Chapter 464 I broke up
Chapter 464 I broke up
The day after the cultural festival ended, Jun Matsueda boarded a train to the port area after school.
There were quite a few passengers on the train. He held onto the handrail, ignoring the gazes cast at him by the high school girl in the carriage. The residential buildings and bushes outside the window flashed past him quickly.
Today's low temperature was nine degrees Celsius, just down to single digits. Although the sun hadn't turned cold yet, thin long sleeves were practically nowhere to be seen in the carriage, signaling the gradual deepening of autumn.
"It seems colder this year than last year," a passenger whispered to the person next to him.
"Last year was unusually hot, wasn't it?"
Their argument about the Tokyo weather remained unresolved until Jun Matsueda got off the train. The boy then walked off the platform and transferred to another train.
Half an hour later, Jun Matsueda stepped out of Hinode Station. The damp wind that hit him reminded him that he was now in the port area.
For Jun Matsueda, who lives on the outskirts of Tokyo, Minato Ward is exceptionally remote, and he rarely comes to this area with the highest income level in all of Japan unless there is a specific reason.
As for why the boy is standing in front of the gleaming glass skyscraper, it's because of a sudden message from a certain girl.
"Pine branches!"
Before he even reached his destination, Yosuke Kurusu, wearing a mask, was already waving and walking towards him from downstairs.
"Long time no see~"
The girl's tone was still full of energy. A season had passed, and her long hair had turned completely black, with only a touch of cherry blossom color remaining at the ends, swaying in the wind.
Jun Matsue nodded. "It's been more than half a month since I last saw you, and the first thing you do when you reappear is talk about leaving Tokyo."
The boy wasn't complaining, but Yosuke Kurusu still turned his face away somewhat embarrassedly, looking towards Tokyo Port not far away.
"Because it might not work out, I thought I'd get it done before telling you."
"Anyway, let's not chat down here." The girl pressed down on her wind-blown hair. "The wind is too strong, it's so annoying!"
The two walked into a roadside cafe, asked for a private room, and then sat down by the window, taking off their masks.
"Has the pine branch's face turned white from the wind?"
Jun Matsueda touched his face. "I'm the kind of person who rides my bike to and from school even in winter. How could my face turn pale just because of a little wind?"
“That’s true.” The girl picked up the menu on the table. “What would you like to drink, Pine Branch? It’s on me.”
"I don't know what to drink, you can order."
"Two lattes it is then!"
The boy got up and left the private room. A few minutes later, he returned with a tray and placed the coffee in front of the girl.
"It was quite a hassle to come all the way from Mitaka. I had to change trains twice and it took me almost an hour to get to your company."
"Taking a taxi would be so convenient; I have a private car to pick me up and drop me off now!"
Yosei Kurusu raised an eyebrow, but the smug look on his face was completely ruined when he lowered his head to drink his coffee.
"It's so hot!" she exhaled, sticking out her bright red and pink tongue.
"Let's drink it later." Jun Matsue pushed the ceramic cup a little further away, causing the milk latte art on the coffee to sway slightly.
"Are you leaving Tokyo?"
"Hmm!" The girl's bright, sunny eyes remained unchanged. "I'm leaving this weekend. I'll start preparing for the new album and tour in December. I might not return to Tokyo until I participate in some programs."
This is the kind of busy life she described.
Yosei Kurusu took a sip of coffee with a spoon; the temperature was barely acceptable.
"When I sent you the message the day before yesterday, it was the day when tickets for the tour officially went on sale."
The boy nodded. "I saw the advertisement—it's the first time I've ever seen someone I know on a big screen at an intersection."
"Really?" The girl's eyes were full of excitement. "What do you think?" "It's beautiful." Jun Matsue smiled.
"That's good~" Yosuke Kurusu patted his chest lightly. "I told the publicity department that the other one was better, but they didn't choose it."
For some reason, the private room fell silent for a while. Outside the window, ships sailed by in Tokyo Harbor, and the water rippled silently.
"So how have you been these past few days?" Jun Matsue picked up his coffee and took a sip, the pattern on the coffee becoming blurry.
"Busy performing," Yosei Kurusu sighed.
“The company originally planned to start the tour earlier, but I asked to postpone it, and I also reduced the number of shows and performances I participated in afterward. So before this project was launched, I had to prove to the company that tickets for Yosei Kurusu’s performances could still be sold.”
“How could there be a problem?” The boy nodded. “I heard your song on a classmate’s phone just a few days ago.”
"I heard your songs from my colleagues too!" the girl recalled. "'A nobody band can write songs like this,' that's what they said, and I was secretly thrilled for you back then~"
"Songzhi might have a lot of creative talent. If you can't make it in the future, you can write lyrics for me!"
"Please wish me well, okay?" Jun Matsueda's smile was somewhat helpless.
"Wouldn't it be better to work for me?"
The girl giggled, and even though she knew that Songzhi had a lover, her attitude didn't seem to change.
"Don't just talk about me, how has Songzhi been doing lately?" She picked up her coffee, sipped it slowly, and looked at the boy in front of her with the curious eyes of a small animal.
"The results of the recent school mock exams were pretty good."
"What's there to say? Let's choose another one!"
"We held a cultural festival last weekend, which was very lively. Our class set up a jazz bar, which was quite successful."
"A jazz bar?" The girl's eyes widened. "Someone like you who can't hold his liquor is selling drinks?"
"It's just a non-alcoholic beverage; I'll provide the accompaniment."
“That’s not bad either~” Yosei Kurusu nodded in satisfaction. “At least after leaving the band, you still have the opportunity to continue playing drums.”
"Anything else interesting?" she still wasn't satisfied. "I'm busy with work all day now, and listening to your stories is the only way I can relieve my boredom."
The boy thought for a moment, "Now Wangyue has moved to room 506 next door and is living there permanently."
"Huh?" Kurusu Yosei raised his eyebrows. "She took advantage of the situation as soon as I left, didn't she!"
"She said her aunt wanted to train her to live independently."
"It's definitely fake!" the girl said angrily. "Don't let her tempt you!"
After finishing the last sip of his coffee, Jun Matsuoka put the cup back on the tray, the pattern remaining on the bottom of the cup somewhat dirty.
"And one more thing"
"I broke up with my boyfriend."
The room was quiet for two seconds, then a few seagulls flew past close to the outer wall, their flapping wings muffled by the windowpane.
Yosuke Kurusu put down her coffee, a genuine smile of joy on her face, her silvery laughter echoing in the private room.
"I...I'm sorry," she said with a smile to Jun Matsue, whose expression was strange.
"Although saying this in front of Songzhi is a bit much—"
"But I'm extremely happy right now!"
