Chapter 121 Determination

Chapter 121 Resolve (Part 1)

The shockwave from the explosion instantly swept through the entire command center.

Lu Lin felt as if an invisible giant hammer had struck his chest, his breath caught in his throat, and a metallic taste rose in his throat.

In front of him, Ibrahim braced his back against the table, like a wall, blocking the flames and shockwaves to the other side.

"It's careless."

A wave of unprecedented regret washed over Lu Lin. He had been focused on the micro-management on the front lines, but had overlooked the enemy's infiltration.

Shrapnel from the grenade continued to bounce back and forth in the enclosed room, emitting terrifying and dense shrieks.

A large number of staff officers in the headquarters were killed in the explosion. Documents and maps were torn to shreds in an instant, and the lights shattered, plunging the room into darkness.

Moments later, smoke filled the headquarters, and only a handful of people remained standing.

Lu Lin felt a burning, stinging pain in his arms and thighs. He looked down and saw that his military uniform was soaked with blood.

Gunfire and shouts erupted outside the door, likely as guards quickly organized a counterattack.

"Major General! Major General, are you still alive?" Lu Lin vaguely heard someone calling him at the door.

He was about to raise his hand when Yehena tackled him to the ground, his head hitting the floor hard, and his vision went black.

Immediately afterwards, a barrage of gunfire erupted, "rat-a-tat-tat," as the gunfire began to sweep towards his original spot.

Lu Lin instinctively curled up on the ground. He saw Yehena's body tremble violently, and the girl fell into his arms. He reached out to touch her back, but only found his hand covered in blood.

His gaze met Ibrahim's, who told him with his eyes to keep lying down.

At that moment, the gunfire outside stopped abruptly, or rather, it was interrupted by other gunfire. Then, a large group of people rushed in, led by Taimiye, whose face looked extremely pale.

"Amir! Your Highness, where are you?!"

Lu Lin felt a large number of people surround him all at once, and then at least seven or eight hands helped him up.

"Medic!!" Tammy shouted.

Two slender soldiers wearing red crescent armbands ran over quickly. At this moment, Lu Lin was still holding the unconscious Yehena in his arms and did not let go.

One of the medics hesitated and reached out his hand: "Major General, let us handle it."

Lu Lin looked down at Yehena's pale face, hesitated for a moment, and finally handed the girl over to him.

Another medic began examining Lu Lin and quickly located the wound, saying, "The major general was hit by shrapnel!"

Lu Lin was immediately displeased: "I only have a scratch!"

"Even abrasions can become infected if not treated promptly."

The medic said, "I'll give you a quick treatment. Don't worry, it won't take long."

Then the other person used scissors to cut open Lu Lin's clothes and began to disinfect and stop the bleeding from his wound.

Taking advantage of this time, Lu Lin looked around and found that the surroundings were in complete chaos, and his staff had suffered heavy casualties.

The confined space amplified the power of the grenade. The operations chief lay motionless on the ground, and those near the explosion site were almost all killed.

“What about the radio?” he asked.

A new communications soldier immediately stepped forward to check. In fact, because of the white smoke, the result was obvious to the naked eye. The soldier shook his head: "It's no use. The motherboard has been punctured by a fragment, and the battery is leaking."

Lu Lin's last shred of hope vanished, and he immediately ordered, "Go find me a new radio!"

"No." At this moment, Ibrahim stood up unsteadily. When he opened his mouth, blood flowed from his mouth, nose, and ears, but he still insisted, "You should change the headquarters immediately. The enemy knows about this place, and the shelling is about to begin." After saying this, he collapsed like a mountain collapsing.

Taimi quickly caught her colleague, only to discover that all the injuries were on his back, his tattered clothes smeared with blood, a truly gruesome sight.

That's it, my chief of staff is finished too.

However, Lu Lin quickly realized that Ibrahim was right. His top priority now was to move the headquarters and restore communications as soon as possible.

Just then, an M113 armored vehicle drove up to the door, and Lu Lin's eyes lit up.

With radio, bulletproof, and mobile capabilities, isn't this a ready-made command post?
So he shouted, "Hey! I'm talking to you! Stop!"

A platoon leader, his face covered in gunpowder, stepped out of the M113. He seemed to have come to provide support. He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Lu Lin, and then saluted: "Major General, it's so good to see that you're alright!"

"Enough talk, your car is now confiscated!"

"Uh," the platoon leader paused for a moment, "Of course, it's up to you."

Several soldiers immediately began packing up the contents of the vehicle.

Lu Lin strode toward the armored vehicle. Because of his injuries, his adrenaline was surging, and his mind was working much faster than usual.

He checked the radio, nodded after finding it intact, and said to the communications officer, "Connect to the division frequency. I'll be directing the battle from here now!"

The communications soldier immediately followed his instructions to set up the equipment. While tuning the frequency, he reminded the officer, "Major General, this radio equipment is a vehicle-mounted VEC-12 model."

Lu Lin frowned and asked, "What do you mean?"

The communications soldier explained, “We use a large fixed radio provided by the United States at the command post. After adding an antenna, the frequency coverage area can reach 500 to 1000 kilometers. However, the range of the vehicle-mounted radio is less than 20 kilometers, and the range is estimated to be halved in the city.”

Lu Lin understood; this meant that he couldn't be too far from the front lines and even had to stay with the troops.

At that moment, Hebrew voices came through the public channel, and the Zion soldiers spoke a long string of words in plain language.

Lu Lin couldn't understand Hebrew, so he turned to look at Tamiya.

After listening, the latter translated: "This is the other side transmitting intelligence, saying that 'Major General Amir' has been killed by them."

"Then they should switch to Arabic to announce the message."

Lu Lin knew exactly what tricks the Zionists were going to use the moment they bent over. He got into the car and said, "The most urgent task now is to stabilize morale. I must contact all the units as soon as possible and restore communications."

Taimiye opened her mouth, but in the end said nothing.

Because he knew that at this critical juncture, anyone could be sacrificed, but the major general's command was indispensable.

Otherwise their lines would collapse quickly.

Then, as if struck by a sudden thought, he quickly returned to the command post and retrieved the flag: "Take this; it can boost morale if necessary."

Lu Lin took the banner and nodded: "Let's go. First, we'll head to the assembly point of the First Mechanized Infantry Battalion."

"And what about us?" The platoon leader pointed to himself and his dozen or so soldiers.

Lu Lin's gaze swept across the faces of these young soldiers. They were generally full of energy and high morale. So he thought for a moment and said, "Then you will be my guards and protect the command vehicle at all times."

"Yes!"

The platoon leader nimbly flipped onto the machine gun position, and then the other soldiers ran to catch up with the infantry fighting vehicle.

I have another long chapter tonight, which is basically finished, but I'm going out for dinner, so I'll post it later.
