Chapter 505 Volunteer Investigation: Spring Rain and the Shelter

Chapter 505 Volunteer Investigation: Spring Rain and the Shelter
As always, the scores for the first mock exam of the new semester were not made public. After exchanging information with each other, the students in Class 6 of Grade 3 could only come to one conclusion.

Jun Matsue, with a total score of 813, and Yuka Tomatsu, with a total score of 825, undoubtedly occupied the top two positions in the class—and barring any unforeseen circumstances, the two should also be leading the entire grade.

"Eight hundred and thirteen," Miyamura Aya kept repeating the number, as if she were chanting some kind of spell. "What level is this?"

Jun Matsueda leaned against the corridor wall, watching the figures walk past him. "Based on the deviation value, it's about seventy-five, while for Yuka it's seventy-six."

The girl took out her phone and searched for a bit, then looked up in surprise, "Getting into Tokyo University is no problem at all!"

The boy shook his head. "I've only qualified to apply. I still have to take the school's entrance exam. Although the situation is quite ideal, I can't be careless."

The exams at Kawai Juku were relatively simple; Matsueda Jun had overheard the teachers talking about this when he went to Kominato's office before.

"The purpose of the Kawai test is to boost the children's confidence, while the Jundae test is to temper their arrogance."

"That's still pretty impressive!" Miyamura Aya rolled her eyes at him. "Anyway, it's definitely impossible for me."

"You don't need to go to Tokyo University." The boy looked at the guitar pick necklace around the girl's neck. "Just enjoy high school life and plan your future while you're at it."

Jun Matsueda only decided to apply to the University of Tokyo because he had the ability to do so.

"I know, as long as I can support myself in the future, that's fine," Aya giggled. "I'm already the president of the Light Music Club, and I've been preparing for club recruitment these past few days~"

"You've become a minister?" Jun Matsue looked her up and down. "With your mediocre guitar skills?"

"What are you talking about!" The girl raised her head. "I'm just a part-time rhythm guitarist, okay! I sing so well, why can't I be a club president!"

"Yes Yes."

The two chatted about the light music club and the band. When the lunch break bell rang, the girl walked down the stairs with cheerful steps, and Jun Matsueda entered the classroom.

"What did Tsun-kun and Aya-chan talk about?" Tomatsu Yuka looked up as the boy returned to his seat.

"The mock exams, and club recruitment."

Jun Matsue picked up a stack of forms from the table and walked up to the podium.

"This is the first volunteer survey of this semester. The results of the previous mock exams have been released. Please consider your own situation carefully and submit the completed form to me before this Friday."

The boy walked down from the podium to distribute forms. When he reached the last row of seats by the window, the girl who had taken the paper grabbed his sleeve.

"Is Matsue planning to apply to the University of Tokyo?" Mochizuki Haruka asked, tilting her cool yet delicate face up.

"Hmm." Jun Matsueda nodded. "If you can get in, why not go?"

The girl's expression was somewhat aggrieved, like the gloomy sky outside the window.

The Mochizuki family practices a happy education approach. Although her grades are quite good, it is still extremely difficult for her to get into the University of Tokyo.

As if to kick her while she was down, Tomatsu Yuka, sitting on the other side, spoke with a smile.

"I didn't expect my score to be higher than Jun-kun's this time."

The girl didn't mean to show off; she genuinely felt that Matsueda Jun was better than her, and given their current relationship, she didn't think her words would hurt the boy's pride.

The boy wasn't surprised at all, "because Tomatsu is better at math than me."

Once you've achieved a certain level of excellence in humanities subjects, memory becomes less important for exams—because exams aren't knowledge-based, and most questions won't be too obscure.

Putting aside memory, Jun Matsueda is not exactly a gifted individual, so it's not surprising that he lost to a true prodigy.

"Is it because you don't spend that much time on math?" Tomatsu Yuka said with a smile. "If you're planning to improve your math grades, I can help you."

Jun Matsue returned to his seat with the last form. "We'll talk about it later." The girl nodded obediently. "Anyway, at least it's a good omen for the start of school, and it's worth celebrating."

Mochizuki Haruka, standing to the side, turned her back to the two of them, gazing at the slightly gloomy sky outside the window without saying a word.

After school in the afternoon, Jun Matsue walked out of the classroom with the crowd and came to the ground floor of the school building. The sound of fine, rustling rain flowed into his ears.

"It's raining." Tomatsu Yuka, walking beside him, unzipped her backpack, rummaged around for a while, and then looked up helplessly.

"I forgot my umbrella."

On the other side, Mochizuki Haruka glanced over. If the girl hadn't been in a bad mood today because of the volunteer survey, she would have definitely turned someone's bag upside down to check if it was real or fake.

"Then you can use my umbrella." Jun Matsue opened the umbrella, and Yuka Tomatsu took his arm and stepped under it.

Wang Yueyao walked to the left of the boy, keeping a distance that was neither too close nor too far from them. The footsteps of the crowd stepped on the puddles on the road, and the waves that rose in the puddles covered the ripples of the raindrops.

Upon arriving at the school gate, the girl holding an umbrella alone stopped, and Jun Matsue looked at her.

"I'm not staying at the apartment tonight." Mochizuki Haruka was still thinking about the volunteer survey form in her bag; she needed to go back to the mansion to ask her aunt for advice.

"Then how will you get back?" Jun Matsue looked around the road in front of the school gate but couldn't find the black car that he knew so well.

The girl took her phone out of her pocket. "The car is stuck in traffic. It'll be a while before we get there."

"Then I'll wait with you for a while," the boy said without hesitation.

“Okay.” Mochizuki Haruka smiled, her originally calm eyes curving into crescents.

She felt much better because Jun Matsue hadn't consulted the other girl when he said he wanted to stay with her.

Tomatsu Yuka, who was quietly watching the crowd at the intersection, smiled. She didn't look at Mochizuki Haruka, but continued to hold the boy's arm, showing her feelings through her actions.

The three of them walked to the eaves of the guardhouse and put away their umbrellas. Ten minutes later, a black sedan stopped in front of them. The driver opened the car door and, holding an umbrella, nervously greeted his young mistress.

Before getting on the bus, Mochizuki Haruka turned around and waved to the boy, her beautiful lips moving silently.

"You're not allowed to bring her home," the girl said.

Jun Matsue turned his head. Tomatsu Yuka was standing on the other side of the eaves, chatting with a girl who was taking shelter from the rain, and did not look at them.

After the car drove away, splashing water, Jun Matsue walked over to the girl who had been left behind.

"The rain shows no signs of letting up, let me take you to the station first."

“Okay.” Tomatsu Tomohana nodded happily. “Spring in Tokyo is like that, it rains every few days!”

However, after the two set off again, the drizzling spring rain began to intensify, and the sound of the heavy rain was like vegetables being stir-fried in a wok.

The single umbrella was about to become useless. Tomatsu Yuka, who was hunched over under the eaves, tugged at the boy's sleeve and pointed to the building by the roadside.

"At this rate, both Jun-kun and I will be soaked. Let's go somewhere to take shelter from the rain."

Jun Matsue looked up at the bright sign the girl was pointing to; it was a karaoke bar frequented by students from the neighborhood.

He breathed a sigh of relief.

Thankfully, it wasn't a love hotel.
