.
Seeing this, Katelyl had no choice but to quickly get up, grab her coat, and follow.
The two walked through carriage number seven.
The left side of the corridor has a half-open window, while the right side has a closed private room.
The air was somewhat stuffy, and the floor beneath my feet was constantly swaying.
Ahead, the ticket inspector walked a few steps ahead, while the officer stopped by the washroom, seemingly about to go in.
Zhou Yi suddenly quickened his pace, silently approached the officer, and whispered, "Sir."
The man was startled and had no time to make a move.
The next second, Zhou Yi raised her hand, grabbed his shoulder, and pulled him open the bathroom door, throwing him inside.
The door was locked from the inside with a "snap".
The lighting was dim, and the space was cramped, only allowing two people to stand at a time.
By the time the officer realized what was happening, he had already been pushed to the side of the pool, his back pressed against the tiles.
Before his right hand even touched his belt, he heard the crisp sound of a gun being cocked.
In an instant, a black pistol was shoved into his mouth, and his neck was simultaneously gripped tightly.
The icy touch pressed against the depths of his palate, sending shivers down his spine.
The officer stared in terror, his throat emitting a muffled sob.
"Don't make a sound," Zhou Yi said. "If you understand, just nod."
The officer froze.
However, upon hearing the sound of the trigger, it completely gave up resisting and began nodding frantically.
Zhou Yi breathed a sigh of relief.
At least, no third person has to squeeze in.
"Who are you waiting for?" he asked. "Which carriage? How many people? Are they armed?"
The officer raised his hand with trembling hands, gesturing laboriously to the gun.
Seeing this, Zhou Yi loosened his grip slightly, allowing him to speak.
"...In the last session...the Japanese delegation...a dozen or so...I...don't know."
The officer gasped for air, then tried to shout for help.
Zhou Yi reacted quickly, flicking his wrist suddenly.
A very short, muffled thud.
The officer's eyes widened, and he slid helplessly to the floor, his breathing long since stopped.
Zhou Yi bent down, wiped the gun barrel haphazardly on the corpse a couple of times, and hid it again.
Meanwhile, Ketterleer stood there bewildered, unsure whether to rush in or stay outside.
Fortunately, the door was opened quickly.
A man in a trench coat came out.
Ketterle noticed the officer leaning against the floor behind him.
His head was tilted to the right, and his eyelids were half-closed, as if he were asleep.
“The plans have changed,” she heard Zhou Yi say. “I’ve met some more interesting people.”
"Hold your gun."
