Chapter 429 The Parliament with Malice but Good Deeds

Chapter 429 The Parliament with Malice but Good Deeds
"Your Highness, no country in the world has responded to the Royal Family's call for help. Only the Vatican says they will come, but they need a formal note from Parliament."

At Buckingham Palace, a man who looked like a butler spoke beside Prince William.

"Parliament issues a note? Isn't my invitation enough?" William's face darkened. "Tell me, how is Parliament supposed to issue a note these days? They can't even gather enough people to hold a meeting!"

Before him sat a dozen or so members of parliament, their hearts filled with unease. These were the few remaining members of the dozens of parliamentarians that Prince William had won over; the others were already dead.
The corpses, of course, cannot hold meetings or discuss new issues, and they cannot recruit enough people, as no one in the city is willing to serve as a councilor.

The new member of parliament appointed by King Charles and Prime Minister Sunak committed suicide the very next day. After all, being a member of parliament could mean the death of one's entire family, while suicide would only mean the death of oneself.

“You assured me that you made your fortune after the Victorian era, didn’t you?” William asked.

The dozen or so people nodded hurriedly, one of them even saying, "Yes, Your Highness, we all became members of parliament after the Victorian era, and my family only started to prosper after World War II!"

William looked at the old man's face and felt a wave of disgust. He knew, of course, that the man's post-World War II background meant that he couldn't possibly have a Victorian-era background and therefore couldn't possibly be the target of the Monster under the Thames' revenge.

But he also knew that most of these families who rose to prominence during that era had many connections with America, and some were even front men for Wall Street financial groups.

Before, he would have felt defeated if he had even glanced at these people, but now, there were only these people left among the members of parliament. He wondered if this was a special kind of mockery of the most glorious Victorian era of their great Britain!
“How many members of parliament are left?” William asked.

"Your Highness, there are less than one hundred members left in the House of Lords, and a little over two hundred in the House of Commons... The entire Parliament has lost more than three-quarters of its members!"

Upon hearing this, William closed his eyes in pain. "Three-quarters... Ah, three-quarters..."

He certainly knew the sins of these people, but could their sins compare to those of the royal family?

Although Queen Victoria's power had diminished considerably by then, she was still the Empress of Great Britain, with the full title "Her Majesty Victoria, by the grace of God, Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, and Empress of India"!
She spearheaded this terrible industrial revolution, as well as the subsequent Irish and Indian famines. And behind this horrific and extraordinary crisis, it goes without saying that it was the Celtic pantheon!
Aren't the gods of Ireland next door and the dead in the sea here descendants of the Celts?
If those people were merely accomplices, then the current British Royal Family, being directly descendants of Victoria, are the direct participants!
Therefore, William was filled with boundless fear, terrified that if these congressmen died, they would come looking for him.

"Probably not? Even if we were to look for him, we should be looking for my father..." Prince William murmured, then suddenly asked, "What is my brother doing now?"

"He's atoning for his sins. He says he wants to atone for the innocent people who died in the Thames, and that it will make him feel better!"

Hearing this, William laughed, "Hahahaha! My foolish brother, isn't it a little too late to try and reconcile with them now?"

"Your Highness, at least Prince Harry is trying to defuse the crisis. What about you?"

Upon hearing this, William's expression changed. He turned around to see who was speaking, only to find that all that remained in front of him was endless darkness!

This filled him with boundless fear: "Help! Where is everyone? Where did they go?"

The sound echoed in his ears, sending out countless terrifying echoes.

"Where did you go? Where did you go? Where did you go..."

Before him appeared a series of figures, ragged and with blank stares, who swept their gazes over him with a look that William couldn't understand but still found terrifying!
"How did we get here? Shouldn't we be at work? If we don't go, the damn factory owner will fine us again!"

"What good is a fine? Will they stop fining us if we go there?"

"Who knows? But my hand doesn't hurt here, that's great!"

"Yes, I'm not sleepy anymore... I really wish my wife could come here too. She hasn't slept for two days because she's been punished by the factory owner..."

"I'm not hungry anymore... Waaah... I'm not hungry anymore. My son starved to death yesterday. If he could come here, he wouldn't starve to death, right?"

William seemed to understand something from these people's words. They... were factory workers? But what era would workers be dressed so poorly and starving?
This was the pinnacle of civilization, the once-beacon of Britain! Even during World War II, there should have been enough fish and chips to eat... Only now did he notice the physical condition of these people. Their dark, hunched, sickly, and short bodies made him unable to believe that these were truly citizens of Britain!

The citizens of Great Britain, wherever they are, should hold their heads high! After all, they are the world's largest nation, so why are they like this now...?

"How could this be..." At this moment, the terrifying descriptions in the book truly came to life. William's voice trembled slightly as he looked at the people in front of him and closed his eyes in pain.

This prince, who grew up in a greenhouse and thought he knew the "true cruelty" of the world, discovered for the first time that he actually knew nothing at all.

It was during this painful telepathic connection that he sensed the departure of some darkness, and light once again spread around him!
“Yes, brother, this is reality!” Harry’s voice came, startling William!
The next second, he was freed from that dark space and saw his younger brother in front of him, as well as the councilors who had just left.

"You know about this?" William asked, slightly relieved that the members of parliament had left, meaning their conversation wouldn't be leaked.

“In fact, I’ve been through what you just went through. Wasn’t it all darkness? Didn’t you see what it was like?” Harry’s words left William speechless for a moment.

But Prince Harry wasn't about to let his brother off the hook. He quickly said, "I just visited several nobles who survived the curse. They also encountered the same thing, and they dealt with it in a similar way to you!"

"That is... shock and regret! So they survived, so I survived, and it seems my brother, you survived too!"

"According to my men's analysis, this is actually a curse, a curse against us, the perpetrators of evil in the Victorian era! And the target of this curse is none other than us!"

“Each of us is a target of the curse, and the way the curse is manifested is through the people you see…”

Upon hearing this, William looked up abruptly, his expression extremely strange, and asked, "So, it was actually those idiots in the council who saved us?"

"That's probably it, they had bad intentions but did good things!"

Even Harry himself found it hard to believe he had said that.

It is common knowledge that the British monarchy has long been a plaything of Parliament, and members of parliament have gone to great lengths to weaken its power.

From the initial constitutional monarchy, to gradually limiting the power of the royal family, and then to directly restricting the royal family's assets and profits, the government has now begun to intervene in the education of royal family members.

The education they received from childhood, the concepts of justice, compassion, and mercy, were all instilled in them by their education. They originally believed that this was how people should be.

It wasn't until they met with their grandmother, the late Queen, and attended two royal education classes that they realized these emotions were precisely the last thing a ruler needed!

Their education is entirely mandated by parliament, with the aim of using this seemingly respectable method to spoil the royal heirs, ultimately turning them into rubber stamps to be molded at will.

"Ha! How could these fools have imagined that after the arrival of the supernatural, this kindness and compassion would become the reason we were able to survive?"

Harry concluded, "And their self-proclaimed aristocratic education became the ultimate reason they died in this world!"

Just then, an even louder cry rang in their ears: "Your Majesty, how are you, Your Majesty?"

Upon hearing this, the two men's expressions changed drastically, and they both ran towards the interior of the palace!

Could their elderly father have contracted the virus?
