From the God of Lies to the Lord of All Worlds

Chapter 430 The Scourge Legion, but the Victorian version

Chapter 430 The Scourge Legion, but the Victorian version

The two princes rushed anxiously to the palace gates, where they found their father, who had fallen into a coma.

Beside King Charles was Sunak, who had recovered.

The two men breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing their elderly father's condition. Fortunately, he had only lost consciousness and had not been completely killed by the curse.

Perhaps this is a good thing for their elderly father?

After all, they didn't know if the other party could withstand that special "mental test." If something happened to them along with those nobles, that would be a real problem.

At least now, they can at least preserve a small fig leaf for the royal family and gloss over the matter.

The fact that the king died from the Celtic curse is a truly horrifying scandal.

"Your Highnesses, King Charles's illness has relapsed... The court physician has diagnosed it as a spread of cancer cells caused by overwork, and he has fallen into a coma!" Sunak said. "Your Highness William, the affairs of state will now require your attention!"

"State affairs? Sir, are you kidding me?" William said bluntly. "What state affairs are there now? London is practically a graveyard!"

"In just three days, 80% of the Victorian aristocracy, over 95% of the merchants, and over 70% of the politicians have died! This city and this country are on the verge of collapse, and you want me to take charge?"

That's really the situation in London right now.

Over the course of three days, most of the lower-level staff remained unharmed, but the upper echelons had already fallen apart!
The mass deaths, the curse that almost everyone knows, have blatantly turned into an absurd ethical farce in this city!

The descendants of these nobles frantically tried every possible way to avoid this disaster.

Some converted to Catholicism, hoping for the descent of angels, while others sailed eastward, hoping that the Norse gods would help them.

Some people even went to the homes of Irish people to worship the so-called Danu gods in order to avoid such a curse.

Unfortunately, all their efforts were in vain, and the curse still came as promised, turning most of the city's "distinguished high-ranking officials" into corpses.

Some were alone, some were in groups, but in short, they were all dead.

William assumed that this was a difficult task, since those who had died were high-ranking officials in the country, and without them, how could he govern the country?

“Um… actually, Your Highness, based on my experience over the past two days, it’s not difficult at all!” Sunak gave him an unexpected answer. “The remaining people are still keeping the country running smoothly, even more so than before!”

This answer left the two princes somewhat bewildered. "You mean, even after these people die, the country can still function, and even more smoothly?"

"Yes, because no one is objecting to the orders, many things can be implemented, some reforms can continue, and even because there are fewer corrupt people, the wages that couldn't be paid before can be paid again!"

Sunak's voice made William chuckle. "So, this curse is actually a good thing?"

“It might actually be a good thing!” Prince Harry said. “Haven’t you been waiting for this opportunity? This is a great opportunity to bring the monarchy back into power and make Parliament a thing of the past!”

Prince William's face turned green. "A good opportunity? A good opportunity to destroy Great Britain? Do you think the curse is over, or has it just begun? This little curse won't scare Cú Chulainn away!"

Upon hearing this, Harry fell silent. "Yes, is this really the end?" he thought. "If that's all, why did Cú Chulainn leave?"

This statement silenced Sunak, who had initially been somewhat pleased.

As an Indian-origin prime minister, he originally thought this was his moment of glory, after all, the constrained parliament had become an empty hall with only a few people, and it should have been his time to show his skills.

But after hearing William's words, he also felt that they made sense. If it was just a curse, how could Cú Chulainn have left so easily? There must be some other crisis that they hadn't noticed!
“I understand!” Prince Harry suddenly said, realizing what they had forgotten. “The Thames, the Thames! We’ve only investigated the water, but we’ve never been beneath it!”

Sunak took a deep breath and looked at Harry. He was looking at the red-haired man with some other thoughts in his mind. "Your Highness, what did you sense?"

"Feeling?" Harry looked at him, puzzled. "What feeling? I just feel... it should be the Thames, right?"

Seeing his "guessing" look, William and Sunak exchanged a glance, both of them thoughtful. "Then let's go check the bottom of the Thames!"

The two turned and left, as if they had made some kind of decision, leaving Prince Harry to take care of his father.

“Your Highness, did you see it?” Sunak said excitedly as soon as he stepped out of Buckingham Palace.

William nodded thoughtfully. "I saw it! I saw it! That green light was coming from Harry! What do you think it could be?"

“What else could it be? According to Celtic mythology, it could only be the enlightenment of the ‘Druids’!” Sunak said excitedly. “Your Highness, have we been chosen? Does this mean that destruction will not happen again?”

“Who knows? Even Harry himself doesn’t know!” William shrugged, looking somewhat bewildered.

His feelings toward his younger brother were naturally complicated. Because he was his own brother, he had to fulfill his responsibilities as an older brother. However, due to the younger brother's rebelliousness and arrogance, the two brothers had almost no time to get along properly, only conflicts and confrontations.

Now, looking at the green light emanating from his younger brother and the inspiration that suddenly burst forth in this time of destruction, he naturally felt complicated emotions.

He was worried that if his younger brother really possessed the extraordinary power of the Celts, would he surpass him and become the king of Britannia again?

Yet he was also very proud; after all, he was his younger brother! If it really was a curse from the Celts, cursing their entire family to extinction, wouldn't his brother become the Windsor family's last hope?

From this perspective, this is indeed a good thing.

“Hiss…” William took a deep breath, shouldered his responsibilities as “acting king” again, and rushed to the front line of the country with Sunak.

The streets along the Thames, which should have been bustling with people, were now eerily deserted. In three days, more than 400 million people had left the city. Everyone who could afford it had fled, leaving only the grassroots workers and the poor who couldn't leave.

Even those who hadn't left stayed away from the river, which seemed to exude an ominous aura, until their administrative orders came down and the police re-surrounded the area, filling the streets.

"The efficiency has really improved a lot!" William exclaimed in surprise as he looked at the police officers who had already arrived at their posts. "The upper echelons are gone, the intermediate dispatch is completely empty, yet the operation is still faster... These damn bureaucrats!"

It's obvious how many incompetent people hold positions of power in such a complex organization, and how much trouble they cause.

Sunak nodded. "When I was directly in charge of the police, I realized how efficient our government could be!"

Just as the two were marveling at the speed of this new government agency, the underwater cameras brought them new information.

“Your Highness, Your Excellency, there really is something underwater!” A policeman handed over a monitor, and the two men looked down at the tablet in front of them. On the tablet, they saw the underwater scene.

The Thames River, which they crossed every day, suddenly became so unfamiliar. In the almost completely dark underwater space, beams of special light suddenly appeared.

These lights were very small, like tiny glimmers of light, hardly noticeable—but this was underwater, and even the most inconspicuous lights became increasingly eerie and mysterious in this environment!

"What is this?" the two asked, puzzled, but received no answer until William found the button to switch to night vision mode and could see what the faint light was!
That wasn't light; it was the light shining from the eyes of "human beings"!
William suddenly realized something was wrong. How could there be humans underwater? These weren't humans; they were ghosts!
Those countless rays of light were clearly pairs of eyes, shining with hatred!
Both of them were trembling. Was the real attack only coming after the curse?

Those souls who died underwater have now returned!
